Miquella the kind spoke of the beginning. The seduction and the betrayal. An affair from which Gold arose And so too was Shadow born. What followed was a war unseen One that could never be put to song A purge without Grace or honour The tyranny of Messmer's flame And so Kindly Miquella would abandon everything. His golden flesh, his blinding strength. Even his fate. But we are not deterred. We choose to follow. Will you walk with us? - E L D E N R I N G Shadow of the Erdtree (06.21.2024) -

Mmm. Mohg is using the blood of Tarnished- people who've been stripped of the grace of gold- for Miquella.
Who was trying to divest himself of being Golden in order to get to the Land of Shadow in the first place.
…I'm sure it's not gonna be relevant at all to the DLC. /s

Super late, but kinks! Kink Rating!
... Breeding.
KINK RATING TIME!!
Send me a kink and I’ll rate it!
No | rather not | I dunno | I guess | Sure | Yes | FUCK yes | Oh god you don’t even know |
Miquella absolutely has a breeding kink. Unsurprising given his association with life and his implications and imagery being very akin to Innana, Isis, and Persephone.
#nsfw headcanon#no problem- I'm trying to keep my cool and distract myself with other things lol#otherwise i'll go nuts from the speculation wrt the DLC because I know I'm mentally going in circles with it#ask meme

There's a lot of weird background shit going on in Elden Ring with the parallels between the Haligtree stuff and Mohgwyn and it intrigues me because of how constant the overlaps are.
Especially considering the writers at the helm and how both of them structure their other stories. Martin, for example, structures all his shit like mysteries, even if people don't associate his work with being in that genre. Miyazaki writes his stuff to be pieced together like a puzzle, which is also very much how certain mysteries are structured.

Varre also, interestingly, never lies to the player outright and provides genuinely useful direction to a new player. The closest he comes to lying is by omission, and this could easily be a security protocol thing akin to the Haligtree's security...
His Luminary follows the Mother of Truth and blood magic is associated with honesty, while the Fingers and Golden Order are associated with deception. (The assassin spells are a Two Fingers thing, for example.)
While chatting I came in conclusion that Varre is either sly, slimy and cunning or if peer deep enough - somewhat... kind even...? Will curse you to ditch if betrayed. Still, he wants YOU, little lambkin, to say f the fingers and join Lord Mohg's secret club. Blood, jelly, flames... we got it all.
#ooc#I also think it might be relevant to Shadow considering the implications of what it's possibly about- uncovering deeply hidden secrets#sleep is also associated with honesty in the cut content in a more 'in vino veritas' kind of way

"King Morgott is not some especial nastiness, and more a tragic sort for reasons it is not my place to speak of, though. The worst deeds of the Shattering were done in cover of night, betrayals and secrets their form, and he had nothing to do with them."
Was he talking about Queen Marika? Godwyn's murder? Ranni? Himself? Well, perhaps all, and perhaps something else, though Zorayas would not know that.
"...It is... complicated to say what would happen to either of you and I'm uncertain of certain aspects."
It upset her. It read on her expression. The furrow between her brow bridge. Despite being separated from the Erdtree for her lord's manifest and sacrifice, a thought of loss dug deep. Margit, as he put it, was in great danger for his position. He was in great danger for her as well, should something happen.
" ...I don't think I am either. I am... something that would never be born from the grace." She looked at her hands, recalling the temple... the great hide of the Serpent. The Erdtree and it's cycle - what would happen to her? She had no idea.
" ...I understand what you mean... I have known him for a very short time. As well as you.. yet, I deeply wish to do something. I had many friends I never saw again. The path of that horrible king... leads only in misery."

One of the carvings in Elphael features a bunch of bodies doing something similar in the background of the mystery guy with a spear (the latter can also be found in other places in Elphael).

mohg's spear is decorated with figures who appear to be having an orgy of sorts .

Miquella ran his hand against his face, thinking of how to put it.
"The Tarnished are being sent to kill the demigods and those who serve them, even if some instead choose other paths. Margit serves King Morgott. Omens are not touched by grace, so when they die, they remain dead. It is part of the way the Golden Order was structured when Queen Marika made it."
He sighed and still watched the tree. So many thoughts of what had happened to these lands. And others. Those who were outside the Erdtree, who were in its shadow, left to rot away as nothing, unmentioned and unmourned.
He did not know if Morgott being a demigod would counteract that.
"It is why I say there are time constraints. The more time passes, the more chances people have to kill him. No matter how strong anyone is, it takes just one unlucky day to be felled in battle."
" At least, there was someone..." It would have been far more awful to think there was no one in any moment of his life. The answer soothed her enough, and she merely nodded. Grasping hem of her dress, she felt a slight clutch within her chest. Time constraints?
" Time constraints...? I don't understand. You cannot mean he is running out of time, since, I don't think he runs out of time. He seems to be controlled, fooled to play for the Order... Purely used... I simply won't allow mere time to stop I." She shook her head. Keeping her focus on that positive attitude of hers.
" It will be difficult. But it took only few days, I finally saw him smile on that cold face. A little change, I know."
She sighed.
"For me, I needed someone to refuse my wish. Each time I saw them and asked. Only then, I found a new path. Make a life of my own. Brave Tarnished helped I, I wish to help, as well."

