Year 6: Your Song × Remembrall Me
(Jae and Chiara)
Author’s Note: This story is inspired by Chiara's dating quest (Your Song) and Jae’s dating sidequest (Remembrall Me).
This is a fanfiction based on Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. I do not own any of these characters or the Harry Potter universe. All rights belong to their respective (and disappointingly problematic) creator. However, this story and space are inclusive and celebrate all fans. Hope you enjoy it!
Part 1/4
The divination classroom smelled faintly of old parchment and rose petals. Chiara checked the items for the third time. The rose petals were arranged just right, the candles steady. Her books were stacked neatly, feathers ready, ink uncapped. It was perfect. At least, she hoped it was. She had something important to ask Jae, something that could change everything between them after weeks of secret dates. She took a deep breath, then spun around at the sound of the door creaking open.
Jae stepped in and froze. His eyes swept over the room and then landed on her.
Jae: “Whoa…”
Chiara stood near the table, tugging at the edge of her sleeve. “Hey. You made it.”
Jae: “I didn’t realize you were redecorating the place.”
Chiara: “I got permission from Professor Trelawney to use the classroom. I just wanted to make it nice.”
Jae: “For a date?”
Chiara: “For a study date.” she corrected. “I know it’s not really your thing, but we haven’t had much time to ourselves lately.”
Jae: “You’re not entirely wrong. It’s been a while since our last secret date. I’m not sure how much studying I’ll actually do, though.”
It was clear that he was more interested in being with her than any of the books in front of them.
Chiara: “Listen, there’s something I want to talk to you about…but we should probably finish our homework first.”
Jae: “We can always skip the studying part.”
Chiara: “Oh, I don’t think so, Jae. I invited you here to study, so that’s what we’re gonna do.”
Jae: “Okay, fine. I’ll try my best. But it’s going to be really hard when you’re right there.”
Chiara couldn’t help but laugh at his persistence. They managed to make it through the study session, though it was clear Jae was struggling. Chiara, though she tried to stay focused herself, couldn’t help but smile at his obvious attempts to get it over with.
Once they finished up, Chiara leaned back in her chair with a satisfied sigh escaping her lips.
Chiara: “Alright, I think we’re done.”
Jae closed his copy of Advanced Potion-Making with a satisfied snap and set it aside.
Jae: “Finally, thank Merlin. I think I passed out somewhere around chapter 12.”
She chuckled. But her laugh faded into something more uncertain. He straightened a little, sensing the shift.
Jae: “So, what did you want to tell me?”
Chiara: “Sorry, I’m just…a little nervous. I’ve been thinking about how I feel around you.”
For a second, Jae tensed. The way she looked at him made something twist in his chest. He thought maybe she was about to pull away from whatever had been growing between them.
Jae: “You’re kinda scaring me a little bit. What’s wrong?”
She glanced at Jae, trying to gather the words.
Chiara: “There's this secret concert. It’s gonna be a mix of Muggle-borns, werewolves, punks...all sorts of people. And the Weird Sisters are playing, and I thought...maybe you’d want to come with me?”
She hesitated, then added quickly, “I'd really like to share my first concert experience with you.”
Relief hit Jae like a wave. There wasn’t a beat of doubt in his answer.
Jae: “Yeah. Of course!”
Chiara: “Really?”
Jae: “Chiara, it’s a secret concert full of misfits and Ministry-haters. That’s basically my idea of a perfect day.”
Chiara couldn’t help but smile. She hadn’t expected him to actually be that eager to go to the concert.
Chiara: “Of course, we need to first find where the concert is even being held…Any ideas?”
He smirked, leaning in slightly as though he was about to drop a secret.
Jae: “Actually, I might know a few people who could help with that.”
Chiara: “Oh, let me guess. Knockturn Alley?”
Jae: “You know me too well. I’ve got a friend who’s...connected. But we might need to make a little trade.”
Chiara: “What kind of trade are we talking about?”
Jae: “Nothing too crazy. You just have to trust me.”
Chiara gave him a skeptical look but nodded.
Chiara: “Alright. What’s the plan?”
Jae stood up, offering her his hand.
Jae: “Follow me. There’s something we need to acquire first..from Filch’s office.”
The quiet Hufflepuff took his hand but remained seated in her chair. She didn’t sound entirely convinced.
Chiara: “And this is just about the concert?”
Jae: “There might be something else too. But all things in good time.”
Chiara: “You’re going to get caught.”
Jae: “Only if you let me go alone.”
Chiara: “You’re right; someone has to make sure you don’t get into too much trouble.”
She finally stood up and glanced around the table. With a simple flick of her wand, the books, candles, and the red roses vanished.
Chiara: “There. Now, we can go.”
Part 2/4
Jae and Chiara made their way through the castle to Filch's office. When they arrived, Jae quietly whispered Alohomora to unlock the door with his wand. Before they went inside, he handed Chiara a vial of Shrinking Solution he had brewed weeks ago. They each took a sip and almost immediately, the world around them seemed to grow larger. They were no bigger than mice.
The air inside the office smelled like cat fur and stale ink. Papers and forbidden trinkets cluttered every surface. Somewhere in this mess was an object they could use for the trade. Chiara couldn’t hide her nervousness. She’d never gotten used to the feeling of sneaking in. Jae noticed her uneasiness.
Jae: “Breathe, Moonbeam. We’re ghosts. No one’s catching us today.”
After searching through a few drawers, they found a shimmering brooch embedded with a strange rune.
Jae: “This looks nice.”
Chiara: “What is it?”
Jae: “I don’t know. But it looks rare.”
Chiara: “It’s probably worth more than a few secrets.”
Jae could imagine the brooch’s value; maybe enough for a new broom or for a week’s worth of sweets from Honeydukes. But that wasn’t what he cared about.
Jae: “Good, it means we’ll definitely get the location of the concert.”
He cast the Shrinking Charm, making the brooch small enough to carry. He gave it to Chiara who pinned it to her robes, looking grateful.
Chiara: “I can’t thank you enough for helping me with my dream.”
Jae: “Of course. Anything that matters to you, matters to me.”
Chiara: “But that’s not all, is it? What else are you looking for?”
Jae didn’t answer right away. Instead, he sat on top of a closed inkwell, avoiding her eyes.
Chiara stepped a little closer.
Chiara: “It must be something that means a lot to you, if it’s got you deflecting this way. I’m ready to listen if you want to talk.” she said, smiling.
Jae froze for a minute. He then caught her smile and the tension between them broke. They both let out soft laughs, a little relieved.
Jae: “You got me…I was having a little too much fun keeping you in the dark. But it’s time I tell you the whole story.”
Chiara: “Go ahead.”
Jae: “When I was younger, I always wanted a Remembrall, but my dad couldn’t afford one. So we made up our own game: we’d slip each other red and white sheets of paper whenever one of us forgot or remembered something.”
He kept talking, one memory leading into the next. They both started to laugh, the kind of laughter that comes when something just feels right. And as Chiara listened, she realized she wanted to know every piece of who he was.
Chiara: “I’m really glad you told me, Jae. It makes sense now, I see why you wanted to break into the office.”
Jae: “This was about your dream first. But now that we’re here, I do want to find the Remembrall too. You don’t have to stay, though. I can catch up with you later.”
She gave a small nod, then reached for his hand almost without thinking.
Chiara: “To be honest, I don’t enjoy breaking rules the way you and your partners in crime do. But just like you said: if it matters to you, it matters to me as well. So let’s find the Remembrall together.”
They continued their search and after some time, Chiara spotted a Remembrall. Jae used a Shrinking Charm to reduce its size until it fit in his hands.
The Remembrall was red, but neither of them noticed. They were standing closer than usual.
Jae: “I guess we both got what we came for. Thank you.”
