Previews of the DGS2 artbook came out and I’m in huge shock right now because I just noticed this but Ryuunosuke’s DLC outfit is matching with (prosecutor) Asougi’s………………………
He has boots and gloves… and look…. the back and shoulder straps match too….
This whole time I thought it was based off of Sherlock’s outfit but…. I think that’s intended to match with Asougi…………… (holds head)

Heya! If the British dlc case trial happens on barok's birthday, then do we know when his birthday is??(like in the location text boxes that say 22 December, great lobby things?)
I wish! It just uses a “certain day, certain time” kind of layout iirc...I was sad there was no canon bday for him.

Just a little thing I noticed, but Asougi’s emblem as a defense attorney had a shield in the back, and Asougi’s emblem as a prosecutor is a sword (I guess?)

Hey, was wondering if we ever got confirmation that Barok was the one that sent to Asougi's family that angry letter.
That was never actually confirmed, no. Thinking back, I kind of doubt Barok would ever do something like that; it was probably another noble (definitely at least one with high enough standing to be allowed in on a secret trial, at least) who lost a family member to the Professor.

Hi! I was wondering if there was any explanation to different surnames for Sithe and Maria. As I know, it was illegal back there to have, well, illegal kids (such as born before marriage and so on). At first I thought Courtney could've adopt her, but woudn't the procedure change Maria's surname to Sithe\Simon then? Or am I concerned about it more than I should? x) (sorry for bad Eng)
As far as I can remember, there was ONE throwaway line about their differing last names, concerning their family situation being complicated. Other than that, though, we don’t have any concrete answer. I imagine the name is likely from Sithe’s husband (ex-husband? deceased husband??? who knows).
Though I suddenly got the thought that, like with Iris, Sithe intentionally had Maria keep a different last name to protect her from stigma, should Sithe’s own crimes ever be revealed.

“I’m making a ‘new Ace Attorney’.”
On a day three years after the production of our previous work “Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney”, while we were leisurely munching on ramune and enjoying the fresh air, Takumi said this to me.
Continuing after that, with his eyes sparkling, “Phoenix’s ancestor will appear in the Meiji era!” Furthermore, he said, quite proudly, “Sherlock Holmes will be there!!”
I have completely forgotten my reaction in response to that, whether it was “Se, se-se-seriously!?” or “H, huh… (already heard from the rumors in the wind)”. I must have responded with the same sparkling eyes, “I’ve been waiting for this! This is surely a worthwhile job!”
In the following two years from that day, TakumiD and the staff members set out to make a “completely new turnabout world”, and through a heap of challenges and trial-and-error, we all used up as much of our energy as possible. To make the world of “Dai Gyakuten Saiban” shine! To try to give life to the characters!
That process was truly one trial after another, and there were many times where my heart was about to break in half. But looking back at this crystallization of drafts, design art, and the many artworks along with the main story, thinking back to the “world” that I imagined with shimmering eyes two years ago, I am filled with thoughts of whether I was able to form it. To those who worked hard by my side without giving up, thank you, and thank you for your hard work.
I wasn’t able to introduce every single piece of art material, but I truly hope that this book could create more colorful memories for those people who played the game! It would also bring me joy if this book spurs those who haven’t played the game to go on an “adventure” in the world of Dai Gyakuten Saiban.
Finally, I give my heartfelt gratitude to you who purchased this book. Thank you so very much!
And so, I will see you later…
- Nuri Kazuya (2015, Winter)

What are your favorite side character of DGS AND DGS 2? My favorite side character is Pat and Rola, Enoch Debbler, Mittermont couple, and Niko.
Benjamin Dobinbough, 100%. I’m too attached to the idea of him and Barok being friends tbh.
I otherwise tend to forget most case-specific characters pretty quickly, no matter the game.

Can you type DGS characters via mbti
I sure as heck can’t, I don’t know the first thing about mbti.
Though if someone sees this and wants to take a stab at it, go right ahead

Hey there! I recently got DGS2 and was wondering what/if you had a guide on hand while you played the game? If so, would you happen to have a link to the guide, because I'm more than likely going to get stuck at various points lol.
I did use a guide! I don’t think I’ve ever played an AA game without one kfdlha.
I used this one, but there’s another one here that hides spoilers until you highlight them!

