আকাশ থেকে মেরিন একাডেমী ও কোরিয়ান EPZ The Bangladesh Marine Academy is a maritime training institution in Chittagong, Bangladesh. This academy provide theoretical and practical training to cadet, deck officer and marine engineer for merchant ship. It is the only university of its kind in the country and was established in 1962. The academy is situated overlooking the Bay of Bengal from the hill tops of Juldia on the east bank of the Karnafuli River, about 20 kilometres south of the Chittagong city. The Korean EPZ is over 2,700 acres, owned by Youngone Corporation. The area will have the largest garments factory complexes in Bangladesh and promotes being Eco-Friendly. St. Martin's Island (Bengali: সেন্ট মার্টিন্স দ্বীপ) is a small island (area only 8 km2) in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River. The island used to belong to Myanmar (Burma). After India and Myanmar (Burma) got independence from Britain, the island got annexed into India. The first settlement started 250 years ago by Arabian sailors who named the island 'Jazeera'. During British occupation the island was named after the then Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mr. Martin as St. Martin Island. The local names of the island are "Narikel jinjira"[3] which means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali, and "Daruchini Dwip" which means "Cinnamon island" in Bengali. কর্ণফুলী পেপার মিল- হল চট্টগ্রামের চন্দ্রঘোনায় কর্ণফুলী নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত একটি রাষ্ট্রীয় মালিকানাধীন কাগজের মণ্ড ও কাগজ উৎপাদনকারী শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠান। এটি বাংলাদেশের সর্ববৃহৎ কাগজ উৎপাদনকারী কোম্পানি। কোম্পানিটি শিল্প মন্ত্রণালয়ের স্বায়ত্তশাসিত সংস্থা বাংলাদেশ কেমিক্যাল ইন্ডাষ্ট্রিজ কর্পোরেশন কর্তৃক পরিচালিত হয়। Karnafuli Paper Mills (KPM) the biggest paper mill in Bangladesh, was established at Chandraghona, Chittagong in 1951 by the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation. KPM was the first paper manufacturing industrial establishment registered under the factories act. At the time of its establishment, it was said to be the biggest paper mill in Asia with its three thousand workers. It was established under a World Bank loan supported by a consortium of suppliers from USA, England, Germany, Sweden and Italy. The mills went into production in 1953 with an installed capacity of 30,000 tons of paper per year. The capacity utilisation, however, went down within a few years of its establishment. In 1964, KPM was sold out to the Dawood Group of Pakistan, which undertook a balancing, modernisation and rationalisation (BMR) programme.