Chiara: “You’re welcome. It feels like…we’re making each others’ dreams come true.” She said, a bit nervous.
Jae’s heart beat faster, and something in him ached. They’ve shared feelings, dreams and adventures but they haven’t crossed over into naming it yet. However, in this moment, it felt like they could be.
Jae: “My dad told me that happiness is about finding people who help you celebrate what you already have.”
Chiara: “That’s a very beautiful way to see things.”
Jae: “...I think I’ve found someone like that.”
And suddenly the air between them was different. This time, Jae gently took her hand. Chiara’s mind was racing. The closer they got, the harder it became to hide how flustered she was. And just as the space between them was about to disappear…
Filch: “Can’t get a moment’s peace anywhere, there’s always something afoot in this blasted castle.” He grumbled.
Chiara: “Cavolo!” she blurted out, completely panicked.
Filch stomped inside, muttering to himself and locking the door behind him.
Chiara’s eyes widened when she finally noticed the Remembrall. She instantly grabbed Jae’s arm and whispered the Disillusionment Charm. As a result, their bodies took on different colors, until they blended almost perfectly with their surroundings.
Chiara: “The remembrall, Jae. It was red.”
Jae: “Really? I probably forgot that some days Filch comes back from his rounds early.”
A corner of his mouth lifted, like he might laugh, but Chiara was absolutely not amused. So Jae’s smile faded, because his perfect moment with Chiara was ruined.
Jae: “Don’t worry, I’ll distract him. You take the Remembrall and get out of here. I’ll find you after.”
Chiara: “No way. Hide it in your pocket, take the brooch and go. We can meet later, when you and the Remembrall are safe.”
Before he could argue, she pressed the item into his hands.
Chiara distracted Filch just long enough for Jae to sneak out without being seen. She waited a moment, then quietly slipped away herself.
Part 3/4
Chiara hadn’t seen Jae for the rest of the day, not even at dinner even though she kept looking toward the Gryffindor table.
After the feast, when most people had left the Great Hall, she found herself walking through the quiet halls. Just around the corner, she finally spotted him. Jae’s eyes lit up when he saw her.
Jae: “Hey.”
Chiara: “You’re here. I kept wondering if everything went okay.”
Jae: “I already made the trade. I have the address now.”
She slightly moved her arms, as if she wanted to hug him, but then hesitated.
Chiara: “I’m really glad you didn’t get caught.”
Jae: “You handled things very well too. So, does that make you officially one of my partners in crime?” he asked ironically.
Chiara: “I’d rather leave the break-ins and prankings to the professionals, thank you.” She said, laughing.
Jae: “That’s fair. Charlie might get jealous anyway.”
Their laughter echoed softly down the corridor.
Chiara: “Thank you again for getting the address and for being the first person to go to a concert with me.”
Jae: “I’m happy I get to be that person. It feels special.”
Chiara: “It is. I think music saved me. It was always there for me, through all the rough times.”
And she began to confide in him. She talked about how she used to share her love of music with old friends, how she’d been introduced to punk music, and what it had meant to her through most of her life. She hadn’t meant to reveal so much, but with him, she felt safe.
Jae realized something: he wanted to hear her voice more often, to make her laugh, to not have to wait for secret dates anymore. He wanted to be with her, officially.
He gently brushed Chiara's cheek before quickly withdrawing.
Jae: “I’ll see you at the concert.”
Chiara’s breath caught at the unexpected touch. Her heart fluttered, and a smile spread across her lips.
Chiara: “Can’t wait.”
With one last look at each other, they turned and headed in opposite directions, each carrying a hopeful spark into the night.
Part 4/4
Near Knockturn Alley, Jae led Chiara down a narrow stairwell into a cellar pulsing with life. Inside, a crowd of witches, wizards, and a few Muggles swayed to the beat of The Weird Sisters. Graffiti-covered walls were illuminated by lanterns, casting moving shadows across the room.
Jae wore a Weird Sisters t-shirt and worn-in jeans, perfectly at ease. Chiara, in a graphic tee, plaid skirt, and combat boots, looked around with wide eyes: she was impressed, nervous, but mostly thrilled. This place was full of energy. It felt a world away from the quiet corners of Hogwarts. The music resonated in a rhythm that seemed to match the beat of Chiara’s heart.
Between songs, they found a quieter spot by the back wall.
Chiara: “I have something for you.”
She pulled a small, soft pouch from her pocket and handed it to him. Jae looked surprised. Inside the pouch, a silver bracelet with little musical notes.
Chiara: “For… for all the songs we haven’t heard together yet.”
Jae stared at it for a second, unusually quiet. Then he slipped it on, carefully.
Jae: “You’re really trying to outdo me, aren’t you?”
Chiara: “What?”
He pulled something out from his pocket: the Remembrall.
Jae: “This is for you. I wanted this night to be something you'd remember. Because I don’t need a Remembrall to remind me how I feel about you, Chiara.”
She was stunned. Her fingers lightly brushed the glass sphere before slowly reaching for his hand.
Jae: “I’ve wanted to tell you for ages. I know we’ve had our secret dates, but I don’t want it to be secret anymore. I‘d love for you to be my girlfriend. Officially.”
Chiara: “I was going to ask you the same thing.”
Before a new song could begin, Jae gently took her face in their hands and kissed her. When they pulled back, both of them were smiling and a little breathless.
Jae: “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”
Chiara: “Me too. I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone before and...that’s scary, but also exhilarating.”
Then Jae, unable to stop himself, let out a tiny laugh and wrapped his arms around her fully, pulling her into his chest.
Chiara: “Did I say something funny? You keep looking at me with that smile.”
Jae: “You just make me really happy. Like ridiculous, floating-above-the-ground kind of happy. And because I love you too, Chiara.”
Chiara looked up at him and kissed him again. They stayed wrapped in each other’s arms for a moment while the music swirled around them like a gentle spell.

Year 6: Valentine’s Day (Jae x Chiara)
Author’s Note: This story is inspired by the Valentine’s Day Ball TLSQ in Year 6. My MC is a witch who is in a relationship with Talbott Winger. Finally, Rowan is there, even though she isn’t part of the quest in the game.
Part 1/4
The Hogwarts kitchens buzzed with activity. The students were busy preparing treats and the air smelled like vanilla and sugar. Jae, Charlie, and Tulip stood at a long wooden table, surrounded by trays of fairy cakes, vibrant bowls of frosting, and an assortment of decorating tools.
Charlie: “Alright, we need to make these look like toadstools. Red tops, white spots. Simple enough.”
Jae: “Well, they have to taste as good as they look. No half-measures.”
Tulip dipped her finger into a bowl of red icing.
Tulip: “If that’s the case, I think we’re in good hands. You practically live in the kitchens.”
Charlie: “Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s doubting your skills.”
Jae, however, wasn’t paying attention. His mind wasn’t on the cakes.
After all, she had said yes.
He smiled as he carefully added white icing to a cake.
Charlie: “You’re really into this?”
Tulip: “Oh, please. He’s not focused on cakes. He’s thinking about Chiara. Right, Jae?” she teased.
Jae: “I just like baking.”
Charlie: “Uh-huh.” he said, unconvinced.
Jae: “You two talk too much. Get back to work, sous-chefs.”
Tulip: “Alright then, chef.” She grabbed a piping bag. “You better make this the best batch of fairy cakes Hogwarts has ever seen.”
Jae: “Oh, don’t worry. This batch is going to be special.”
Charlie and Tulip shared a knowing look but, for once, let him have the last word.
Meanwhile, at The Three Broomsticks, people were chatting about the upcoming Valentine’s day Ball. A fire crackled in the heart and filled the pub with a comforting warmth.
Chiara was sitting at a corner table with Rowan and MC, parchment spread out between them as they finalized plans for the music.
