so here y’go! Some of these are from folk tales, some are a mishmash of stories that I’d heard growing up so I combined ‘em and laid names on ‘em, some are a hybrid of folk tales and the creations of rural pulp writer Manly Wade Wellman, who wrote horror yarns from the twenties through the eighties, some are native myths from the region that still hold sway with the locals. This is the kind of stuff I’ve got in my backyard out here in Kentucky.

so there’s this guy in three of my dance classes

and first off, I’m 5'7, 5'11 in dance shoes, 170 pounds, broad shoulders and big hips and not small in any dimension. For a ballroom dancer, this means a lot of time spent learning the men’s parts. Especially in lifts.

I’ve had years now of guys kinda just going “lol heck naw” when told to lift me. I don’t admit this part much, but it makes me want to sink into the ground and die when every other girl can be lifted, but I’m just too big.

So this guy, smaller than me and really cute, shows up at auditions and I see this girl across the room getting tossed about like the beautiful pixie she is, and apparently I looked a little wistful because this boy asked me if I liked lifts.

“Oh. I… Uh… I’ve never really done the girls part. I’m a little big, haha…” (laugh it off, as usual.)

He looked me dead in the eye and then picked me up like a movie princess, bounced me in the air a few times, and set me down effortlessly while telling me whoever refused to lift me before was just being a lazy wimp.

I seriously doubt this boy will ever really get how much that meant to me. But, holy cow. Some faith in humanity just got restored.

If you keep getting trapped at your desk by chatty coworkers, your browser can help you out. Google Chrome’s extension ‘NOPE | Can’t Right Now’ adds a button to your browser that immediately calls you when you click it. Me and 5 of my friends were playing a small game and I was the DM. One of my players was a playing as a paladin but kept rolling only 1s and 2s. He was so upset than in game his character fell to his knees and shouted to his god- “Why!! Why have you forsaken me!!!” And his dad shouted from the other room “Because you didn’t take out the trash you ass hat!!” We all started laughing and decidedthat we were gonna take that as truth so the rest of the game our paladin was trying to make up for all the past stuff he didn’t do!
