Speculation on Oswald building Mickey’s house

There has been a lot of speculation on why Oswald built a house for Mickey even though he hated him. A lot of people subscribe to “He’s his little bro, man” but I have a different theory:

We’re talking about a guy who let Peg Leg Pete, one of his oldest enemies, roam free and act as sheriff. I guy who made sure even the villains felt welcomed and had somewhere to live. A guy who gets mad if Mickey uses Thinner to deal with the blotlings that break into Mean Street.

To him, a scrapped toon was a scrapped toon, and it was his responsibility to make sure they were cared for, even if he didn’t like them (and he and Pete clearly still do not get along, at all)

Oswald may not have liked Mickey, but he wouldn’t let him go homeless.

Mickey’s success grew over time. Oswald initially didn’t care much, and figured it wouldn’t be long before Mickey’s fame decreased. Maybe he built the house because he thought Mickey would be in Wasteland soon, and they’d both be in the same lot. Then time passed. Mickey never fell. But his merchandise did.  A lot of it. Every year. But never Mickey himself.

I’m pretty happy for how this one came out. I thought of the 10th anniversary of epic mickey for Japan since it was released their in 2011.

These two disney characters have been with me since 2013, and I still love the game to this day. The gameplay of it was outstanding. The brothers are the best duo out there. They’ll never be separated.