"He... had someone, before. It is not my place to say what happened."
Mohg looked so much more inhuman than Morgott. He could not have afforded the luxury of hoping the Golden Order would accept him if he was 'good,' Miquella privately speculated.
"It does take time to heal, and there are others who are seeking healing, but I fear there are time constraints, Zorayas."
"And horns growing at the end of his tail," Miquella noted.
"It's... complicated. Sometimes, people will take in the idea that they are lesser if they are treated that way and have no escape. That they deserve what happened to them. It eases the pain that would otherwise come, knowing they were hurt for no reason."
Miquella looked toward the tree. His expression was distant. His thoughts turned to Mohg- the anger at Morgott for whatever happened between them, and desperate need to have him back because he loved Morgott, despite everything.
"I... will admit, though, that gives me hope, that he knows and did not spurn you for it. I don't want to write him off as a lost cause, even if others fear that."

"You do?" She sounded surprised. "The one in a rags, the one with horns like a half of a crown on his head, the silver pale silky hair, and the fluffiest of tails?" Rya listed the features in sincere way. Those features, she found uniquely beautiful.
" Oh, he must be! Imagine, he despises his very being... that a mere being is an insult to the Erdtree. It makes no sense to look up to something that shuns the different so... " There was a hint of sadness. Rya was raised to stand against the tree, and the Order. It never held a meaning to her, nothing to respect. So, she couldn't understand Margit, and his devotion, despite doomed to wander in its shadow.
To Trina's question, Rya nodded, recalling concerns she had had, considering how much he seemed admire that tree. And she, along with her family, its greatest enemies.
" Yes, I couldn't lie to him, he seemed to sense I wasn't entirely truthful, anyway. Besides, I hoped he would feel better, sharing that sense of isolation. He is so difficult to read at times, but, he wasn't cruel, or chased me away. We proceeded the journey, and after a while, I made him my champion."

"Ah. Indeed, many avoid sleep. For Omens, it is because they are plagued with nightmares. Humans, for other reasons."
But Miquella gave a gentle start at the name, eyebrows raised.
"I... do not disbelieve you. I'm familiar with who he is. He has taken in the view that Omens are monsters because that is how Omens are treated, himself included. He is trapped in certain things, which he must break away from."
Perhaps there was hope yet, that Morgott could be saved from the path he walked to his doom. If he could protect someone while knowing they weren't what the Order held high...
"I must ask, though. Does he know that you are not human?"
" Maybe it is the stories. Liurnia is like a dream... A sense of belonging. Maybe, the stories I heard as a child stuck with me. Or, I connect with our lord." The stars were like no other. The silence of the still waters. The ruins and sinking cities. Like time had stopped, somewhere...
She took the lily from her makeshift pillow, holding it up. " Worry not, I have only found one every now and then. Sadly, already almost withered once I find them. Besides There is someone who would need them more than I... poor soul barely rests" She hid her smile behind the droopy bloom. How many times her champion had claimed to need no sleep. Rather, heading out.
And Trina's kindness towards her and others, never disappointed her.
"That is what I have tried to tell him! But he wouldn't listen..." She held the lily down, rotating it between her fingers, her gaze se down at it's delicate form. " He thinks so little of himself... the ways unimaginable he must have been treated. His name is Margit, and while he claims to be the Fell... Deep down he is gentle, and in great pain."

Radagon is also referred to as King Consort in Miriel's dialogue.
The fact that the husbands of Queens are named Lords and not Kings is quite important in this game, because it post likely mean king is not an Erdtree era. There are actually only two known kings, Morgott "Last of all kings" and Ensha. And they are both wearing rags of a distinctive yellow color.
Maybe Morgott has more things going on than we thought.
#ooc#though the thing that intrigues me is how only Elden Lord is used as masculine neuter in relation to the player#while every other title and character stuff follows the typical gendered conventions of medieval titling