Rowan: “This playlist is coming together nicely.” She said while tapping a quill against her chin. “We just need to pick the opening song.”
MC: “Something magical but still danceable.”
Chiara, however, wasn’t paying attention. She was staring at her butterbeer with a small smile.
After all, he had finally asked her to be his date.
MC raised an eyebrow. “Chiara?”
Chiara: “Huh?”
MC: “You’re smiling a lot for someone who’s supposed to be stressing over song choices.”
Rowan’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Does this have something to do with Jae?”
Chiara lowered her gaze slightly, blushing.
Chiara: “I’m going to the ball with him.”
MC: “That’s amazing!”
Chiara let out a quiet laugh. “He looked happy when I said yes.”
Rowan: “I knew it! He’s completely smitten with you.”
Chiara: “Maybe…I really like him too.”
MC leaned forward. “How did he ask you?”
Chiara: “It was after class. We were walking to the Great Hall, and out of nowhere, he just… asked me.”
Rowan sighed dreamily. “That sounds like something straight out of a fairytale.”
MC: “You just think everything is a fairytale.”
Rowan: “Well, excuse me for appreciating a little romance! A grand ball, charming dates, magic in the air, it’s everything a fairytale should be!”
Chiara: “What about you, Rowie? Are you taking anyone special to the ball?”
Rowan: “Not this year! My true love is this ball. I want everything to be perfect.”
Chiara glanced at MC. “And you and Talbott? You must be excited.”
MC: “Of course! I don't know what Andre designed for Talbott's outfit, but I'm sure he will look fantastic. He is always so handsome.”
Rowan: “Aaaw. You think he’s got something romantic planned?”
MC: “I don’t know. I guess we’ll see.” MC raised her butterbeer. “To the best Valentine’s Day Ball Hogwarts has ever seen!”
Chiara and Rowan clinked their glasses against MC’s. “To the best Valentine’s Day Ball!”
Part 2/4
The Great Hall was completely transformed. The air was shimmering with floating rose petals and the soft glow of fairies. A magnificent mural (painted by Badeea and her friends) showcased a dazzling fairytale landscape. Above the tables, fairy cakes drifted gracefully. Everything looked perfect.
But Chiara’s stomach was in knots. She looked at the entrance. Again. Nothing.
Her grip on the goblet tightened. The chatter around her faded as her heart pounded. Rowan noticed first.
Rowan: “Chiara, you don’t look well. What’s going on? Where is Jae?”
Chiara: “He was supposed to meet me here twenty minutes ago.”
Rowan: “I hope it's a hippogriff attack, because he has no reason to keep you waiting.”
Chiara: “He said he’d be here. I don’t understand where he is.”
Before Rowan could respond, Penny appeared.
Penny: “Hey, you two.” Her usual brightness was dulled with concern.
Chiara: “Do you need help with something?”
Penny: “I was actually looking for you, Chiara. It’s about Jae.”
Chiara: “What happened?”
Penny took a moment to gather her thoughts. “I’ve been asking around. Apparently…Jae got detention.”
Chiara: “What?”
Penny: “It was Filch. Jae was caught sneaking into Filch’s office.”
Chiara: “Is he okay?”
Penny hesitated for a moment. “He's fine. He was caught trying to steal aconite…”
The realization hit Chiara like a rock. He’d been caught stealing them for her.
Everything around Chiara turned blurry, like the night of the Celestial Ball. She couldn't go because of the full moon, and he missed the ball as well, to watch over her. Even though she found out days later, Chiara felt guilty for stopping him from going. Her being a werewolf had messed everything up again.
But she didn’t say anything. She simply took a long sip from her goblet and felt the coldness of the drink seep into her chest.
Rowan: “Don’t be sad...It just shows how much he cares about you.”
Penny pulled Chiara in a gentle hug. “I’m sure there will be another chance for your date.”
Chiara stayed silent. Her mind raced while the guilt pressed down on her.
Part 3/4
The night was supposed to be special. It was supposed to be a celebration for all of them. But everything went wrong. Because of what she is. At that moment surrounded by love and second chances, she couldn’t stop thinking about the one they’d both lost. She tried to focus her attention on others. But there was an ache in her heart that refused to fade.
Then something shifted in the air.
She noticed a faint light at the entrance. For a moment, Chiara wasn’t sure if she was imagining it. But then it appeared again. The light grew brighter, and a soft rustling filled the hall as fireflies flew in. They moved together, glowing as they lit up the Great Hall.
And then, she saw them.
Tulip descended gracefully on her broom, fireflies trailing her like flickering stars. As she landed, the crowd cheered and clapped.
“Yeah, that’s my girl!” Tonks called from across the room.
Charlie wasn’t far behind. He landed with charisma, and the fireflies twirled around him. The crowd cheered for him too, caught up in the magic of it all.
And then, Jae.The fireflies illuminated his face, giving him an almost ethereal look. They stayed for a moment before scattering into the air.
Without thinking, Chiara started moving through the crowd. Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned quickly and before she could say anything, Jae was right there.
Jae: “Sorry I’m late,” he said, out of breath. “I got stuck in detention but these two managed to work some magic and get me out.”
Chiara couldn’t help but laugh, half-exasperated, half-relieved.
Chiara: “You could’ve waited until after the party to try and get into Filch’s office, you know.”
Jae: “I really thought I’d be fine. Filch was too busy preparing for his big night with Madam Pince, I figured he wouldn’t be paying attention. I miscalculated.”
Chiara: “Yeah. You did.” She said, folding her arms.
Jae: “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you worry.”
Before she could respond, he pulled her into a hug. For a second, she forgot everything else. Then reality crashed back into her. She pulled away, suddenly hyper aware of how close they were.
Chiara: “Do you need help with Filch? Surely he noticed you after your big entrance.”
Jae: “Don't worry, it's all sorted. Penny convinced Filch to postpone it. She gave him a whole speech about love, redemption and how even I deserve to enjoy Valentine's Day. He bought it, but I'll be scrubbing trophies tomorrow until they're spotless. It was totally worth it, though.”
Chiara: “Well, I’m glad you’re here. You look…very nice.”
Jae: “Thanks. You look stunning. So...may I have this dance?”
That time, she didn't hesitate.
Part 4/4
Chiara's heart was still pounding as the ball started to wind down. Jae had been spinning her around, making jokes, and laughing with her for hours. The last song ended, and it was time for their talk. She felt a gentle squeeze on her hand.
Jae: “Can we talk in private?”
As they turned toward the doors, Chiara caught movement from the corner of her eye. Penny and Rowan. They weren’t saying anything, thank Merlin, but their faces said it all. Penny’s eyes sparkled with excitement, while Rowan had both hands over her mouth, probably stopping herself from screaming.
For once, Chiara didn’t mind. She just tightened her grip on Jae’s hand and walked out before Penny and Rowan combusted on the spot. Thankfully, he was too focused on her to notice.
The only sound in the quiet courtyard was the faint rustling of leaves. The cool air did nothing to clear her head, and her thoughts remained unsettled. Jae, still holding her hand, turned to her.
Jae: “I wanted to tell you I fancy you, Chiara. A lot.”
Her stomach tightened. She had known for a little while but hearing him say it made it feel real. Too real. She pulled her hand away.
Chiara: “Jae… I don’t know if you should.”
Jae: “Why not?”
Chiara: “Because I don’t know if it could ever work between us. You almost missed the ball tonight, because of me. You missed the Celestial Ball because of me. Those stupid ingredients keep getting you in trouble.”
Jae: “Chiara-”
Chiara: “I know you don’t care about rules, but I don’t want to be another reason you get detention, you’re already stuck in the kitchens most of the time…”
Jae let out a quiet laugh. “Chiara! You don’t make my life harder. I do that all on my own.”
Chiara: “Jae, I’m serious.”
Jae: “So am I.”
