Fire at the Sahara, August 25, 1964.
On a day of 105° heat, a fire dropped the roof of the casino and knocked out electricity and AC in the front and north portions of the hotel. The lobby, lounge, showroom sustained damage. There were no injuries. Following the fire, gaming and reservations were moved to a temporary space, and entertainment by headliner Buddy Hackett's continued in the convention center.
