come and camp Friday night, choose from 3 group rides Saturday, race or watch racers on country fixed gear short track before the farmers market on Sunday! Wow, what a weekend if i do say so myself.
3rd.69th annual NUTMEG NOR’EASTER ! This year we’ve gone legalish with an official venue on a 300 acre organic farm deep in the nutmegcountry outback! So soft and so quaint.
You MUST register for your camping on the farm here if you are to camp Friday or Saturday night. Prices are per person. Camp opens at 3pm on Friday. Included is plenty of personal space to pitch your tent or park your Toyota overlander, a hole to poop in, a shower (albeit and outdoor shower), and breakfast & coffee served by chef Ron Romance each morning (gluten free and vegan options). It will be worth $25 a night. You also get the softest experience, as you can just leave all yer stuff set up. There is a big fire bon fire pit too, we will be having a good time. If you don’t wanna pay to camp, yer on your own. Maybe you’ll find a ditch somewhere nearby. There will be NO camping at Troy and Jen’s this year. Sunday a.m. there will be a fall harvest fest on the farm, so you might wanna stick around and buy some pies or other quaint things.
Regardless of your camping preferences, you MUST pre reg for the ride here on bike reg. I stress that you should do this all sooner than later if ya really wanna come, as I haven’t even announced this yet, and half the spots are full do to the reg link getting leaked on the internet. Thinking Julian Assange had something to do with it.
This is a special event I’d like to think, and speaking of special, we will for a third year in a row be offering allllmost all you can eat pizza for $20 through our friends at Fire in the Kitchen. Ask anyone, and these anyone’s will tell you its the best pizza in the state. You MUST pre reg for pizza too. You will want it, don’t be cheep. Limited pizzas available to not overwhelm the chef. Reserve now on bike reg! Plenty of fresh organic veggies available from the farm stand to round out your nutrition.
Please also bring any bike or camera related stuff you wanna sell at the flea market. Nice thing being legalish this year is that you can leave your stuff set up for the weekend. I personally will be selling several cool things at liquidation prices.
The Nutmeg Country Yankee Pedalers will be yankee peddling the usual commemorative t-shirts and trinkets, so bring cash and Venmo for that.
There will be a rest stop at a brewery on all ride lengths. If you wanna change ride lengths day of, thats fine. This is pretty loose since its not a race really. We might do a few timed randuro sections, we can feel it out.
On Sunday you can stick around and explore the quaintness more. The foliage will be popping like pimples on a teenager... ermmm... If weather permits, perhaps we can ride to the beach and hang etc.
So if ya wanna go, i urge you to register now. Thats not just salesperson me, but for real, its half full thanks to Julian Assange.
More info to come via email closer to event date. See ya there!
Xoxo
Ronaldo Romance jr.

Hiiiiihere is the ridewithgps route.  take a look at the POI and note the starts and finishes of the Grandé Randuro sectors.  there are 4 of them.  4.  four. IV.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26101842
at the very least plz download the ride with GPS app and have this route saved on it.  plz.  the course isn't really marked.  I got a flat and had to turn back so my mom could make me dinner.  so the GPS on yer handlebar or in your phone is your only hope out there in the soft wilds of shoreline Connecticut.
again, if you wish to compete, download strava.  the POIs on the map have the segment names in them.
if you are camping on Friday (tomorrow!), email me so I can get a number and send you in the right direction accordingly.
here's that route again!