The doubt in her eyes didn’t fade.
Jae moved closer and locked eyes with her. “Do you like me?”
Chiara: “...What?”
Jae: “I'll always be here for you, no matter what. I just want you to be honest with me.”
She knew the answer. She had known it for a while.
Chiara: “I, I do like you.” she finally murmured. “But that’s not the problem.”
Jae let out a quiet breath. “Then what is? If you feel the same way, that’s all that matters.”
Chiara: “Jae…”
Jae: “I mean it.” He took her hand. “I don’t care about the Celestial Ball. I don’t care about detention or stolen potion ingredients or whatever else. If I had to do it all over again, I would.”
Chiara’s eyes softened.
Jae continued. “And I wish you could see yourself the way I do. Because if you did, you’d know there’s no one else I’d rather be with.”
Jae's hand felt warm in hers, and his gaze calmed her racing heart. For a moment, nothing else mattered.
Before she could overthink it, she leaned in and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. Jae was completely still, until he couldn’t hide his joy any longer.
Chiara: “Thank you, Jae. You’re so sweet.”
Jae’s grip on her hand tightened slightly. “Yeah, well… I was always going to ask you out, sooner or later.”
Chiara felt lighter than she had in a long time.
Chiara: “We could try going on dates. Do you want to go for a walk?” she asked.
Jae: “Where to?”
Chiara: “Through the woods.”
He let out a dramatic sigh. “Risky for a first date, don’t you think?”
Chiara: “Maybe. But I think you'll survive.”
With that, she led him forward, the courtyard fading behind them. And this time, they were both at peace.
Bonus scene:
Chiara barely had time to step inside before MC nearly tackled her into a hug.
MC: “You're back!”
She tensed for a second before relaxing into it.
Chiara: “I was only gone for two hours.”
Penny: “You didn't go to sleep right after a big social event? That’s got to be a first.” She teased, sitting cross-legged on her bed.
MC grinned. “Alright, so… does this mean you and Jae are official?”
Chiara: “Not really...but we agreed to go on dates.”
Penny and Rowan jumped off their beds before Chiara could speak. The three of them embraced her in a tight group hug.
Chiara: “This is just between us, okay? Don't tell anyone.”
Rowan: “You’re gonna have to be extra careful, because Jae has always been terrible at hiding his feelings for you. But don’t worry, we’ve got you. I am so happy for you!”
Penny: “We need to plan a celebration for the four of us! How about a sleepover, right now, with hot chocolate and a huge ton of snacks?”
Rowan laughed. “Let's give Chiara a break! She's probably exhausted after all that's happened.”
Chiara smiled, grateful for Rowan.
Rowan: “We’ve got all the time in the world to talk about her love life at our next sleepover.”
Penny:“And ours. Because some people had their own little fairytale tonight.”
MC: “Not now, Penny.” she said, giggling.
Penny: “Rowan's got a point. How about some tea to help you relax, Moonbeam?”
Chiara nodded. “That sounds perfect.”

Year 5: Fun Festival
Author’s Note: This story takes place during the Fun Festival TLSQ (Year 5), and is inspired by its loading screen. MC is a witch (Hufflepuff) in a relationship with Talbott Winger. Finally, Rowan is there, even though she isn’t part of the quest in the game.
This is a fanfiction based on Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. I do not own any of these characters or the Harry Potter universe. All rights belong to their respective (and disappointingly problematic) creator. However, this story and space are inclusive, welcoming, and celebrate all fans. Hope you enjoy it!
Part 1/5
The Quidditch Pitch was a bustling festival. House banners fluttered, food stalls tempted, and students enjoyed enchanted games, art displays, a Crup petting area and much more.
Penny, Rowan, and Chiara made their way through the crowd. Penny carried a small bag of colorful sweets she had bought earlier. Chiara was slowly easing into the event and staying close to Rowan as they approached the open festival area.
MC and Talbott arrived shortly after. Talbott looked comfortable, which was unusual for him at loud social events. He felt happy standing next to MC as her boyfriend, occasionally caressing her hand.
Jae, Badeea, and Barnaby approached from the other side of the pitch. Jae had already managed to steal a few pastries. Barnaby, visibly excited, clutched a handful of wrapped candies. Badeea was writing a poem in her small notebook. When Jae attempted to look over her shoulder, she smacked his hand away without raising her eyes from her work.
The two groups found a grassy area where other students were relaxing and spread out their food. They shared their snacks and started talking. Suddenly, Penny looked around.
Penny: “Wait, where’s Andre?”
Everyone looked around the festival grounds until Barnaby pointed toward the Quidditch stands. There, sitting side by side, were Andre and Merula.
Andre seemed happy while Merula sat beside him, their usual sharp edges softened for once. They seemed deep in conversation, and for some reason, neither of them looked like they were about to argue.
Jae raised an eyebrow, leaning forward with an amused smirk. “Well… that’s horrifying.”
Barnaby, frowned in confusion. “Andre looks too calm. Has she bullied him into becoming miserable?”
Laughter exploded from the group. Chiara, who had been quiet for most of the time, let out a small giggle. Jae smirked at her reaction before lazily conjuring bubbles in the air, as if to celebrate the ridiculousness of the moment. The festival was off to a great start.
Part 2/5
Once they had finished eating and lounging in the grass, Penny clapped her hands together.
Penny: “Alright! So, what do we do first?”
Chiara and Barnaby (at the same time): “Crups!”
They blinked at each other before Barnaby grinned.
Barnaby: “I knew you’d say that!”
Chiara gave a small smile in return. It was true; they were the most obvious choices for this. The group made their way toward the Crup petting area, where many puppies were tumbling around, their tails wagging furiously. Some chased enchanted floating toys, while others bounced up to students, looking for attention.
The moment they got close, Chiara and Barnaby were already reaching out to pet the nearest Crups.
Chiara: “They’re so cute.”
Her face brightened as she stroked a puppy's belly, while Barnaby chuckled as one of them licked his face.
Barnaby: “I think this one’s my new best friend!”
Jae crouched down near another crup. “Hey, you think they like pastries?”
Chiara: “Jae, don’t-”
It was already too late. The crup had snatched the pastry from his fingers and bolted off with it.
Jae: “Well, too late.”
Barnaby patted his shoulder. “You’re a terrible influence. I’m so proud!”
Meanwhile, Talbott stood a little further away from the Crups. Watching MC play with them was adorable. One particularly energetic puppy had jumped into her lap.
Badeea: “You’re staring.” she teased.
Talbott immediately looked away. “No, I’m not.”
As they continued playing with the Crups, a loud voice suddenly rang out.
Madam Hooch: “No pushing!”
They turned to see Madam Hooch standing at a Quidditch Trick Shot booth. She looked exasperated as a group of students shoved each other, eager to take a turn at throwing a Quaffle through the moving hoops.
Barnaby: “That looks fun.”
Jae: “We should totally go show off our skills.”
“Skills?” Penny raised an eyebrow. “Jae, you don’t even play Quidditch.”
Jae: “No, but I do like breaking things.”
And with that, they had their next stop.
Part 3/5
Madam Hooch’s patience was already wearing thin as the group approached the Quidditch Trick Shot booth.
“Alright!” Barnaby said, rolling his shoulders. “Time to impress everyone.”
Penny: “You already impressed us when you lost a wrestling match against a Crup five minutes ago.”
Barnaby: “That was strategic! You have to let the Crup win, or it gets sad!”
While Penny and Barnaby bickered, Jae stepped up first. He grabbed the Quaffle.
Jae: “Alright, let’s see…” He tilted his head toward the moving hoops. “If I bounce it off that banner, angle it just right, then…”
With a lazy toss, he sent the Quaffle spinning straight past the hoops and into the snack stand nearby. A loud crash rang out, followed by an indignant voice. “My caramel tarts!”
