Last song: Swamp Pussy by Babes in Toyland. I’ve gotten obsessed with their music this year — I can’t believe it took me so long, considering I’ve been a fan of Hole for years and they’re always compared to each other. Babes’ first two albums are all-timers.

Last book: I just finished Tattoos on the Heart by Father Greg Boyle. That was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile — it’s about his work in creating and facilitating a non-profit, Homeboy Industries, that provides former LA gang members with jobs. It was so compassionate, heavy, and funny at parts too. I’m currently reading Challenger by Adam Higginbotham, about the 1986 space shuttle disaster, and it’s excellent. Also slowly reading Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and Sylvia Plath’s journals.

Favorite color: I like green of almost any shade! I’m becoming more partial to purple the older I get, though, in a Whimsigoth way. But I really like all colors 🌈

Last movie: My girlfriend and I watched Sing last night bc we wanted to have a dumb kids movie on but we actually really enjoyed it?? I didn’t think that animals singing pop covers would do a thing for me but it was really good!

Spicy/sweet/savory: Savory is my favorite, followed by spicy, then sweet. Not that I don’t enjoy sweets, especially ice cream! But I don’t crave them as much as I crave things like pasta, burritos, or fried rice. As for spicy, I’m a big fan of hot sauces — Louisiana Hot Sauce is my favorite 😋

Last show: The last show I watched all the way through was GLOW, and I’m about to rewatch it, this time with my girlfriend! I loved it but binged it so fast that I know I’ve already forgotten parts of it. It’s actually the reason why I’m reading the book about the Challenger disaster, since that a plot point of one of the episodes!

Current obsession/s: The Great Blue Heron has been occupying a lot of space in my heart lately. I saw one while I was swimming a couple weeks okay and watched it catch fish! They’re my favorite bird 🩵

sorry if i'm gonna be quiet for a while. my country recently introduced laws that make it so that in order to use social media to the fullest (not being able to view ns/fw content and in a few cases, not even having access to dms), i HAVE to give the sites my id/face scan.

it goes into effect july 25th. it'll probably effect here too, since this place allows mature content (tho not full on ns/fw)

i'm very distressed about it bc i might end up not even being able to talk to my internet friends. i don't really have any irl ones

if i have to disappear on most socials by then, you know why.

tumblr post: I went to the library today and there was a fucking full-grown adult bull moose running around in there. It was in panic and knocking over furniture and attacking people and being a danger to itself and everyone around. That sucked. I can understand urban birds and rabbits and stuff but I draw the line at massive megafauna. Wild animals like that do not belong inside public buildings. reply 1: "Wild animals do not belong in public" wow OP those are the exact same words that my father once said to a blind woman before punching her in the face for having a guide dog. I have now decided that you agree with him on every other thing also and will now proceed to attack you for being an evil incarnate. reply 2: If you assume that "wild animals" is a dogwhistle for white people, as I naturally do, this sheds a completely different light and context on posts like this. I have already informed my +500 discord group called Paranoia Lynch Mob that you support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. reply 3: A bull moose? Do you seriously hate men so much that you automatically assume that a random wild animal is male just for being destructive and inconveniencing you personally?

Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!

For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!

Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!