NUTMEG NOR’EASTER RIDER’S BIBLE
hi everyone!  on behalf of Martha Stewart, i would like to welcome you to this email.  i will welcome you to #nutmegcountry when you get here on saturday.  fun! below you will find outlined a few of the questions you might have at this moment:::: ROUTE:  i am finalizing the route tomorrow, as i was only able to mark half of it today before a tubeless malfunction had me refusing to put in a tube, instead pumping every 2-3 miles until i got home.  What fun! So i will send the out the route tomorrow.  I can tell you that is has some pavement, some carriage road lumpers, a lot of fast dirt, a little single track, and a lot of places to eat snacks. GROUPS:  we are gonna split up into a A, B, and C groups.  This will be according to how fast you wanna ride.  There will even be a ride leader for the short 20 mile option.  A real live local hott bod rando person like @mr_shredward and @howellybones will be leading each group.  Those groups will try and stay together, with the exception of the randuro segments.  For those parts we will stagger each “racer” every 30 seconds er so.  Then groupo compacto, and roll along taking photos and chatting about tyre pressure. So start thinking about what category you fall under.   GPS:  if you have one BRING IT!  It’s very confusing out there, and even with the group thing and the markings i’ve done, it's extremely easy to get lost.  No land marks, and deep dark woods.  Nothing will happen to you, this is still connecticut after all , but you don't wanna accidentally end up at an outlet mall ya know?  At the very MINIMUM I ask you to download ridewithgps on yer phone and import the gpx track i’ll send you tomorrow.  This is very important!   RANDURO SEGMENTS: are marked beginning and end with green tape.  These are timed exclusively with strava.  Likely if yer gonna race, you already have strava. If you don’t have it and wanna race, download it and don’t tell yer friends.  It’s ok!  There are a few uphill and a few downhill segments.  Some are rough, some are buff.  All can be done on 42mm tyres.  Some are better on 2.3-3.0.  That’s randuro! We will recognize the overall winner, and the individual segment winners.   SUPPORT:  this ride is self supported.  Its easy enough to bail if you have a major mechanical, but don’t expect us to bail you.  The best we can do is send you off in the right direction to hitchhike back to the start… or call yer mom… but bring stuff to fix flats, obvs.  Spare derailleur hangers might not be a bad idea.  Heck, even a spare derailleur!  There are a lot of sticks on the trails right now. FOOD:  ill be flipping pancakes at the start.  Its first come first serve.  Service starts at 9.  We will also be doing the best we can with coffee.  A local roaster (ashlawn farm in lod saybrook) has given us a bunch of beans.  Bring yer camp coffee stuff.  Even if you dont have that stuff, maybe you have a dangle mug. Bring it. There will be a market in chester that you can refuel at.  Its small though.  But its quaint.  Bring enough water to get yerself there.  That’s about 2-3 bottles.   There will be a sole ales pop up in the woods mid way through the ride.  Here we will have complimentary pies.  Pies are quaint.  Joe from Sole ales will be selling a bunch of fresh brews for $3. So bring cash for that.  Might even be some cedar swamp witch stout to be had. FINISH:  at the finish my favorite guest chef will already be firing pies in the wood oven from the back of his truck.  These are seriously wicked good pizzas.  Yer in for a treat.  There will be a vegan option, but gluten free people, yer outa luck.  He’s just gonna keep banging em out in a variety of recipes, so its like a pizza buffet.  We will be selling pizza buffet tickets for $15.  So bring cash for that.  Its the town beach, so just our your beers into yer coffee mugs or water bottles PLZ.  Joe will be selling more beer there too.  He will also be selling beer at the camp out. CRUST DEMO and BIKE SWAP:  there are pavilions to bring your stuff you wanna sell out and set up under.  There will also be some crust bikes to ride around on.  Matt and Goat from crust will be there selling used cars.   CAMP:  if you can’t make it home and wanna camp saturday night, i will be leading a group to set up 7 miles away.  There is a commuter lot at the train station nearby that you can leave your car safely at overnight. The camp spot cannot be driven into, so be sure you can ride your gear in on your bike.  It will be dark, so bring lights. I think that’s it for now!

A carriage road tour of the resplendent fall colourés of #nutmegcountry , Martha Stewarts home state!
an instagram paced ride, with 3 timed (2 down, 1 up) grandé randuro sectors mixed in.  if you think thats totally stupid, then you don't have to do it.  so this event is essentially bringing peace between the war torn and ragged worlds of racers and recliners, as only the true blonde Jesus of cycling would have the heart to do!
so when we finish the ride (69.420 kilometers (likely), 4,000 ft of climbing), we will reconvene at the meet up (as of now its the Clinton town beach).  that could change, hence the “”, but the town beach is good.  it has public restrooms, a parking lot for your car for the day (like 20 spots?), and pavilions.
so at the finish we will have artisanal pizzas being wood fired in an imported oven by one of my favorite guest chefs:::  also fine drinks, crust bikes demos, exclusive crust bikes deals (for real!), and really good bike and bike parts flea market (if only between myself Belmar Bikes and Mr Shredward) (but seriously, bring some stuff to sell, and cash to buy... gonna be some nice stuff for good deals!).
