i can’t wait for the next show i have missed him so bad what is wrong with me

yes this!!!! it’s making people think about sexuality and how society views women, etc… its been very telling.

oh so a male artist can consistently degrade women and get away with zero to little repercussions… but a female artist chooses to present herself a certain way and SHE is the one setting back feminism hundreds of years……….. okay.

as a young woman, who has spent a lot of my early adulthood feeling very insecure, sabrina has done nothing but make me feel more comfortable with my sexuality. i know that is just one persons experience, but i don’t know how a woman being confident and expressing her art how she wishes translates to “she is pushing back feminism hundreds of years”. when there are people like charlie kirk spreading rhetoric that women are more depressed these days because they are focusing on their careers instead of getting married young, staying at home and having as many babies as possible! maybe its just me but thats way more concerning and harmful to me as a woman than sabrina’s album cover!

and also the first single of this album literally calls out male weaponised incompetence for its whole run time.

i’m tired of this conversation. stop telling women what is the right and wrong way to express themselves. and i feel like a big point of the album cover is that it’s meant to make you feel a little uncomfortable, she’s leaning into how women are perceived as men’s “pets” and that IS uncomfortable and gross and weird. i feel like there are so many layers to this album cover that people are looking past, and are instead throwing weird conservative purity culture insults at her that i fear is doing nothing for feminism either!! the way some people have jumped to basically slut shaming in the name of “feminism” makes me feel sick.

but personally i am so grateful for sabrina and what she has done for me and my confidence, and august 29 is marked in my calendar, cant wait! 💗

one more thing and i’m then i’ll be done— i was talking about this when ttpd came out too, but it’s interesting to me how a lot of critique about people’s art these days (especially women’s art) sounds like “she shouldn’t have made the cover like that” or “she shouldn’t have made the album so long. she needed an editor” instead of “i personally don’t like the cover” or “i prefer shorter albums”. like there’s this implication that women are having a hard time expressing the message that they’re intending to and YOU as a random twitter user actually could’ve done it better. instead of thinking, “hm she made an interesting choice here, i wonder why that is”

remember when sabrina wrote a vulnerable song (and a whole album tbh) about how she got publicly slut shamed by the whole world just for liking a boy and the emotional toll that took on her? funny how nobody had shit to say about that side of her but now that she's in on the joke, now that she's claiming more agency over her life, her sexuality, her choices, it's grab the pitchforks!!! she stopped crying about it and started laughing with the people hurting her and suddenly everyone is mad idk i find it interesting

the problem with watching buffy the vampire slayer for the first time when you're 13 is that it will fundamentally reshape your brain chemistry to the point where literally all fiction becomes buffy the vampire slayer in different fonts. "watch another show!" you might say, and believe me i have! i promise i've watched many other shows since i was 13. but the problem is that all those other shows as well as films, books, podcasts etc. are simply deviations of buffy the vampire slayer to me. it's the holy text, the primary source. everything else is just commentary.
