One night, when this girl was really young, she was woken up - or at least, startled - by the sounds of her mother. Sounds of pain, coming from either the master bedroom, the living room area, or the kitchen. Concerned for her mother, she slipped out of bed to go and see what was going on, even if she got the slightest sense that something was wrong. As she'd search the house, she'd end up inevitably finding both her mom and her dad, having a very... heated physical exchange. A lot of her father slamming his body into hers, and twisting her around in all sorts of ways, while her mother took every bit of it. The shoves, the slaps, everything. And their daughter... she saw every bit of it. At first, she didn't know what was going on. She thought about stepping in right then and there, to break up what was going on... which she probably would've, had she not been paralyzed with fear over her father's retribution. She didn't understand that her parents were having sex. But it left a mark on her, all the same.

How that mark manifests itself? There are a lot of possibilities. Maybe there's a big change in the family dynamic; maybe her father knew she was watching, and decides to target her. Maybe she internalizes what she saw and it warps her perception on certain things as she continues to grow. Maybe she ends up going to therapy, and that turns into a whole ordeal on its own.

And so, they pack up their bags and leave- no plan, no intention of coming back, just two teens trying to survive. Maybe they go to the big city, maybe they end up in the scary woods, maybe the police find them and they end up being brought back home. Who knows!
