A Talk with Yunhao Zhang

UArts Animation welcomes Yunhao Zhang for a chat about his life and career experience as a storyboard artist, 3D generalist, and animation director working in games and feature films for over ten years. Students are encouraged to attend this talk especially if they are interested in the FA24 special topics course ANIM*320*01 Storyboarding 2, which will be taught by Yunhao and be designed to advance skills in this important area. Open to all students. Where: Terra room 931 When: Tuesday, March 19th 11:30am - 12:45pm

Yunhao Zhang's experience includes working on five animated features, six TV shows, and four games, for studios including Disney, Blizzard, Alcon Entertainment. Yunhao's background includes hands-on experience with the full CG production pipeline with a focus on storyboarding and pre-production.

Katie Graziano is a story artist and director with over six years experience working professionally in television animation. Her experience includes story director at Warner Bros on Jellystone, story artist at Titmouse on STUGO, development story artist at Disney, writer & story artist at Dreamworks on The Mighty Ones, story artist at Nickelodeon on Zokie of Planet Ruby, story artist at Warner Bros on Thundercats Roar, and more!

Drew Applegate is a story artist and director that loves doing comedy and action storyboards with over seven years experience working professionally in television animation. His experience includes directing episodes at Titmouse on Kiff, directing shorts and storyboarding episodes at Disney on Amphibia, Billy Dilly, and Pickle and Peanut, as well as storyboarding at Warner Bros Animation on Thundercats Roar! and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.

This Saturday a fantastic cel painting workshop hosted by faculty Karl Staven had students working on their own hand painted cels to later be paired with background art! Students left with a newfound appreciation for their animation software, no doubt!

UArts had an exciting all day visit from David Daniels, accomplished animation artist and inventor of the @strata_cut technique. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends witnessed demos of the process from new pieces built and cut in class to the live slicing of a Daniels original rotating head during his evening presentation!
