i saw a production of next to normal today for the first time and y’know was crying for the last 20 minutes or so and they turned the house lights on during the end of the finale song (bc… light) and i was like dear god no please leave me alone to cry in the dark

i’m listening to caroline or change instead of doing laundry (hilarious i know) and i just checked the tag hoping that a fandom had spawned since the revival but sadly not

me: in trousers is brilliantly composed with clever (although sometimes confusing) imagery and lyrics. its in depth analysis of Marvin and his struggles with his sexuality and internalized homophobia is almost Mind Blowingly well-developed and relatable to teenagers or young adults who struggle with their own sexual identities or hiding said identity. this musical is very complex and intelligent and i applaud it and adore it for its pure brilliance, and its amazing use of lyrics to address Marvin’s complex internal struggles
in trousers: scrubby dubby dubby everyone can see he’s a wet marvin boy scrubby dubby dubby dubby scrubby dubby dubby he’s a wet Marvin boy scrubby dubby I love bein a wet Marvin boy

amazing how this site can go apeshit over musicals every day but never remember Telephone Wire from Fun Home when Alison Bechdel shifts between “say something talk to him” and “say something talk to ME” and then just says anything in such a crushed voice
