“no, no, it’s not weird at all,” aliana assured, smiling genuinely this time. “well,” she cleared her throat before pulling the chair beside her, so that the guy can sit, “this place relaxes me. the outside world can be really toxic. i want to get away sometimes. and... yeah, this place can be considered my haven, next to the gallery. i’m aliana, by the way. but, you can call me liana. or lian. whatever floats your boat,” she finished, extending a hand for the other.

“Sure. Coffee sounds good.” Zane replies, moving to his feet. Offering Laina his hand to help her up, he smiles, nodding slowly. “I’m always up for coffee.” 

“How do you like your coffee done?” she asked, “I think most people are into coffee, right? I mean, it definitely helps a lot of people continue with their day; but to be very honest, I’m a bit... tired, and sleepy. damn.”

“now, you are asking the real questions.” liana said with a giggle. “since 2018 is actually nearing, we should definitely find out what keeps us going. maybe there’s someone you like?”

liana laughed at how outgoing the other is. spending holidays with people other than the relatives is actually a good thing. “hmm, i honestly want to try some flaming shots. you game?”

KJ sighed in sync with the other, groaning in response and following it through with a small nod of his head. “you’ve got to have like, ten pots of coffee and twenty-four hours to properly wake up.” okay, maybe he was being dramatic; but it sure did feel like that was the case. “sleepy is my permanent state, honestly.”

aliana laughed at the other’s words. “in my case, though, i feel like i need to dream about drinking coffee in order to be fully awake after,” she explained, “i mean, it has to start there, you know?” the lady patted the other’s head, messing his hair a bit. “i feel you, hun. unfortunately, we have no choice. unless, we run away or somethin’?”

“Probably a lot, if I have to de-shrink your Grinchy heart,” Vic responded with an eye roll. “I would offer to drink you under the table but I’m tired of the empty calories in eggnog. So maybe you could come with me down to Winter Wonderland? Do some elfing and you’d love it and I’d be the hero of the day.” Since she liked the sound of it, she smiled brightly at Laina.

Aliana ignored the eye roll, as she’d already gotten used to the gesture. Winter Wonderland? Isn’t that for kids or somethin’?” she asked dead serious, or at least, trying to be serious. “okay, okay, that doesn’t sound too bad. but, how do you exactly do elfing? I’m bloody confused. do i need to prepare? wear matching underwear? get laid? i’m just kiddin’ about the last.”

“o-oh,” muttered liana, thinking of how weird she made herself to be. “yeah, i think you’re right. it’s nice weather. but the weather doesn’t think i’m nice. or more like my body.” aliana giggled, hearing the other’s words. “wait, so, you’re vegetarian?” she asked innocently. “you’re too nice. if you were my aunt, she’d tell me to shut the bloody hell up.”

“I only come when requested, so it’s second to the least I could do,” Aine replied as she sipped the glass of apple cider in her hand. The gallery’s ‘informal’ Christmas art show hadn’t been one she planned on attending, but she’d been asked, so. “It’s always air-conditioned in here, but if you wanted a coat, you could have the one I brought in,” Aine gestured to the coat room.

“It’s okay, Aine,” Aliana said as she chug on other can of beer. “This season is definitely my dead season. I can’t even find the right art to contribute lately; which leads me to, you’re really good with keeping up with your muse...”

“Maybe I’m the one who’s weird. Let’s not blame things,” she joked. “I’ll just get somethin’ cold to drink, yeah? Do you want some coffee or somethin’, too?”

Kirby’s face smiled widely as he was invited to spend Christmas with someone. Being alone on his favorite holiday would have depressed him so much. He brought the palm of his hand to his mouth slightly moving his fingers forwards towards her to sign thank you. “Is there anything I should bring as well?” His brows furrowed as he asked. Kirby was no chef but if he had to help he would have. He then spelled out the letters o and then a k to agree to help.

“Do you have any plans? Something that you want to cook?”  She signed, giggling. “I’ll also buy some wine for us.” Liana smiled warmly at the guy. It was definitely good to spend Christmas with someone. After a few years, she’d feel less alone. “Where’s ma and pa, anyway?”

liana was taken aback by the voice, making her jump a bit. “o-oh,” was all she could say after knowing whose voice it was. suddenly feeling her cheeks heat up, liana covered her face, dropped her gaze to the random sketches she’s been doing, then covered them with her hands instead. but then, after just a few milliseconds, she uncovered them only to reveal unfinished sketches in every page. “i don’t know. this season’s got my muse... hibernating. y-you’ve been watching me?”

i’m so sorry for disappearing. i had to work ( bc adulting is terrible, but i have to do it or else, i will live on the streets & i won’t be able to buy bOOKS!!! ) then i dozed off once i got home. T_T but anyway, i will reply to everyone i owe now. ^^,

“It isn’t a good coffee until your heart beats a little too hard and time feels kinda wobbly,” Vic answered before tilting her head to give Laina a commiserating look. “Maybe if you got a little good Christmas cheer, you’d find yourself creatively unblocked.” Since Vic didn’t consider herself all that creative of an individual, she wasn’t sure if that was true, like she was about the caffeine.

Coffee is basically Laina’s water; after all, she always feels compelled to finish artworks at a deadline. Not that she minds, of course. She loves what she’s doing. “a little good Christmas cheer? Okay, Vic, how do you exactly plan on doing that? Will you give me the cheer that I so desperately need?”

“It’s, like…70 degrees outside, that’s not cold.” Zane says with a laugh, shaking his head a bit. “Nah, I’m not sleepy. I like holiday stuff. Why, are you tapping out?”

“It’s what?” Liana asked, surprised. “My weather application said that it’s 47! Wow, that’s mean.... I mean, the app, not you.” The woman nodded slowly followed by a yawn, “yeah, sort of. I think, I may be a grandma in my past life, then I accidentally carried it to this universe....”

“You just gotta let the spirit of Buddy the Elf flow through you endlessly,” Vic advised without missing a beat. “That or keeping caffeinated constantly with peppermint mocha is a good bet, too.”

“Buddy the Elf? I don’t think that’ll work. I feel like I’m the Grinch at this very moment,” Liana groaned, clearly a bit irritated for feeling... weird. “I can’t even work on proper art lately. I feel like... I effin’ suck.” Laina turned her head to the other’s direction, then sighed. “So, that’s how you get by, huh?”
