WOW that's close! I'll be leaving Jeremy King in the bracket.

I've gotten two messages now that Jeremy King from Our Life: Beginnings and Always is datable in XOXO Droplets. While "characters who are a romance option in another game" wound up not being a disqualifier in the official rules, I'm pretty sure Jeremy King is the only character in the bracket where this is the case.

I would probably swap in Deacon from Fallout 4, who was not submitted but I like quite a lot.

Additionally, I've fixed a few minor typos and errors in the bracket, and will be updating shortly. Thank you to everyone who's caught my mistakes!

As the submitter of Jeremy King, I'd like to qualify that I specifically want the version of Jeremy that has the history with the olba mc. I put in while submitting him my reasoning but basically I know he's datable in another game but that game has a completely different MC. I don't want that MC to be able to date Jeremy. I want the olba MC to be able to have an enemies to lovers relationship with Jeremy.

That makes sense to me! I just wanted to put it up for a vote since multiple people had contacted me about it.

Just fyi as the person who submitted Jeremy King specifically Our Life version, he's in Our Life: Beginnings & Always and it looks like you have him listed in the sequel (Forever & Always) which I'm not sure he'll show up in.

Hey! I don't know if you've played Our Life but just want to let you know while you're collecting images, Terry is trans and you'll want to use the image from his Step 4 appearance. Hope this doesn't come off as rude. I just know it's hard to research every single character in all these games so I wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up! I remember reading about him on the wiki and can definitely use his Step 4 appearance.

Just out of curiosity, are you a fic writer on Ao3? The marriage in nine days kinda caught me off guard a little bit, sorta.

a quick update

thank you all for being patient with me! The bracket is now seeded and I'm working on graphics. Due to scheduling (I'm getting married in 9 days??) I will be postponing the bracket a bit.

I've divided up the bracket into four groups of 32 (sixteen matches each) to avoid having to manage 64 polls simultaneously. Round one will last for one week for each group.

Group A will go live on Tuesday, September 5th.

I'm thinking about staggering the posts, instead of having them all go up at the same time. Maybe one every half an hour?

Thank you all for the information about Inari! I've decided to remove them from the bracket. I've replaced them with Ondolemar from Skyrim, who was initially removed only due to the sheer quantity of Skyrim characters.

Sorry if you've already answered this. But why is Jaehee from Mystic Messenger part of this tournament when she has a whole route?

Maybe this is a difference in interpretation since I'm aro/ace myself but like, you definitely end up life partners with her in the end.

Jaehee qualified due to not having any romance in her route.

I married Inari in trio of towns

Inari was a character that seemed to have a romance that qualified as not being a "full" romance route, similar to Krobus in Stardew Valley. I was going off of the submitter's propaganda and a surface-level wiki dive, so I'll attempt to do more research to confirm.

I'm curious, did some of the monster prom series submissions have reasons for why they should count? Because I know Sadie, Moss Mann, and Jerry all have secret endings in camp where you end up at the meteor shower with them. I don't remember clearly the endings for the other two but I do distinctly recall going on a date with Moss Mann and him killing me lol. I also know for certain he's a datable hitchhiker in Roadtrip, it's just random whether you can pick him up or not.

Ahh, I see! I struggled to find detailed information on each of them to be honest. I've only played the original Monster Prom and none of the sequels. I'll flag them as a note to do more research on.

We received a total of 263 submissions! Of these, 131 are unique and eligible characters for the bracket. When it comes to media I wasn't as familiar with, I did my best to research whether or not characters would qualify and erred on the side of caution. I'll be posting a list of accepted characters shortly.

The most submitted character was Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5, with eight submissions! Brynjolf, Linus, Goro Akechi, Varric Tethras, and Monika were close behind with seven submissions each.

The media with the most submissions total was Stardew Valley, with 36 submissions! Skyrim was in second with 23 submissions, and Persona 5 in third with 20 submissions.

The character with the longest submitted propaganda is the Gatekeeper from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It's 551 words long. Jesus christ.