Jae: “Alright, so we don’t do that.”
Rowan: “This is why you were banned from the cooking club.”
Jae: “That was an abuse of power, and you know it.”
Chiara: “I’m not even surprised.”
MC and Penny each took a turn, both managing clean shots through the hoops. Barnaby’s attempt was impressive in power. His Quaffle nearly knocked over a house banner on the other end of the field.
Penny: “That was so close!” she cheered.
Barnaby: “Was it?”
Chiara: “It really wasn’t, but I admire the enthusiasm.”
Rowan chuckled. “We can’t all be Quidditch stars. Some of us are just here for moral support.”
Badeea, who had been watching the game, nodded in agreement.
Badeea: “Same here. I’d rather not chase flying objects.”
MC looked at Talbott. “Not giving it a shot?”
Talbott: “Not my thing.”
MC: “Are you afraid to lose, bird boy?”
Talbott: “I just don’t see the point in throwing a ball past the hoops. But you were fantastic.”
MC: “Thank you, mon amour.”
Before their banter could continue, a particularly bad shot from another student sent a Quaffle flying toward the group right at Chiara. She barely had time to react and the ball knocked her backward slightly.
Jae’s easygoing attitude disappeared in an instant.
Jae: “Who threw that?”
The student who had missed sheepishly raised a hand. “Er… sorry?”
Chiara sighed. “Careful where you’re aiming.”
Rowan stepped closer, concerned. “ Are you okay?”
Chiara: “Yes. It just caught me off guard.”
Jae: “Are you sure?”
Chiara: “I’m fine, Jae, don’t worry.”
Barnaby: “On the bright side, at least you didn’t get hit by a Bludger.”
Penny: “Alright, maybe let’s look for something less dangerous.”
As the group moved on, Jae stayed close to Chiara’s side.
Part 4/5
The festival buzzed with energy as students weaved through the different stands, enjoying the festivities. The students suddenly heard a familiar song.
Penny: “Time to go dancing!”
Barnaby: “Finally, something I’m good at!”
Badeea: “That does sound fun.”
Barnaby: “Okay, dance break for us! See you all in a bit!”
MC turned to her boyfriend. “What about you?”
Talbott: “I could use some fresh air, if you know what I mean.”
MC turned back to the others. “Alright, we'll be back soon.”
Rowan crossed her arms with a teasing smile. “Have fun, lovebirds!”
MC smiled playfully before walking off with Talbott, arms linked.
As Jae, Chiara, and Rowan continued strolling through the stalls, Rowan found herself trailing slightly behind the other two. She noticed how Jae naturally matched Chiara’s pace, how he made jokes that made her laugh.
Rowan: “You know what? I think I’ll go see what Ben’s up to.”
Chiara: “Oh, alright.”
Jae simply nodded. “See you later, then.”
Rowan smiled before leaving the two to explore the festival together.
Part 5/5
Jae suddenly stopped in front of a game booth. It was one of those simple carnival challenges: knocking over enchanted bottles with a well-aimed spell.
He turned to Chiara. “How about a little challenge? I think it'd be fun to see who’s got a better aim.”
Chiara: “Alright.”
Jae: “And to make it interesting… whoever wins gets to paint the other’s face.”
Chiara: “Seriously?”
Jae: “Yeah. Stakes make everything more fun.”
Chiara: “...Fine. But no cheating, okay? We both know how you play games.”
Jae placed a hand over his heart in mock offense. “You wound me.”
They took turns casting their spells. Jae was good but Chiara was better. She hit most targets with precision.
The stand owner clapped. “Impressive! A very good score!”
He reached behind the counter and held out a selection of plushies. Chiara scanned the options before settling on a teddy bear. She cradled it in her arms, looking pleased.
Jae: “I didn’t know you were hiding a competitive streak.”
Chiara: “I wasn’t. It was very funny to play with you. Now, you can have your prize!”
Jae barely had time to react before she flicked her wand. The result was a cartoonish face complete with whiskers and a tiny pink nose. Jae stared at a window. His expression immediately deadpanned.
Jae: “I look like a Kneazle!”
Chiara tilted her head, feigning innocence. “I have no idea what you're talking about.”
Jae: “The paint looks good actually, I can embrace my new feline lifestyle.”
Chiara held out the teddy bear. "And you can have this."
Jae: “Why are you giving me your hard-earned victory prize?”
Chiara: “I think it suits you.”
Jae: “Really?”
Chiara: “You can say no, you know.”
Jae dramatically hugged the bear. “Oh no. It’s mine now. You can’t take it back.”
Without hesitation, he removed his sunglasses and perched them on the bear’s face.
Chiara: “ He’s becoming you.”
Jae: “A bear can only dream.”
Then, without thinking much of it, Chiara reached toward him.
Chiara: “Hold still...” she murmured.
Jae barely had time to react before she unraveled his scarf and looped it around the bear’s neck. Her fingers brushed against the back of his neck in the process. For a brief second, Jae froze. The warmth of her fingertips lingered against his skin, sending a strange feeling through him. Chiara, completely unfazed, took a step back and looked at her work.
Chiara: “There.” she said, satisfied. “Now he’s really you!”
The playful smile was back on Jae’s face in an instant, but something in his eyes had softened.
Jae: “Almost as cute as the original.”
Chiara: “Almost...but not q-quite.”
For once, Jae didn’t have a comeback. Chiara bit her lip, eyes wide, already second-guessing everything. But then he smiled.
Jae: “Yeah, not quite.”
A familiar melody drifted through the air. It was one of Chiara’s favorites songs, This is the Night. Jae noticed her reaction.
Jae: “You like this one?”
She nodded.
Jae ran a hand through his hair. “Alright, then, I can’t take you to the dance floor if I look like a Kneazle, can I?”
Chiara: “Are you sure?”
Jae: “Of course, if you want to.”
Chiara: “I would love to.”
She reached for his face, her fingertips brushing against his cheek as she murmured the counter-spell. The face paint shimmered before disappearing completely.
Jae: “Thanks, I’m back to being the most handsome wizard at the festival.”
Chiara huffed a quiet laugh.
Jae suddenly offered her his hand. “May I?”
Chiara took his hand. The festival continued but for a moment, it felt like only they existed. Plus a teddy bear in sunglasses and a scarf, watching them from a nearby table.

Through The Wolf's Eyes
Author’s Note: This story takes place after the “Penny for Your Thoughts” sidequest in Year 3. MC is a witch that decided not to let Penny drink the Forgetfulness potion, as she believes Penny is strong enough to deal with her trauma. Rowan and MC are aware of Chiara’s secret.
Part 1/8
The Hufflepuff common room was filled with the usual comforting buzz of activity. Third-years exchanged Chocolate Frog Cards, while first-years huddled near the fireplace with mugs of hot chocolate. At the center of it all was Penny Haywood, chatting with a large group of students. Despite her cheerfulness, her eyes kept straying towards the far corner of the room.
Curled up in an isolated place, Chiara Lobosca seemed lost in thought. Penny had always tried to befriend her. They had been dorm mates for three years, but the pale-haired girl remained a mystery. She was reserved and never joined late-night gossip sessions. She simply kept everyone at a distance, and Penny couldn't understand why.
She got to her feet, brushing off her robes, and approached the quiet Hufflepuff with an easy smile.
Penny: “Hi, there! We’re about to sneak into the kitchens for some snacks. Do you want to come with us?”
The question seemed to pull her out of her thoughts. Her surprised expression quickly faded.
Chiara: “No, thank you.”
Penny: “Are you sure? It’ll be fun!”
Chiara: “I’m sure. See you later.”
Penny: “Alright, maybe another time?”
Chiara returned her attention to her book without responding. With a small sigh, Penny stepped away and decided to join her other friends. She flopped down next to MC and Rowan, who were quietly playing wizard's chess.
