It's the final stretch!
The culmination of my efforts are finally reaching up to me. Snowballing the past month, I can finally say I'm current and up-to-date with everything relating to assignments for my project, and I'm incredibly satisfied with how it's turning out.
A full 13 pages of research has been done, as well as final touches to my actual recorded videos. As of writing, I am also uploading my trailer for my series! All that's necessary of next is to get one last hurrah via approval from my professor, one final reflection in the form of a video, and that'll be it.
I just know that everybody's gonna finish with a bang. I hope that all my peers will be flourishing as well.

Progress Update (11/7/2023)
Finally! Progress!
In the past 2 weeks, I've been able to consolidate more and more focus onto this capstone and finally with things picking up off the ground, I'm able to talk more about how this process has been going. There's been personal hurdles in terms of scheduling as with a lack of responses and conflicting plans, but I've been able to finally come up with some tangible progress.
First off, I've toyed around with creating a title card and created this as a sort of first version of the logo/title card. I wanted it to be simple and succinct, while also incorporating elements such as my university's color palette into the logo in order to make it more cohesive. I've gone through some iterations of this very logo, primarily changing the positioning of the 2 objects and coloration for the text, but I like how it is in its current state as it visually feels more fuller as opposed to having the umbrella flipped.
The direction of this project has definitely shifted from my original vision. I was originally aiming for something like YouTube Shorts or TikTok videos in terms of duration, length, and pacing— but as I scheduled these interviews, and actually conducted them, I've realized that there really isn't a way to make a meaningful interview in that type of format. People have a lot more to say and more nuance that I feel like it would be doing an disservice for me to go out of my way and cut down on what they're saying. On a more technical aspect, I've been handling it fairly well. Due to the nature of interviews, a bulk of the work is done when we actually meet. When it comes to the post-processing aspect, it's centered around cutting down on what needs to be said and what could potentially cut out, but as aforementioned, it's a balancing act that I need to really consider. There's far more that goes on when it comes to a graduate's life, things that I have not even put down as my questions and as I'm leaning more, I'm also personally adapting with each interview to be able to ask people for more about how their work life and personal life is. While I'm learning more about them, I'm also learning more about how graduate life might challenge myself as they touch on subjects such as simple survival and complacency in the moving world.

Bi-weekly Progress Report (9/26/2023)
These past two weeks were fairly jampacked with hours to deal with my internship, alongside with other classes being done. We finally completed the first part of my internship by filming one of the interviewees necessary and we're going into the post-editing section, where I feel I'm more competent in. Talking about the internship itself, it really prepared me for how I might want to approach my senior project. While we were primarily videographers, we also had assisted with the questioning at the site as we developed more things to ask. We were able to synthesize, as well as somewhat connect more with the story that they were trying to tell. I definitely want to take a more personalized approach to the questioning, rather than simply looking numerically at whether or not graduates reached the professional workforce in record time. I've added a bit more questions as well as made notes in the form of comments that would help to guide the process. The questions deal more with the idea of "are there any extenuating factors that are keeping you out of the field" and "are there any opportunities that you aren't getting due to de-centralized and unrealized areas where you could apply," leading to inquiries of that nature. As for what needs to get done, I need to start finalizing questions and charting out meetings with the people that I need to interview. I plan on getting in contact with possible interviewees and start talks to possibly get interviews. Not only that, but alongside that I can further my own research by looking for more sources to write my paper on.

Bi-weekly Progress Report (9/12/2023)
Progress has been relatively smooth, but that's primarily due to the fact that a majority of the action will begin next week, when we have to finally start shooting for the practicum. Instead, these past 2 weeks have been focused on the likes of preparation for the actual interviewing process.
My mentor and I had a meeting last week Wednesday where we had discussed with the actual team we were collaborating with, and we had decided to do a post-meeting meeting after that was finished, and it was a rather eye opening experience. I had asked him about his feelings and his thoughts on his process and it gave me a lot of things to think about, such as how he personally had to leverage himself and what he had to do in order to make things work.
I had taken notes during the meeting, and above is a snippet that is more personalized for me as it has more to do with my own personal project. I had brainstormed questions with my mentor and we had come up with several that could be modified that I could potentially ask if I wanted to either do a google survey or if I wanted to go ahead and try to conduct interviews.
I have one more meeting tomorrow Wednesday, where we will discuss more about the Voices of Kalaeloa project and what we could work on, as well as being able to brainstorm more on what I'm hoping to get out of this internship.

When it comes to the start of this school year's progress, I'm going to have to do multiple things at once. First, I have to make sure that I know what I'm working on— which is a deliverable of some sort, on the transition period for college students where they are graduating and are looking to join the work force. I need to find academic resources that have done studies on this, which I've found some success on with a few articles, but they all slightly stray from my own research topic. I feel like as this is more of a research I'd have to conduct on my own with my internship, I'll take into account academic sources, while also attributing my own experiences, as well as collaborating with my internship leader for his help as he's a graduate. Secondly, I'm examining what type of deliverable I wanna create. I'm leaning towards either an academic paper or a video of sorts that interviews college graduates and their success or lack thereof in the professional force. The latter option has a hurdle in which I'm entirely dependent on finding people who are willing to be interviewed by me, as well as me having to create a survey that properly addresses all the problems that may arise when it comes to joining the labor market. Finally, with my own internship, I had an introductory meeting last week that introduced me to the company I would be interning with technically, which is Hunt Inc. I've noticed that when Gabby (my internship leader) talked with the employees, there's a lot of negotiating that has to be done when it comes to adjusting to everybody's needs, and it's definitely showing me that I need to be on top of things. Even simply observing Gabby, I'm learning more and more about how it's like to be in the talks as a more freelance artist.
