As a prospective high school senior, I applied and got into Alabama. I want to visit and experience the school for a weekend so I'm going to the Alabama vs. LSU game and I'm not sure what to wear. Any suggestions or what students are wearing for that game would be super appreciated! Roll Tide :)
Anything goes, really, but a lot of the students like to dress up a little bit for games. Cute dresses and cowboy boots for ladies, button-up shirts for guys. As long as it’s crimson and white, you’ll fit right in. Make sure you’re aware of the clear-bag policy (rolltide.com/allclear), and have a fantastic time!!

I'm really interested in staying in Burke or parham (preferably a suite if I can snag one). Do you know any pros/cons of these dorms?
I only lived in the Ridgecrest community, so I can’t speak personally about those halls. But here are a few things to consider:
Parham is women-only, while Burke is co-ed by floor
both are located near the south end of campus - so if you’re, for instance, an engineering major, you’ll be pretty far from a lot of your classes
both are open for winter and spring breaks unlike a lot of the other halls; this is helpful if you’re coming from far away & want to spend your break(s) in Tuscaloosa
I hope this info helps you make a decision! If you have further questions please send them my way. :)

How can i connect a printer to the wifi in my dorm??
You’re going to want to hard-wire it. There should be a cable that came with your printer that plugs into a USB drive. Any time someone tries to use a wireless printer, it tends to knock out wifi for the whole building, so...

Hey this might seem odd but I was wondering, what are the best places near Tuscaloosa (less than an hour drive away) to go streaking at night without getting caught?
Do not do this, friend.

I'd like to apply to UAlabama Honors, and Computer-Based Honors. I did finish the basic application with the application fee yesterday, but I did not get any logins or "CWID" to use to access the honors application. Am I missing something here?
(I’m so sorry if I’m answering this late - tumblr sometimes forgets to tell me I have messages!!)
Shortly after you finish the application, you should receive your CWID and instructions for logging into myBama. This could take a couple of days, but if it’s longer than a week I’d give admissions a call and ask about it!

Hi! I cant find an answer on the website at all so I was wondering if you knew if students have to pay for group classes at the rec center? I know we dont have to pay for membership but are the classes included?
It looks like group exercise classes are free for students, but I'd call/stop by the rec and make sure!

PACKING MASTERPOST!
Hello, Bama students! It’s getting to be that time when you’ll start boxing up all your worldly possessions to haul them to Tuscaloosa. But here’s a pro tip: do not bring all your worldly possessions. There’s no room.
“So what should I bring, Emily?” The answer to that question is going to vary widely from person to person. But I have for you today MY packing list from last year, slightly revised with the new knowledge and experience I’ve gained. It’s categorized, and I’ve annotated it with explanations of anything that might seem goofy. Note that this list is tailored toward a person living in the suite-style dorms. Use this as a template to put together your own list, keeping in mind the type of room you’ll be in and the things that are most important to you.

Getting to be that time again... My personal is now @burr-youdisgustme btw.
Are you registered to vote?
This isn’t really UA-related, but if you’re starting college you’re also old enough to vote, and that’s really important to me. So if you’re not registered, please tell me and I’ll help you get it done. I don’t care where you live or what your party affiliation is. I just want you to be able to vote.
If you want to register in Alabama, you can do so (using your dorm or apartment address). Or if you want to register in your home state/county, I can talk with you about absentee voting. (I’m still registered in Shelby County, so I usually vote absentee.)
Send me a message (preferably off anon) either here or on my personal blog intothequantumfoam, and we’ll figure out what you need to do. And then once you know how, help your friends register!

Things I’ve Seen During Finals
Someone calling in sick to work in order to sleep for their hour long shift.
Someone breakdancing to a boombox blasting Christmas music on the quad.
Someone crying because they got a free sandwich.
Someone walking into the lounge at 1 am with a huge stack of books, and the determination of someone who forgot a term paper.
Someone putting off writing their thesis because someone else needed math help and “logarithms are fun!”
Someone taking a lighter to a notebook as soon as they left the science building.
More than one flask being carried to class.
Someone literally giggle evilly when given a 6-pack of beer.
A freshman taking gen eds complaining about everyone else complaining about how hard finals are. (Note: the freshman may or may not have ever been seen again.)
Someone crossing campus at a run in slippers.
A nursing major explaining that finals are actually natural selection, and that she is the strongest and most adaptable and she was going to survive, while talking to herself.
A different nursing major looking very forlorn because she just ran out of wine.
Someone sleeping on a bench in the music building, with actual pillows and blankets and everything.
Sticky notes with swearwords written on them littered around the science building.
A group of students trying to one-up each other about how badly their juries had just gone.
Someone leaving for the library at 3 am, because there was free coffee there.
Someone flipping off the professor after being wished good luck on the final.
The same person realizing that they have an entire lifetime of that class ahead of them, because it’s their major.
Someone being questioned about how they wanted their funeral to look, after talking about the 8000 words they had due.
Just, so many people sprawled on floors because it’s easier to do that than anything else. So many.
The most genuine gratitude I’ve had directed at me possibly ever, because I gave someone a peanut butter cookie.
Finals: we’re all tired, hungry, and a little unhinged. It’s okay.
