a short scene where scarecrow intrudes on riddlers sleep

Edward woke to the cold yet undeniably gentle caress of a hand to his cheek. He even leaned into it for a brief moment, calling to the affection he’s wanted all his life, now being presented to him unasked for. Then, it hits him. This is his bedroom, nobody is allowed in here, even Harley obeys this rule (most of the time, anyways). His eyes snap open and his own hand shoots up to grab the unknown wrist. Edward releases a breath he didn’t know he was holding when he recognizes the tall, looming figure before him. He pushes aside the annoyance creeping up at the thought of the Scarecrow undeniably enjoying the momentary fear he managed to draw out of him. He loosens his grip on the uninvited man’s wrist, not yet fully letting go, and he notices something. With the return of a gentle stroke of a thumb against his cheek, bare skin. Jon had removed his gloves to touch him. Was this an act of affection or to draw out Edward’s typical revulsion from physical contact, he does not know. He simply stares up at the man, waiting for more. His own fingers trailing up Jon’s arm, feeling over the skin that, at this point, is mostly scar tissue.
