Hey there! I'm wondering what synastry aspects and overlays you believe are the most Significant for happy long term relationships?

This is a hard one! So many have enough positives to show attraction or positives for a relationship and the list of them all would be too long for me to cover in just one post. But here are some that immediately stand out and some that indicate more long-term unions: 

Aspects:

*Trines and Sextiles always show more harmonious connections and can’t be ignored in general as something positive or indicating longevity for a relationship.

Venus Conjunction Mars can have a stronger connection than I think people realize. Conjunction is seen as comfortable but many times smothering or too similar. With Venus and Mars they have an understanding of each other’s wants and needs in a relationship!

Venus Trine Mars you have so much attraction and typically on a romantic level! Complementing energies that can indicate ongoing love, passion, and fasciantion. 

Sun Trine Mars is sometimes referred to as one of the major “marriage aspects”. It indicates passion but also stability.

Moon Sextile Pluto is all about emotional sharing and intensity. Can shed light on how deep two people can get with each other.

Moon Conjunction Neptune can be a complex aspect with a lot of pros and cons but there is a caring, receptive vibe that can be seen as a major way to connect.

*Trines with Saturn can be a good aspect for marriage and general stability.

Saturn Trine Ascendant can be promising for mutual respect and an outward stability that others see in the relationship. This can be favorable for growing confidence and supporting each other in their goals.

Moon Trine Saturn indicates emotional investment and stability.

Mercury Trine Saturn is promising for stable communication and teamwork.

Venus Trine Saturn gives a relationship a comfortable feeling and can show an area of endurance. 

Mars Trine Saturn can actually indicate an area of maturity in a relationship.

Venus Square Neptune... yes a square, known a lot for illusions this can also add a mysterious type of attraction, one that feels magical or other worldly. With other positive influences in a chart this can be a place where they are receptive to each other. This can be a place of healing due to this couple being able to sense or see any pain they have together. However I think this take might be a bit controversial in the astrology community! 

Sun Trine Pluto can be a great indicator of united strength and there is  magnetism, intense attraction, and they dive into each other’s depths.

Moon Conjunct North Node can be a helpful and empowering bond when it comes to pulling the North Node person out of their comfort zone and making them a better person or more fulfilled person. The Node person may also feel deeply and instantly connected with the Moon person.

Overlays

Venus in the 7th House is an overlay I don’t think any astrologer can ignore. That is because this is the stereotypical “harmony, balanced, ideal marriage” type of overlay. This indicates an area where partners make up for each other, where there is idealism, romance, and compromise. BUT you have to watch out for smothering each other, not facing conflict in a healthy way, and the relationship becoming stale.

Venus in the 9th House can indicate a very open and tolerant atmosphere. There is shared interests, beliefs, education, and friends. This can be a building block for a relationship in a very realistic and synergetic way.

Venus in the 4th House is usually not seen as a positive or easy placement in synastry. There is fear of vulnerability, doubt in the security of the relationship, some say the house mutes or smothers Venus, and there can be tension with each partner’s wants and needs. BUT there is magnetism and a deep connection that can be formed here. With maturity, respect, and especially reassurance this could actually turn into a place of safety and comfort. Over time the Venus person can feel especially safe with the House person and the House person be a nurturing force for Venus.

Venus in the 5th House is known for being one of the most romantic placements! Here love and relationships are a celebration. There are feelings of warmth, passion, and affection.

Sun or Venus in the 8th House are both really famous and I think beloved placements for overlays and if not beloved certainly hyped up or always ranted about. I would like to focus on Sun in the 8th which can create depth, intensity, and a spellbinding connection. When it comes to planets in the 8th House and we are talking synastry, you get a lot of passion, healing, depth, loyalty, but all that extreme good can come with just as extreme challenges or “bads”.  With Sun in the 8th challenges can change a person and help them grow or at least gain very valuable insight. There is self-discovery through a relationship here.

Sun in the 3rd House is promising for a strong mental connection. It can indicate good communication and have a positive or uplifting feel. There is an opportunity to learn about the world together. While there isn’t talk about magnetism or romance with this overlay, I still think it can indicate a lot of happiness and easygoing dynamics to a relationship.

Moon in the 1st House can have instant emotional attraction! Not just attraction but it doesn’t take long for the couple to get comfortable around each other.

Moon in the 2nd House can sometimes be pointed as a good place for marriage. It shows emotional security and trust that tends to manifest in a tangible way. There is a practical feel to love with this placement. This can also be interpreted as highly valuing and appreciating each other.

Mercury in the 7th House is amazing for communication, patience, and acceptance! Here there is harmony in intellect and expressing yourself.

Mars in the 10th House can remind me of a power couple type of placement. Here there is support for each other’s goals and watching out for each other’s interests and reputation. But sometimes it can indicate an area of competition or that conflicts and challenges of the relationship can fall into the public’s view. As for stability it shows a strong connection to the outside world and in that way a sort of public contract for each other’s relationship. 

Mars in the 7th House can indicate romantic passion and the ability to face problems head on together. This placement might get labeled too often about just physical intimacy and passion but that is a simple interpretation. It can go beyond that as an indicator that a lot of drive, will, and energy is put into the relationship.