Hey, you know about the audio CD where Ryūnosuke sings London Bridge in English? It was on YouTube for awhile, but now I can't find it. :c
Ah, yeah! That was a preview for the drama CD that came with limited editions of DGS2.
Maybe not tonight, since it’s a little too late for that, but at some point I might be able to rip my CD and get both THAT version.....and a slightly more hilarious version he recites later in the drama.
(most of the drama itself is...imo, pretty boring: 221b fam gets souseki’s manuscript in the mail, and the bulk of the drama cd is them taking turns reading it. it lost me 5 minutes in, but the first and last tracks are cute enough.)

aoi-mikazuki replied to your post “DGS2 Asinine Attorney: England”
I know all we get is one tiny pic but I think the stuffed animal charm is a bat, not a cat... Mr. Vampire with bats in his office and all... ^^;
See, I originally thought the same, but then I looked at it again and I thought it was a cat????? Idk anymore. Bat is definitely more likely, to be fair

did dgs2 ever bring up why exactly asougi was so insistent on bringing ryuu along with him to england? like knowing what we do now about his mission, it seems like the kind of thing he'd want to leave Ryuu out of so he wouldn't wind up being an accomplice or anything like that. Was there a reason or does he just really like Ryuu that much
Well, there are two related reasons, from what I can tell.
The first, which he’s talked about since the first game, is that he believes Ryuu has the natural abilities to be a defense attorney.  He probably wanted to help Ryuu foster those via this trip.
Second, he mentions in DGS2′s credits that, had something gone awry and he wound up in the defendant’s chair, he wanted Ryuu to be the one to defend him.  Given what he saw of Ryuu’s own trial back in Japan, he probably trusted in Ryuu’s abilties more than anyone else.

This is frankly remarkable and only strengthens my conviction that the estate would sue the fuck outta Capcom Murika if they got wind of this game for the two (s) references noted above
ACD Canon’s Copyright
OK so I decided to look into the ridiculous state of the ACD canon’s copyright again and because US copyright protects certain things up to 95 years (HOLY HELL), ten Holmes stories remain copyrighted in the US, the latest going up until 2022.
“The Adventure of the Creeping Man” (1923)
“The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire” (1924)
“The Adventure of the Three Garridebs” (1924)
“The Adventure of the Illustrious Client” (1924)
“The Adventure of the Three Gables” (1926)
“The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier” (1926)
“The Adventure of the Lion’s Mane” (1926)
“The Adventure of the Retired Colourman” (1926)
“The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger” (1927)
“The Adventure of Shoscombe Old Place” (1927)
Just add 95 onto that publish year and you’ve got when the copyright expires.  Add onto this that the Estate itself had at one point claimed that “if anything remained copyrighted, it was ALL copyrighted” (that was shot down by various courts, thank GOD); and had also sued an author for writing a book about Holmes’ retirement (adapted into the film “Mr. Holmes”) because he pulled details from these last 10 stories…we have what I think may be the Main Fear for localizing DGS.
I know two of these stories have details–even if only very small ones–referenced in DGS.  “Three Garridebs” gets a mention via John and Joan’s surname in the first game, while “Veiled Lodger” gets a light nod via the blue bottle filled with poison meant for suicide in the second.  The copyrights expire for those stories in 2019 and 2022, respectively.
I don’t know if there are other smaller references to the events in these stories, or even to Sherlock’s actions, in the game, but given how god damn persistent the Estate is….even if there’s a chance DGS could fly under the radar in the US, I wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom didn’t wanna risk that.

the funniest part about this whole copyright situation is that certain elements of sherlock holmes's character depicted in these 10 stories are specifically protected, like an 'appreciation of the attractions of women', so sherlock holmes cannot be legally straight until 2022
WHY DID YOU COME INTO MY INBOX WITH THIS WHILE I WAS EATING i coughed up a lung....
well in that case i suppose sherlock’s got the hots for barok
