have you given up on writing The Half-Life of Element Zero?

Not intentionally, and lord knows I keep trying to pick it up again. But among the many things COVID has taken is both the space and the privacy to write. My entire family now works and/or schools from home, and has been for over two years. I used to have large swaths of uninterrupted time, which allowed the characters to work out their dialogue in my head. Now, I’m lucky if I get 10 minutes without being interrupted, including this response. I started answering you at 8:00 a.m. and it is now nearly 10:00 a.m.

It has not been conducive for introverted creative pursuits, such as writing or drawing (another hobby which has fallen by the wayside.)

My original post was made the day after the 2016 election. Here we are, almost four years later. Ruth Bader Ginsberg just died. There is just enough time for Trump and McConnell to shove another conservative down our collective throats before the election.

If they succeed, and Biden loses, every woman in America can kiss her reproductive freedoms goodbye. Every POC will become a target for Trump’s white nationalist thugs and minions. Millions more will die from COVID-19. Trump is already talking about nationalizing our education system to promote his incandescently Caucasian version of America, and you better believe no more confederate statutes will come down.

TikTok teens messed with Trump’s Tulsa rally, so he’s banned TikTok. Do you really think he’ll calm down if he gets another four years of power?

I don’t want to hear, “Biden is too corporate/too old/won’t support Medicare 4 all” or whatever other excuse you tell yourself to justify staying home. Trump and the GOP is doing everything in his power right now to steal the election, and the only way to beat him is by voting in numbers too large to manipulate.

Get fucking registered to vote (info at vote.org) and get. Your ass. To the polls.