MC asked without looking up. “She rejected you again, didn't she?”
Penny: “She always does.”
Rowan gave instructions to a piece on the board, then said “That’s just how she is, Pen”
Penny: “But why? She’s been like this for years! I get that some people are just shy, but we literally sleep in the same dorm and see each other all the time. You’d think she'd be more open by now, but she's still keeping me at distance.”
MC and Rowan exchanged a look. Penny crossed her arms and lowered her voice slightly.
Penny: “And have you ever noticed that she just disappears sometimes?”
Rowan: “What do you mean?”
Penny: “She's been sneaking out some nights and brushes me off when I ask about it. At first, I thought she was visiting someone, but then I noticed something weird. She always comes back looking exhausted.”
Rowan's fingers fidgeted lightly and MC's body tensed.
MC and Rowan sat in silence. Each waited for the other to break the silence, but neither seemed willing to make the first move.
Penny: “You’ve noticed it too, haven’t you?”
MC hesitated. “Penny…”
Penny: “I know you two are close to her. I'm not trying to be nosy, I promise. I'm just really confused and I want to get to know her better. What is up with her?”
MC glanced at Rowan. Rowan gave a slight head shake, silently telling her to keep quiet.
Rowan: “If Chiara wants to talk about it, she will.”
Penny knew she should leave Chiara alone. Except the social butterfly wasn’t the kind of person to let things go easily. When Chiara once again disappeared on the night of a full moon, Penny was ready. She threw on her cloak, grabbed her wand, and followed her.
Part 2/8
The lone student arrived at the doors that led to the castle grounds. She was definitely not sneaking off to meet someone. Penny felt anxious as Chiara headed towards the Forbidden Forest. Her grip on her wand tightened and she sped up.
The trees made the forest way darker than she expected. Penny had to watch her step around the underbrush and roots as she carefully made her way deeper into the woods. Up ahead, Chiara finally stopped. She stood in the middle of a small clearing, bathed in silver light.
Out of nowhere, Chiara started trembling violently and clutching her arms. A low, painful sound escaped her lips. Before Penny could react, Chiara's body began to transform.
Bones cracked. Limbs twisted. Penny looked up at the sky, noticing the full moon. Her heart was pounding in fear, realizing what it meant. She watched in horror as Chiara’s entire form warped into her biggest nightmare. A werewolf.
A chilling memory seized her. The sound of Scarlett’s terrified scream. She could still see the fear in her friend’s eyes the day she was killed by a werewolf, years ago. Back to the present, the golden haired girl could only see Chiara’s sharp claws, similar to the ones that had ripped Scarlett away from her.
She screamed in terror. Chiara’s glowing blue eyes met hers as her head turned in Penny’s direction, her ears flattened against her skull.
Penny’s wand shook in her hand as Scarlett's screams rang in her mind once again. Unable to breathe, she started hallucinating. She could see her own death; at any moment, the werewolf would attack her, and her fangs and claws would rip her apart.
Chiara's muscles tensed but she stayed back. She then bolted into the darkness. Branches snapped under her weight as she ran through the woods, away from Penny.
Penny's knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground. She was relieved to have survived, but terror quickly followed. Chiara was a werewolf. Shaking with fear, she got up and ran back to Hogwarts. She had never felt so scared before.
Part 3/8
The usually cheerful woke up the next morning determined to face the day. She headed down to the Hufflepuff common room, which was buzzing with its usual morning energy. Students were chatting over breakfast leftovers and finishing last-minute homework. Penny tried to get back to her routine by joining in casual conversations.
Penny's conversation with her friends was interrupted by the sound of the creaking door. Chiara stepped inside, and Penny's words immediately died on her lips. Fear replaced her usual smile.
The sudden change in her usually lively attitude was clear to the Hufflepuffs around her. One of them whispered: “Penny, are you okay? You just went quiet. Is it... because of her?”
Penny: “What? No, no.” She forced herself to smile, looking away from Chiara. “She just... surprised me, that's all!”.
The cluster of Hufflepuff students started whispering.
“You know what I heard? Apparently, Chiara’s obsessed with the ghosts here. She’s in love with one of them, and she tries to follow them around.”
“And I heard she was learning the ways of the dead. She probably thinks she’s one of them.”
“Maybe she’s possessed by one of them. It would explain why she’s always so weird.”
Penny felt uncomfortable as the others gossiped about Chiara and changed the subject. Chiara, visibly anxious, left the common room to hide somewhere.
Rowan and MC entered the room from the other side. They overheard the hushed whispers.
Rowan: “Did you hear that?” She muttered, clearly disgusted.
MC: “Yeah, I did. Penny really should've said something about those awful remarks.”
Rowan: “I don’t get it. She’s just letting it happen, and Chiara is already uncomfortable enough as it is. Where is she, by the way?”
MC: “I don’t know. She probably just wants some alone time right now. If she needs us, she knows where to find us.”
The two of them exchanged a look. They were fed up with the gossip, and with a simple nod, they walked out. Stepping out into the hallway was a welcome change from the stuffy room.
A few hours later, in Potion class, the air was thick with the scent of burning ingredients and damp stone. Snape walked to the front of the classroom, his presence silencing the students as they took their seats.
Snape: “You will be working in groups of four today.” he announced with a cold gaze. “I will make the groups myself.”
Penny was excited by the prospect of potion-making. She sat up straighter.
Snape: “Haywood, Lobosca, Brown, and Fawcett, you will work together on the antidote to common poisons.”
Chiara nodded slightly, but Penny remained still. The tension was subtle at first as the four of them began to work in silence. She maintained her composure, carefully measuring powdered unicorn horns. However, when Chiara reached for the stirring rod, Penny instantly drew back.
Chiara was sad to see Penny be so panicked because of her. So she spoke as little as possible. They were supposed to work together, but Penny and the others naturally leaned toward each other. Their conversations became more hushed and private, leaving Chiara on the outside.
Snape finally dismissed the class after what felt like an eternity. Penny's shoulders relaxed as she stepped away. Her friends followed, and their discussion went along just fine.
Chiara cleaned the cauldron after everyone else had left, alone. She was filled with regret. She should have been more cautious the night before. Things like that happened at almost every class and during lunchtime, she could feel the tension while she was sitting at the Hufflepuff table. Penny's fear was obvious, and Chiara’s mind came to a conclusion: her presence was a burden to others.
Part 4/8
Chiara's absence grew more and more noticeable as the days turned into weeks. Chiara began skipping meals and missing classes. She would keep her head down and disappear as soon as lessons ended. Nobody seemed to know where she went and while most people didn't seem to notice or care, Rowan and MC did.
One evening, they sat together in the common room, their books open but long forgotten.
MC: “This isn’t normal.”
Rowan: “I know. She’s completely isolated.”
MC: “I'm getting worried. Whatever happened, we need to find a way to help her.”
Rowan: “We will, don’t worry.”
They had no idea that later that night, Rowan would get her chance.
Later, under the moon’s watch, the Hufflepuff dormitories were silent. In their dorm, MC, Penny and Rowan had been asleep. Of course someone was missing.
All of a sudden, the door creaked open. Rowan’s eyes opened just in time to see Chiara’s figure slipping into the room. She was moving as quietly as possible to avoid disturbing anyone.Rowan sat up and put on her glasses.
Rowan: “Chiara?”
For a moment, she didn’t answer.
Chiara: “Go back to sleep.”
Rowan was already climbing out of bed.
Rowan: “Are you kidding me? I haven’t seen you in ages!”
She gently puts her hand on Chiara’s shoulder.
Rowan: “Where have you been?”
Chiara: “It doesn’t matter.”
Rowan: “Of course it matters. You disappear for hours, you barely eat, and now you come back looking like you’ve been fighting with a griffin!”
