The rest of the post is a continuous comic, starting with "Stonepaw catches a snake on her first patrol." Stonepaw runs up to Moonstar with a garter snake hanging from her mouth, excitedly saying "Mama, Mama! Look what I c-" but she stops when the snake lifts its head. Stonepaw screams in surprise, dropping the snake in the process. Moonstar lunges forward and swiftly kills the snake, shown as a silhouette with white detailing. Moonstar then glares down at Stonepaw, now with blood on her face. She coldly says "What were you thinking, bringing a live snake into our camp?" Stonepaw nervously replies "I- I didn't know it was still alive!" to which Moonstar replies "You shouldn't even be catching them at all!" Beetletail sees this scene and comes running over, exclaiming "Moonstar, it's just a little garter-" only to be interrupted by Moonstar, who yells "A snake is a snake!!!" She then glares down at Stonepaw again, but her expression softens when she sees that Stonepaw is crying. Moonstar curls around Stonepaw, saying "Oh, sweetie… You just scared me, that's all. If it had been venomous, you could have gotten yourself or somebody else really hurt. So please… don't do that again. Understood?" Stonepaw replies "Yes, mama…" End Image Description.]

Beetletail finishes with "…and that's where kits come from!" Crowkit looks at him with sparkly eyes and says "Wow! You're so smart! Are you going to be my mentor?" A partial eclipse of the lesser sun by a gibbous moon, somewhere in Carnissus's southern hemisphere.

The two stars in Carnissus's system are known as the "true sun" and the "lesser sun", respectively. They are of equal size and brightness, although to Carnissans the lesser sun appears much smaller due to its distance. At its closest, it shines about twice as brightly as the full moon. It is visible during the day, meaning sometimes all three celestial bodies can be seen in the sky at once. The lesser sun is too far away to impart any extra heat upon the world.

The true sun eclipses the lesser one once a year, causing a slight dimming in the daylight. This event drifts later by about a day each year due to the orbits of the two stars. The eclipse lasts long enough that all or part of it is usually visible from most places in the world, and many cultures consider this a holy day. For example, it marks the new year on the Cherisangi calendar.

The moon can also eclipse the lesser sun, about as frequently as it eclipses the true one and with a similarly narrow range of visibility. Unlike other eclipses involving the moon, however, these are not tethered the phase of the moon. Totality is less spectacular than an eclipse of the true sun, but is still very much noticeable at night. During the day is produces a similar dimming effect to the yearly two-sun eclipse, but if the moon is poorly lit it often looks like the second sun simply vanishes for a time.

The moon itself is pretty much the same as our own, save for the large streak of magic on the near side of its southern hemisphere. The origin of this "scar" on the moon is unknown, and every mythology has its own explanation of what it is and where it came from. The Riaken, for example, believe it to be a magical storm just like the one at Carnissus's north pole, while the Kattans believe it is a hole that all the world's magic pours out of.

Carnissus is the world of my fantasy setting, MagiCarnivora. It is inhabited by semi-anthropomorphic carnivoran mammals, referred to as "Carnissans" to differentiate them from their non-anthro kin, which also still exist in this world.

While in many ways Carnissus is similar to earth - Same size, only slightly cooler climate, and familiar flora and fauna - There are also many differences. The sun rises in the west and sets in the east, and there is another, much dimmer sun ever-present in the distance. Magic affects almost every part of the world, in ways that aren't always noticeable... and are sometimes very noticeable.

The maps shown above are non-diagetic: nobody on current-day Carnissus would have the means or desire to create a fully accurate map of the entire world. I plan to eventually draw up how certain cultures draw their maps, just for fun.