after the party thing (around 6:30?) I will be leading a group to go camping about 10 miles away.  so if you can't get home or whatever, and just wanna camp, bring yer camp stuff and stash it in yer car or someone els’se car (if you took the train from NYC *hint hint)::: do the ride, come back, gourmet party and buy tons of shit you don't need (but need sooooo bad), then ride out to a fire in the woods to go camping on the ground with bugs and stuff.  or just drive home and get a shower and chair massage before lulling into a deep and restful sleep lofted atop your organic buckwheat hulled mattress with your lavender mister on all night.  either way.
so please pre reg here so I have a good handle on how many to expect.  that will help with how many pizza rounds I need to tell my guest chef to make, and how much coffee I need to buy to provide you with elegant pour overs the morning of with complimentary “poppi’s cooking” provided in the price of your reg fee.  bring some cash for pizza and beer.  but the prices will be reasonable, unlike my web store. ;)

This bag culminates eternities of musings while astride a multitude of transportation mediums, spanning flying ruby eyed silken haired dragon lions, to modern day bicycles, e-bikes, and recumbents. The need to carry yer stuff in an attractive and functional manor::: a fine purse accessory for the bicycle, as every bicycle and it's self respecting master deserve and desire. First a brief his/herstory::: Bicycle luggage started out attractively enough in the turn of the 19th century, with beautifully crafted leather frame bags and waxed canvas duffels all mounted rackless, directly to the frame. Gear was simple, and required only the essentials. Over the century we began adding racks and clunky, unnecessary gear until the touring bike, once a simple and attractive package, was now an overladen beast brimming with all the comforts of civilization that the tourists were allegedly trying to ride away from! while that model certainly does still exist (mostly Germans), a new form of paired down off-road touring has emerged in recent years. Due to the unforgiving terrain, gear, and ways of carrying that gear became lighter and more durable out of necessity. Racks were discarded once again, and creative ways of portage persisted. What I am speaking of is of course the modern day "bike packing" craze. Fast forward to now. Sure that bike packing stuff works great, but daaaaaaaamn is it ugly! Like really f-ing ugly! There is not a single classic aesthetic represented on a modern day bike packers rig, save for perhaps the persistent steel frame material that the bicycles are made from. It is my belief that when entering the *natural world on a machine, that the aesthetic of that machine should blend in and become part of the landscape instead of a starkly contrasted eyesore. Save that for the strip malls on the outside of town. Classic is classic for a reason, and that's because it never goes out of style, and nature will (hopefully) never go out of style. So for me, the respectful way of entering the outdoors, is to become part of it, and that is the sentiment, I hope, my high fashion look book will continue to represent. Without further ado, in partnership with the visionaries at swift industries, I present to you the first ever, classically inspired bike packing bag:::: the ültraswift wizard sleeve. A bag to tour off the beaten path with, but one that looks good enough to leave on yer bike when yer back at yer sweet condo and have to make a run to Trader Joe's for 10 bottles of house red to entertain yer Game of Thrones viewing party on yer 200" LCD TV. This truly is a dynamic modern world we are a part of. Be sure you look yer best. -"Poppi" Now onto the tëk spëks:: Martina and I have polled various sorcerers around the tri-state area regarding the very features they attest their general potions and spells to. What I am saying is that we think this bag is mäjik. But not all mäjik pleases everyone. Bikes and tastes are so variable to the point of needing a statistical super computer that goes beyond general wizardry applications to actually tell us how these bags are going to fit your handlebar width X stem length X headtube length X size of your hands X height of yer saddle X etc. The mäjik of this bag lies in what you can fit in it. It's astounding and otherworldly in volume and versatility. There are reinforced daisy chains all over the exterior to lash it just about anywhere you'd like, or not like. Front, or back. That's the point, you get to figure it out. It's an infinitely hackable bag that 94.89767% of the time is gonna work great for you. It's designed to be used rackless or with a rack. Whatever you need or want. Sum of you might not be able to run it rackless because of the above super computer equation, well then you can use it with a bag support. It would be impossible for me to tell you if it will work on your bike. Take the measurements and see if you can do it. If you have the handlebar width, or if you use flat bars, jones bars, albatross type bars, mustache bars, etc. GET THE BIG ONE. You won't be disappointed. If you run the puny bar width, then get the small one, obvs. My signature 666 drop bar comes out next month around the time these will be ready if that helps at all. HAPPY SHOPPING AT MY FINE PUBLIC RESTROOM EXPERIENCE
