Well. He said it. She asked and he delivered. Couldn’t complain with how effective it was. 

Actually, it came so fast that Yuffie could hardly believe the situation was real. It was a scene pulled straight from her teenage dreams nearly half a decade ago, back when they’d hardly known each other and the only thing her mind could think of was, “He really fits that whole ‘tall, dark, and handsome’ vibe all the magazines talk about.” Sure there was the whole brooding and atonement vibe, but she thought she could get over it if he could get over it.

Only a few years later and now she’s the topic of brooding and atonement; and after all the hassle she’s put Vincent through, all the lectures on how he needs to move on and find the right type of supportive woman…

There’s no way in the Goddess’ inferno that she’ll ever put him in the same position that woman had.

She can’t promise eternal life, doesn’t necessarily have the nice body with feminine wiles she probably had, can’t even say she has a sultry voice. But Yuffie can promise, has already promised, fierce dedication and love. That’s more than what Vincent’s ever seen, she’s sure.

And she’s determined to prove herself even more impressive, to pluck a scene straight from his own imagination.

「 This is real…? 」It’s a question and a statement. She’s unsure, but she’s seeking evidence.

And she thinks she’ll find it in a heated kiss, as she finally leans in, to try again.

♰ ┄ She commanded, and he did. That was how he worked all of his life, and it was how he was going to work from here on out. At least these ‘orders’ were something with a bit more love behind them, however.

He felt his crimson eyes watch her softly as he remained there, watching for any sudden change in her facial expressions. Least thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable, so he decided to watch out for that. His own expressions were somewhat bland compared to hers, with his own housing the default mask that he always wore.

Romantic feelings were defiantly a sour topic for Vincent, but he pushed those negative feelings aside right now, because he wanted Yuffie in that way, and he knew for sure that she was nothing like her. So, his heart felt like it was time to move on, and despite the hardships of doing so, he will have Yuffie here for support, and vice versa.

He didn’t care for what most people cared for. He didn’t care about the type of body, the sound of their voice or how ‘feminine’ they are. As long as they were to give him the love and dedication that he needed, then that was more than enough for him. True beauty lies within the heart, after all!

 ❝It is.❞ He said as he nodded before the other was to witness a smile grow upon his lips. It may be a small one, but it certainly was a rare sight. ❝As real as it will ever be.❞

The heated kiss was to be continued, hopefully it would be better than the first time it happened. He witnessed her move closer, causing him to do the same until their lips connected, giving her a kiss full of passion. He wanted her, and he wanted her now.

Her glare at him is fierce: even if he thinks he can escape through strands of hair cascading over both of his cheeks and inhibiting his vision, he can’t. Yuffie will not let him. He needs to stay present, stay focused, not on the hypothetical or the what-ifs, but what they can do to persevere. Is he truly so desperate for freedom that he would admit to a mercenary’s lie? Vincent has always been so great at loyalty, regardless of how many times he’s been betrayed. And she, who quite literally and figuratively reigns over deception, knows better than to ever allow him to fall for such a plot.

She knows he is struggling to hang on, that he has nearly succumbed to what remains of his turmoil, of the pain that has lingered from opportunities snatched away. And she has stolen one at this moment, even if it was but a false one. The gunslinger’s body may be strong, perhaps even eternal, but his mind is far from, and it shows in his nerves, the trembling of his skin, the quivering of his eyes. 

The main threat is away, she feels, but Yuffie knows not to doubt his gauntlet: he’s ripped open bodies of plenty fiends with it, seen enough blood and innards cling to it, has even helped to scrub the metal clean. She’s always been there to help him find renewal, invigoration– can’t he see that? Why would this be any different? 

Even when he falters, she’ll still be there.

「 When have I ever lied to you? 」

Even if her strength is limited, she has used it in his favor.

He is leaning, he is falling…

She has captured her own Turk, with slender arms wrapping around his frame.

「 Don’t doubt me. 」

♰ ┄ That voice. That was the voice that was going to save him out of this bottomless pit.

Her glare was one he hadn’t seen from her, and yet it was piercing his crimson orbs as they slowly moved until they were fixed upon that glare. His own were full of regret, pain and loss. He was lost, and he just needed to be found again. He needed to feel free and wanted again. Was that too much to ask? Was it a sin to want to be loved? He may not show such emotions, but it was something he longed for. As loyal as he may be, he just couldn’t quite find a way to get over this emotional hurdle; and slowly started to disobey orders.

Opportunities that are before him seem to slip away easily, even if it is too good to be true. Perhaps this was his fate for the rest of his life. Perhaps living a life of brooding over sins was all that was to remain for the caged man. His body continued to shiver as he remained in the same position, weakness running through his enhanced body. Small beads of sweat seeped through his skin as the weakness found itself winning the battle, taking one step further to eventually win the war within him… Not yet.

She had witnessed the monster within him - what he truly was - and yet, he was still within her company. Whenever he felt himself going under, she was there to pull him back up. She had watched as he tore apart his victims with the golden limb that was worn upon him. It was there for a purpose, and he had used it for that on many occasions. Many times during his journey, Vincent found himself constantly battling with himself.

And yet, she was always there.

❝...❞ He remained silent as he heard her question. He had no answer other than the truth. It was a heavy question for someone who nearly threw away that bond. ❝... Never.❞

He then found himself becoming defeated by the woman, her small frame wrapping around his own and embracing him. His head finally fell upon her shoulder and his body loosened from it’s tension, yet still shaking within her grasp.

❝I-I…. I apologise Yuffie… Please forgive me…❞ He silently whispered as he begged for her forgiveness, something he didn’t do very often.
