Cecelia knew parties like these weren’t Teddy’s cup of tea, but she still appreciated him being there and dressing up with her. She put a lot of thought into the event, and was very pleased with how well it was going. Coming up to Teddy, she heard him and quickly went to peck his lips. “Love, Theo is fine. I just spoke to the nanny, he’s sleeping soundly,” Cecelia said, slipping her hand into his. “We’ll be home before you know it. Now come on, let’s go dance.” 

teddy looked up, a pout on his lips. he had been found out, he should have known she would be close by. he pocked his phone, truly looking like he hadn’t just looked at their son from the small camera they had to always make sure he was okay. dancing? that was something teddy knew how to do. he took dancing and piano lessons as a child. “just making sure...” he said, pouting still at her.

theo almost felt foolish in the halloween costume, he blamed it on not dressing up other than to work since he was in his undergrad days. but. to anything to make his girlfriend happy. he roamed the door, not truly sure where he belonged in the crowds. he didn’t have social anxiety, he had stood before the united nations before this was just different. maybe he just wasn’t social. he took a drink of his wine. “maybe i should go check on theo,” he mumbled to himself, looking down to his watch, it had been about five hours or so since he had last seen his son.

the italian was a bit lost. he had been accepted as a full time staff member of columbia, apparently one of the ivy league universities in the united states. though he wasn’t quite sure why, seeing as it didn’t seem to offer anything special but a heavy price tag for students. “do you, perhaps, know where i can find the dean’s office?”

“Do you like the black or the gold table cloths better?” Cecelia asked, holding up the two different ones for Teddy to see. With the ball coming up, Cecelia didn’t have too much to do because her event planner was doing most of it. However, she did like to put a personal touch on it and oversee all the decoration decisions being made. “Be honest. Don’t tell me what you think I want to hear. I promise I can handle it.”

teddy looked up from his newborn son to his girlfriend. he took in the cloths in and looked to cece, he knew she would be able to handle it but really. he didn’t see what a differences the cloths would make. “uh,” he started before changing the subject. “should you really be working so much, love? you’ve just had a baby.”

Seeing Teddy finally hold their son caused the smile on Cecelia’s face to widen even more. It was everything she imagined it to be and more. To some, it might be a bit crazy for them to already have a child together since they hadn’t been together very long, but everything felt right. They were happy, and that was all that mattered. “Love, there’s no need to thank me. This was a collaboration on both our parts.”

teddy could only shake his head. “no my love,” he whispered, bending down to kiss her forehead. “i did nothing, you did all the hard work. and i will forever be thankful.” he smiled to her before his eyes moved to their son. he had just arrive and already he was calm, hopefully something he inherited from himself? he hoped he got his mother’s eyes, and her care for everyone around her.

teddy’s manhattan apartment. he’s a lover of cooking and needed a kitchen and dining area to be able to entertain in. his bedroom is the loft and loves it. his extra bedroom works as his office.

Cecelia loved being a mother more than anything, so childbirth was a small price to pay for someone so perfect. She excited to see Teddy become a father, and she would be there for him every step of the way like he was for her during her entire pregnancy. He was the best partner she could possibly ask for, and she couldn’t wait to see what the future had in store for them. 

“I suppose we’ll see who he favors more as he grows,” Cecelia said, unable to stop smiling. It felt like time stood still and it was just the three of them for the time being. “Please? It would make me so happy and I know you’ve been dying to,” she told him, shifting their son in her arms. “I think the name Theodore suits him quite well, just like we talked about. And he’ll have your surname, of course.” 

theo didn’t argue with her, she knew him so well. he nodded, too excited to say any words. he gently took theo in his arms and honestly, the tears were almost instant. he thought it knew love before, with cece and her two children but there was something pure and unmatched about loving his child. he looked up to her, wiping his tears as he slowly swayed his song in his arms. “thank you,” he whispered, pressing a small kiss to his forehead.

“Here he is!” Cecelia’s obstetrician said after she had given her last big push. Finally loosening her grip on Teddy’s hand, Cecelia let out a sigh of relief and relaxed even further when she heard their newborn son’s first cries. Even though this was her third child, labor had still been long, but finally seeing their baby made everything worth it. Cecelia’s eyes filled with happy tears as he was placed on her chest and covered with a blanket. He was absolutely perfect. Looking to Teddy, she smiled as he cut the cord. She had thought about this day since she found out she was pregnant, and she truly had never been happier than she was now.

Once their son was briefly taken and given a more detailed health exam, he was returned to Cecelia’s arms. “Teddy, he’s so beautiful! He looks just like you,” Cecelia said, kissing the newborn’s head. “Would you like to hold our son?” She asked, looking up to Teddy with a smile on her face.

teddy had never seen labor before. it was intense, it was brutal and it made him want to get snipped in the middle of it all. and then he heard his son’s first cried. his attention turned from cece to their son, he was bloody and beautiful. he kissed her forehead before going to cut the cord. he never before had seen something so pure and his before, how was he just moments ago in cece? how did they make that? 

he watched as their baby was being checked on before mumbling words of love and praise to his girlfriend.  “i think he looks like his beautiful mother,” teddy responded, smiling down at them. he blinked, he wanted nothing more than to hold his son. but shook his head. “no, no you hold him cece, you deserve it.”