Rowan's voice started getting louder. Chiara's head quickly turned towards the other beds to see if anyone had woken up. Rowan followed her gaze, then sighed.
Rowan: “Fine. Not here. Come with me.”
Chiara: “This isn’t a good idea Rowan, you could get in trouble.”
Rowan: “Chiara, please.”
Rowan took Chiara from the dorm, through the silent castle, and into the Artefact Room.
Chiara was exhausted and sat against the wall. Rowan sat beside her, and in the soft light, she could see the scrapes on her robe better. Along with bruises on her skin.
Rowan: “What’s wrong? Why do you disappear all the time?”
Chiara: “I can’t stand being around people, more than usual.”
Rowan: “If it's because of those ridiculous rumors, I can help you. We can always ask Penny to help us.”
Chiara: “I don’t think Penny wants anything to do with me.”
Rowan: “What happened?”
Chiara: “On the last fullmoon, Penny followed me into the forest. She saw me transform.”
Rowan was stunned.
Rowan: “I should’ve known she’d do something like that. I guess she didn’t take it very well.”
Chiara: “You’re right, and she’s been afraid of me ever since. I don’t blame her.”
Rowan: “Stop it, you are the sweetest person in Hogwarts.”
Chiara looked away. “If I hadn’t been so distant, maybe she wouldn’t have felt the need to follow me.”
Rowan: “You can’t say that! I love Penny but she had no right to follow you. Have you just been hanging out in dangerous places all alone this entire time?”
Chiara didn’t answer.
Rowan: “That’s insane! Why didn’t you come to us?”
Chiara: “Because I don’t want you to have problems with Penny. It’s not her fault if she’s afraid of werewolves.”
Rowan: “You’re my friend, you idiot. I won’t let this situation continue! You haven’t done anything wrong-”
Chiara: “Rowan, please stop. Thank you for worrying about me, but I am exhausted.”
Chiara finally met her eyes. “I just wanted to grab a chocolate frog in our dorm but this is becoming overwhelming.”
Rowan sighed. “Alright. But you’re staying here tonight. We both are.”
Chiara: “Rowan-”
Rowan: “No. If you won’t go back to the dorm, then we’ll sleep here. I’m not leaving you alone again. And you’re definitely not sleeping outside on your own.”
Rowan observed Chiara's hesitation, unconvinced that her words had made a difference. Despite this, Rowan settled down next to Chiara, listening to what she went through.
What Rowan didn’t know was that before morning came, Chiara would be gone.
Part 5/8
MC wakes up to Rowan shaking her shoulder.
Rowan: “She’s gone.”
MC blinks, groggy. “Who?”
Rowan: “Chiara! She left before I woke up.”
MC immediately sits up. “Wait, what? When did you see her?”
Rowan’s frustration was palpable. “Last night. She finally talked to me, told me everything. Apparently, a certain blonde witch thought it was a good idea to follow her on the full moon and found out her secret, against her will.”
MC’s eyes widened as she got up. “Blimey, I can’t believe she did this!”
“Oh, she did.” Rowan grabbed her wand. “And now, after everything we’ve done to make Chiara comfortable at Hogwarts, Penny decides to act like a coward and treat her like some dangerous monster!”
MC: “This has to be a misunderstanding.”
Rowan: “We need to find her. Now.”
In the common room, Penny is sitting with other Hufflepuffs, laughing and completely unaware of the storm heading her way. Rowan doesn’t waste time. She marches straight up to Penny, barely giving MC time to keep up.
Rowan: “Penny. We need to talk. Right now.”
The popular Hufflepuff is surprised by her friend’s seriousness. She excuses herself and follows them to a quiet room.
Penny: “What’s going on, Rowie?”
Rowan: “Chiara is missing.”
Penny frowns. “Again?”
Rowan’s patience is razor-thin. “She left before anyone could notice. However, she told me last night how miserable she’s been.”
Penny: “It’s really unfortunate but… what does that have to do with me?”
Rowan: “Penny, you went behind her back and discovered her secret before she was ready to share it! And for weeks, you acted like she was someone to be afraid of!”
Penny: "She told you that?"
Rowan: "We both know how you feel about werewolves. "
Penny: “I am trying. But this isn’t just about Chiara! ”
Rowan: “That doesn’t change what happened! Chiara never did anything to you.”
Penny: “I get that she's not a threat, but I’ve been dealing with a fear that none of you understand.”
Rowan clenches her jaw. “Which is obviously a good reason to ostracize an innocent girl.”
Penny looked guilty for a second, but she didn't say anything.
Rowan shaked her head. “We’re burning minutes on this. I’m going to look for her before class.”
Without waiting for a response, she turned and stormed off. Penny watched her leave, shoulders tense.
MC: “Penny…We need to talk later, okay?”
Penny: “Yeah. We should. Go find Chiara first.”
After agreeing to continue the conversation later, MC quickly follows Rowan.
Part 6/8
Things didn’t go as planned. Chiara had disappeared for two days which left Rowan in a state of panic. She and MC had been tirelessly searching the castle for any sign of the missing girl. The professors were worried too. During their search, MC came across Penny sitting in the courtyard, staring at the ground.
MC: “It’s been two days, Penny. Two days, and Chiara’s still missing.”
Penny: “I know. I hope she's fine.”
MC: “Then why haven’t you done anything?”
Penny: “What do you expect me to do?”
MC: “Maybe help look for her? I tried to be understanding last time but Rowan had a point. Finding out her secret made you treat her worse.”
Penny: “It’s not that simple. Every time I looked at Chiara, I saw what happened to Scarlett. I thought if I stayed away from her, I could avoid the pain. Am I supposed to pretend she doesn’t scare me?”
MC: “If you opened your eyes for more than three seconds, you'd see there's nothing to be scared of. You always talk about kindness, but the moment you got afraid, you abandoned her.”
Penny: “I didn’t mean to.”
MC sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Maybe this is my fault, too.”
Penny: “What do you mean?”
MC: “Back when you wanted to take that Forgetfulness Potion, I told you not to. I thought you could get past this on your own. But maybe I should’ve just let you take it.”
Penny froze for a moment, eyes wide open. She suddenly snapped out of it.
Penny: “You’re right.”
MC: “…I am?”
Penny: “I let my fear control me. I let it hurt Chiara. She didn’t deserve that.”
Then, without another word, she got up.
MC: “Penny?”
Penny: “The night I followed her… I saw where she ran, somewhere in the Forbidden Forest. She might be there.”
MC: “Then what are we standing here for? Let's go find her!”
Penny swiftly grabbed her wand and a magic bag. She pulled out a few potions: Wiggenweld, Sleeping Draught, and Fire-Breathing potion, just in case. MC grabbed two brooms.
Penny slung her bag over her shoulder and mounted her broom.
MC looked over at her. “You think she’s okay?”
Penny: “I’m not sure. But we will find her.”
They kicked off the ground, speeding toward the Forbidden Forest.
Part 7/8
Penny and MC entered the Forbidden Forest and decided to split up to find Chiara faster. Sunlight filtered through the trees as Penny spotted Chiara sitting on a fallen log. The light showed how sad she was. Penny immediately jumped off her broom and embraced her in a gentle hug. Chiara tensed up.
Penny: “I'm so relieved you're okay! I should’ve come sooner.”
Chiara: “I didn’t expect you to come at all.”
Penny: “I’ll make things right this time. I’m taking you back to the castle.”
Chiara moved away from her. “I'm not upset that you got scared. I get it. But that's exactly why you should’ve stayed away from me.”
Penny: “Don’t say that. I was wrong; that wasn't the right way to treat a friend.”
Chiara: “Penny, I appreciate your concern. But we are not friends.”
Heartbroken, she insisted. “I know I messed up. But that doesn’t mean you have to stay here. Come with me, please.”
