Title:Â Viral Intervention: Final Artifact Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Statement of Intent: After thoughtful discussions, our group decided to use a paint-stained tarp as the centerpiece of our project. We presented it to a group of high school students, explaining our sentence, “From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path.” At first, the tarp's rough and dirty appearance seemed uninviting, but when invited to interact with it, one student suggested creating a path of handprints. This idea symbolized overcoming fear and hesitation. As students added their handprints, the tarp transformed into a collective artwork, representing how individual contributions can reshape perceptions and create something meaningful. This unexpected interaction reflected the spirit of our sentence and turned the "dangerous" into something collaborative and inspiring.

Viral Intervention:Â Final Documentation

Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Statement of Intent: For our group’s final art project, we aimed to create something innovative by blending various materials to symbolize growth and change. Throughout the process, we documented everything with photos and notes, capturing each stage from brainstorming to completion. Collaborating as a team brought challenges, especially when merging our diverse ideas and skills, but these moments pushed us to think creatively and find common ground. The final documentation, which includes our photos, notes, and reflections, highlights the evolution of our piece and the teamwork that shaped it.

Viral Intervention: Budget

Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Setting a budget for the project involved identifying what we needed and estimating costs for materials, tools, and supplies. We focused on being resourceful, using affordable or recycled items to keep expenses down. A spending cap was set, and we tracked purchases carefully to stay within limits. Whenever costs started to creep up, we adjusted our plan to maintain financial balance. The budget was essential in keeping the project feasible and on track without overspending.

Viral Intervention: Timeline

Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Creating a timeline for the project helped us divide the work into clear stages with realistic deadlines. We started by outlining key tasks—concept development, material collection, experimentation, and final assembly. Each step was assigned to team members based on their strengths, with extra time built in for unexpected challenges. The timeline kept us focused and ensured we managed our time effectively, helping us move steadily toward our goal without feeling overwhelmed.

Viral Intervention: Tasks

Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Creating a task list helped us organize the project step by step. We started with gathering materials and preparing the space. Next, we focused on sketching ideas, experimenting with designs, and refining our concept. Along the way, we tested different techniques and made adjustments to improve the outcome. Updating the list regularly kept us on track and ensured we didn’t miss anything important. It was a practical tool that turned a big project into manageable steps, guiding

Viral Interventions: Final Proposal

Sentence: From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path
Medium: Mixed Media (Paint and painters tarp)
Statement of Intent: For our final project, we plan to create an installation that explores transformation and the potential for growth in adversity. Using a combination of digital projections and reclaimed materials, the artwork will represent the contrast between chaos and resolution. The interactive design invites viewers to navigate through the installation, encouraging personal interpretations of the journey from struggle to discovery. Our process will involve research, material experimentation, and collaborative problem-solving, with the aim of creating an engaging and thought-provoking piece. By blending technology and physical elements, we hope to challenge conventional boundaries of art while reflecting on resilience and innovation.

Viral Interventions: Propose

Medium: Digital sketch
Statement of intent : “For this project, I drew a sketch that represents our group’s idea, which was inspired by our chosen sentence. The sentence evokes a sense of danger in a dark, silent forest, and I aimed to visually capture that atmosphere in the sketch. The sketch features elements that reflect the eerie and ominous setting, such as towering, shadowy trees, a dense and almost suffocating darkness, and subtle details that hint at hidden dangers lurking within the forest. Through this visual representation, I wanted to emphasize the unsettling stillness and the tension of being in an environment where silence feels heavy and foreboding. The sketch connects deeply to the theme by focusing on the emotions and sensations that the sentence conveys, allowing viewers to experience the same sense of danger and mystery.”

Viral interventions: Compose

Medium: Digital art
Statement of Intent: For this project, I was challenged to interpret the phrase "From a dangerous landscape emerged an unlikely path" through digital memes. My goal was to juxtapose the gravity of the phrase with unexpected humor, using visuals that depict chaotic or absurd scenarios. By doing this, I aimed to capture the tension between struggle and surprise, showing how even the most improbable solutions can arise in the face of adversity. The humor not only lightens the mood but also emphasizes the resilience and creativity that emerge in challenging situations.

MEL CHIN - QUOTE/COMMENT/QUESTION (QCQ)
QUOTE “Making art, I think, is not about one track, not one method. But the diversity of ideas and how they survive and the methods they are transmitted is very important.”
COMMENT This quote strikes a chord with me because it emphasizes the fluidity and adaptability in art. Often, I get stuck thinking there’s a “right” way to create—a singular path that defines success as an artist. Mel Chin’s perspective reminds me that art thrives in the exploration of diverse ideas and approaches. It’s not just about the final piece but the journey of discovering, collaborating, and experimenting. This inspires me to embrace a more open and experimental approach in my creative process, even when it feels uncertain or unconventional.
QUESTION How do you find balance between exploring different methods and staying consistent in your artistic style? Does focusing on diversity in ideas ever feel overwhelming or does it fuel your creativity? How do you decide which ideas are worth pursuing?

Title: "Viral Interventions: Present (Final)" Together with my group, we collaborated on a project set in a location resembling a tropical forest. We filmed one of our members portraying someone lost and searching for a way out. The twist is that danger takes the form of an unseen operator silently recording and stalking him. This concept highlights the constant presence of danger and the importance of staying vigilant, no matter where you are.
Words that we chose in group: Dangerous, Landscape, Emerged, Unlikely, Path
Word I chose: Unlikely

Inhabiting Space: Final For this project, I wanted to imagine myself in the winter forest from my exterior space project, visualizing what it would be like if I were truly there. I sketched myself in 2D, capturing a sense of vulnerability as I stand alone in the cold, feeling scared and frozen. This piece reflects not only the physical chill of winter but also the emotional isolation of being in such a vast, quiet place. By placing myself in this setting, I aimed to explore the contrasting feelings of nostalgia and discomfort, as well as the unsettling beauty of nature’s colder side. Through this drawing, I’ve captured my imagined experience, blending memory with an element of storytelling.
