It’s done

The Underpuff Plot Summary is finished. This took multiple days and hours, but it’s done. I’m sorry for the long wait, but honestly, this was a really tedious task. But I thank you all for being patient and looking forward to it. (Well, the ones who probably even check this blog anymore at least.)

Um, I guess to continue the train of character roles, what about Monster Kid, Mad dummy, Muffet and burgerpants? (Also, did magalor have any sort of hobby parallel to Alphys’ love of Mew Mew and, even though it came after the cancellation, anything about the switch boss if you were to have it?)

There was no MK equivalent in UP given what I had planned

Muffet was Wham Bam Rock. I don’t think I remember too well what his idea was. But I think I had settled on that he enjoyed his solitary life down in the cave by himself until everyone came down and made life much more annoying for him. So he wants to kill you and take your soul so *HONK*

Magolor had no obsession with anything in the reboot...But preboot Magolor liked LARPing. It was dumb and let’s not talk about it.

Hey, thanks in advance for the upcoming summary of the story. It's nice to see at least where it would have gone. On minor character roles, who would have been Bratty and Catty, Gearson, and the Temmies?

Bratty and Catty were gonna be Pitch and Nago, and Gerson would be Coo. They actually have some backstory relevance so I’ll hold off on details for now.

Temmies were Batamon

The joke was gonna be that they were Non-Puffs that got left up on the surface by mistake and were just thrown into the caves. But they freaked everyone out so they just got sent to their own little sector in Old Tower. I wanted to have them have a sort of creepy, unsettling vibe to them in contrast to the goofiness of the Temmies.

Sorry that the Plot Summary is taking so long. Just like back when UP wasn’t dead, School and Work have me booked very often. And since I’ve been prioritizing my art development, especially since it’s Inktober, it’s taking a while to get this done.

Plus it’s really hard to sit down and write out the plot of something you don’t care about anymore. I think the fact it’s taking so long for me to finish this is a testament to how much my motivation is dead.

However, I feel guilty leaving you all waiting here with nothing. So, I’ve decided to publicly reveal the roles here. I won’t go into anything they do in the story, or what their deal was, just tell you who technically replaced who in the grand scheme of things. This’ll give you something to think about while you wait, and maybe let you make some predictions for when I finish the Summary. Without further ado.

Goodnight Underpuff

You all have no idea how much I wanted to avoid making this post. I’ve been wrestling with myself for months now over whether or not to do this, thinking it would be impulsive, or I gotta see this through to the end. But I think that was just fear talking, my fear of failing, and I think it’s about time for me to overcome that fear, and finally put Underpuff to rest.

I feel awful about this. So many people have shown me so much support, drawn me so much fanart, made me music, and have been nothing but nice to me...But I think that’s exactly why I need to do this. I don’t wanna drag on these peoples’ hopes any longer for a product that ultimately doesn’t have my heart in it anymore. My love for Undertale is dead at this point, and while my unwavering love for Kirby remains, it is no longer able to support a project that was balanced by two loves. I still like Undertale, don’t get me wrong, but it’s far from the sheer adoration I had for it two years ago, the love that helped me craft 7 parts pixel by pixel on a damn Wii U, the love that made me throw that progress away for a much needed reboot, the love that unfortunately is not there anymore.

Underpuff was important to me, and it certainly still will be many years down the road, I still love the story I had planned, the characters I wrote, the gags I had in store, but the spark is gone. It was gone somewhere around the making of Part 3, and I think my posting frequency on this account reflects that. I thought it would be the strong thing to just keep going and wait for that spark to return, but it hasn’t come back, and I don’t think it will. And the truly strong thing to do, the thing that requires more strength, more will, is to let it go. (Make a Frozen reference and I’ll kill you.)

This was my first major project, and while it may end on a failure, I have many more things I wish to do. Like improving my general art skills, sprite art, and focusing on learning programming and game design so I can make actual video games instead of simulating them through a comic format, and all not having that same comic I need to update looming over my head. I can go at my own pace, knowing the only person I need to please is myself.

I’m not happy having to make this decision, you all have no idea how much I wish I could finish this project. Even now while typing this I’m still wondering if I’m certain about this, but I have to be. I need to accept when I have failed, and move forward. I will post a general summary of the story I had planned in the coming days, so you all don’t sit wondering what could have been. So to everyone who ever supported me, whether it be through fanart, music, or even something as menial as liking a post or reblogging it, thank you so much. You all really have meant the world to me, and have been a great (And patient) audience. If you all really wish to see my other work in the future, please visit my general blog here. I’ll post art and other stuff as I see fit, but as far as this blog is concerned, it’s been a good run, thank you all for everything.

I’ve been drawing Adeleine alot, but she just fun to draw, plus this helps me practice drawing humans better

As said in the FAQ, Popstar natives are the primary bulk of the cast. And given what we know about the Jambandrans, they really have no need or desire to show up in Underpuff’s story.

what are recovery and sinergy? I wasn't able to find any undertale or Kirby spinoff stats that could help me know what those stats are

Recovery determines how much health you recover from eating food

Synergy on the other hand, you’ll have to wait and see :)

We join our resident yellow beachball once more as they attempt to make their way through a dark underground cavern. What new experiences await them down here? And more importantly, will they find a way out to reunite with the Brush Brat Adeleine? Only way to find out is to get our hands dirty, in the two sections of part of Part 4!

Looks sweet, really hoping for Bandanna Dee. But even more than him I want Chibi-Robo. It was a childhood game of mine, and with the series basically on its last legs I feel him showing up in smash would be just the right push to get the series in a good direction again. All in all, hyped for the game, hope Sakurai gives some more modern Kirby love this time around.
