I think the whole concept of the film isn't really meant to be focused on the drugs or the sex etc but if we're talking in terms of discovery I think it's about teens discovering who they truly are, and what they're truly like. People don't really get the film and it bugs me a little sometimes but there are a lot of great metaphors in the film. For instance, the whole film is a metaphor if you think about it. There isn't much of a story because teens don't have much of a story to them yet. Their lives have just begun. Like the ending.. Teddy and Fred go their separate ways and as a metaphor it shows that we all go down different paths in life to discover who we are. Teddy discovered that Fred was a bad influence and as he gradually discovered that he was actually good at heart during the film, he didn't want to go down the same path as Fred. Fred also discovers himself at the end because we see a sensitive side we've never seen from Fred. He puts on this asshole persona to then discover that he's using it to disguise his emotional pain. April thinks that she and Mr. B could be something serious until she discovers that she loves Teddy. And she discovers that Teddy is much better for her. I can't really think of much more right now but I hope I at least helped a little. If you want anymore advice don't hesitate to message me with any questions, I'd be happy to do my best to help!Â
Walking out of the Sydney Festival premier of ‘Palo Alto’, I felt changed, sentimental and like I wasn’t alone in my feelings of aimlessness and confusion (also really felt the need to smoke a ciggie lol). On the train home I listened to deep shit and thought about my life, making parallels...