Chiara: “I can’t go back. It wasn’t just you.”
Penny doesn’t speak right away. Guilt settles like a stone in her chest.
Penny: “Did something happen with the other Hufflepuffs?”
Chiara: “Some of them won’t leave me alone. They cornered me and told me everyone was tired of my presence. That things would be easier if I just went away.”
Chiara's words pierced Penny's heart. Her mind was haunted by the whispers and the cruel comments she had passively ignored. The harsh truth of her inaction made her hands tremble.
Penny: “Chiara, I’m so sorry-”
A guttural growl interrupted Penny and Chiara's conversation. A Chimera entered the clearing and looked at them with glowing eyes. The beast was ready to strike. Both Penny and Chiara stood up, wands drawn.
Penny focused on finding a way to escape. A potentially dangerous idea sparked in her mind.
Penny: “Bombarda!”
The spell caused a blast that shook the area. A tree log hit her. She fell to one knee as the Chimera stepped back, growling.
Chiara: “Penny!”
Penny: "I'm okay, distract the Chimera!"
Chiara casted spells to force the Chimera to retreat, allowing Penny to stand up.
Penny grabbed her Sleeping Draught. Using all her strength, she threw it at the Chimera's head. The bottle broke and the potion went into its mouth. It snarled and fell asleep. Chiara quickly came to Penny’s side to help.
Chiara: “That was a brilliant idea. But we need to get you out of here, you're hurt.”
Penny: “Yeah, I'll probably be in the Hospital Wing for a bit, but I’m glad we’re alive!”
Once Penny was stable, Chiara pulled her broom and swung a leg over. She jumped into the air with a strong kick. Using her sharp eyes and knowledge of the area, she quickly found MC. They flew towards Hogwarts; MC went to find Rowan while Chiara hurried Penny to the Hospital Wing.
Part 8/8
Once in the Hospital Wing, Chiara insisted on healing Penny herself, despite the exhaustion. Madam Pomfrey allowed it after a moment’s hesitation.
Madam Pomfrey: “You will need to rest after this, Miss Lobosca.”
Chiara didn’t need more encouragement. She first focused on healing Penny's wounds. The golden-haired girl looked pale but rested quietly on the bed as Chiara healed her.
A few moments later, the door to the Hospital Wing opened. MC entered, followed closely by Rowan. Both of them looked relieved to see Chiara and Penny. But it was Rowan who couldn’t contain herself. She ran straight to Chiara and hugged her.
Rowan: “Chiara! Thank Merlin, you’re safe!”
Chiara stiffened for a moment, then felt a sense of peace she hadn’t realized she’d been searching for.
Chiara: “It’s good to see you too, Rowan.”
MC stood off to the side, silently watching the reunion with a soft smile.
Rowan took a step back and looked at Penny. The tension was palpable.
Rowan: “Are you alright, Penny?”
Penny: “Yeah, I’m fine, thanks to Chiara.”
Rowan: “Good. I’m glad you're both safe.”
After a moment of silence, Penny reached for Rowan’s hand.
Penny: “Rowan…I hate being at odds with you.”
Rowan: “I don’t like it either. Luckily I'm not mad at you anymore.” she replied quietly.
Penny: “Really? I was ready to spend all night baking cauldron cakes to make it up to you.”
Rowan: “You don’t need to-”
MC: “I’ll gladly take cauldron cakes.” she said, ironically.
Madam Pomfrey, who had been working with the other students, looked up when she heard the girls' laughter. She gave the four girls a stern look.
Madam Pomfrey: “We’re not allowing visitors at the moment. Miss Haywood and Miss Lobosca need their rest, so it’s best if you leave for now. I’ll inform you when they’re ready to have company.”
Rowan squeezed Chiara’s shoulder one last time before she turned toward the door with MC following her.
The room grew quiet as Chiara finished healing her.
Penny, now sitting up, hesitated before speaking.
Penny: “I don’t want to be a coward anymore.”
Chiara: “You were incredibly brave to handle that Chimera the way you did. You're not a coward.” she said, still focused on her healing spells.
Penny: “I wasn’t talking about that. I'm sorry for everything. I shouldn't have followed you, treated you like a threat, or let others speak badly about you.”
Chiara's healing stopped as sadness overwhelmed her.
Penny: “I'll sort this out and make sure no one's giving you any trouble anymore.”
Chiara: “You… you would do that?”
Penny: “I should’ve done it a long time ago. No one should treat you like that.”
Chiara: “Thanks, Penny.”
Then, after a beat of silence, Penny spoke again.
Penny: “I just want to ask…what does it feel like? You looked like you were suffering that day. Does it hurt?”
Chiara: “The transformations are painful. Sometimes the worst part is not knowing what I might do. The Wolfsbane Potion keeps me grounded, but dealing with other people is hard too. Some are scared, others can be cruel so I decided to keep it a secret.”
Penny: “This sounds like a lot. Are you getting any help with it?”
Chiara: “I prefer taking care of things myself, though a few people help when they can.”
Penny: “What about your family? Do they help too?”
Chiara: “My parents do what they think is best.”
Penny could tell Chiara didn’t want to say more, and she didn’t want to push her. Instead, she offered a small smile.
Penny: “Well, from now on, you can count on me as well.”
Chiara: “That’s…nice of you.”
Penny: “I know we’ve had some rough moments, but I’d really like to be your friend, Chiara. If you’d let me.”
Chiara lowered her gaze as her fingers tightened briefly around her sleeve.
Penny: “Okay, okay, what if we just eat together tonight? You, me, MC, and Rowan. Nothing serious, just food and company.”
Chiara: “Sure. I really do miss the food we have at the Great Hall.”
That night they all had dinner together. It went surprisingly well, and it felt like a weight had lifted.
After that, Chiara started spending a lot more time with Penny, Rowan, and MC. They would have sleepovers, laughing and talking like old friends. Penny and Chiara really made an effort to be there for each other, and they became close friends. It wasn’t always perfect, but they leaned on each other and their friendship grew stronger over time. Eventually, Chiara stopped keeping to herself out of fear. She allowed herself to love and trust again, as those girls showed genuine care and support.
Bonus scene:
Penny had prepared a picnic lunch of pumpkin pasties and small sandwiches in Hagrid’s garden. MC, Rowan, Charlie, and Tulip were already there enjoying the peaceful afternoon. Penny hoped that meeting someone new might encourage Chiara to be less hesitant and open up to people. After a moment, she gently touched Chiara’s arm.
Penny: “Come with me for a second. There’s someone I want you to meet.”
They moved slightly away, towards a boy who was casually leaning against a tree with his hands in his pockets.
Penny: “Chiara, this is Jae. I thought you two might get along.”
Chiara: “Nice to... meet you?”
Jae: “Likewise.”
Penny, satisfied, turned away to fuss over the picnic setup. As soon as she was distracted, Jae leaned in a little.
Jae: “I didn’t expect to run into you like this.”
Chiara: “Me neither. She has no idea, does she?”
Jae: “Not a clue.”
He reached into his bag and handed her a small pouch.
Jae: “Wolfsbane ingredients. I figured you might need more soon.”
Chiara: “Thank you, Jae.”
Penny suddenly turned back.
Penny: “All good?”
Jae: “We’ve actually met before.”
Penny: “Wait, really? How?”
Jae: “Let’s say that she knows where to find me when she needs...stuff.”
Chiara: “Not all the time, but I can always rely on him if need be. I think it’s been a year now since we met.”
Penny: "It’s so adorable." She said with a huge smile.
Jae slightly blushed and quickly changed the subject .
Jae: “I don’t know if you noticed but Charlie's about to eat all the sandwiches. We can’t let that happen. Come on, you two.”
The three of them walked back toward the picnic blanket and spent most of the afternoon laughing with their friends.
