THE GREAT TUMBLR GIRLBOSS BRACKET
Do you love women? Do you love women when they’re evil and/or despicable? Do you think that we need more toxic women in this world? Do you just believe we should shatter the glass ceiling in the next two and half days?
THEN THIS IS THE TOURNAMENT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
In this tournament we will decide who is the absolute girlerstbossest girlboss in the entire great wide world of blorbos. The submission form is here. I will limit the submissions based on need, but until then I plan on having the form open for about a week, and then I’ll gather images & get the polls set up on a queue. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ADD WHATEVER PERSONAL PICKS I WANT.
RULES:
No currently alive people. I will accept historical figures provided that they have been dead since before 1900 (Mary Queen of Scots = OK, Margaret Thatcher = no-go).
No MCYT/YouTube Roleplayers. It’s too difficult to differentiate betwixt the character they’re playing and the person they are.
The character must be a girl or woman. Male characters are not girlbosses, I’m sad to say.
I reserve the right to reject any characters for any reason. When I reveal the bracket, you may submit any grievances.
When trimming down the bracket, my criteria will be: 1. My personal biases, 2. Number of submissions of the character, 3. Strength of the evidence.
Other rules will be added as this goes on.
The link to the form, once more: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1XtI-DS4AbwpidvR_WMHObEXt9KIdb7quRI2TMC72chg/
I’m given to understand that this is the point in the introduction post where I tag other poll blogs, so @who-do-i-know-this-man, @trio-of-all-time, @unreliablenarratorpoll @battleoftheicyfreaks

welcome to the ultimate instrument poll!
exactly what it sounds like - a tournament to determine the best (tumblr’s favourite) instrument.
submission guidelines
anything capable of making music welcome - including things that might not technically be instrument (like singing) (we are using instrument in the broadest sense here)
slightly silly/impractical/otherwise unusual instruments allowed and encouraged (like the octobass - please google if you haven’t heard of it, one of the most impractical instruments i think)
probably no fictional instruments unless you can make a really compelling argument for why they should be included
if you’re submitting an obscure/fictional instrument please give me a good description/link to wiki page/etc so i can find the right thing to include (and if you have a particular picture you’d like me to use, send that as well)
the number of submissions required for an instrument to be included will probably depend on how many submissions there are overall, as well as how intrigued/convinced i am by them
also the viola will get in automatically because i play it and am not above some moderator bias (sorry)
propaganda is both allowed and encouraged! though please tag me so i definitely see it
all polls/similarly important posts will be tagged with #ultimate instrument poll
please send your submissions below !
submissions will remain open for 2 weeks (probably) (so till the 20th May)
anyway i think that’s everything ! if you have any questions/any of this is unclear please send me an ask :)
go wild !
some other polls i’ve been enjoying/ to spread the word
@mfshipbracket @17-million-years-of-pining-poll @thing-fight @character-of-all-time @the-ultimate-tournament @colourcontest @best-animal-bracket @unreliablenarratorpoll @book-was-better
(also, this seems like an obvious enough concept that it might already exist, so if it does peace and love to other poll makers <3)

I also wanted to give some stats for the submissions that I found funny and or interesting...
the google form closed with a total of 181 responses, featuring 114 characters from 102 sources. of those...
the highest nominated character was none other than Kim Dokja from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, with a whopping 13 submissions to his name! in 2nd place of this category is The Stanley Parable's own Narrator, with a still brag-worthy 7.
the source with the most characters to be nominated was House of Leaves, with 4 whole narrating characters!
4 different characters were named a variant of "John" (John, Johnny, Jonny, and Jonathan), making that the most common name. John sweep 💯
the character whose name was spelled in the most ways was Nick Carraway, being identified in his six nominations as such:

the longest argument for a characters inclusion was one for Will Navidson, a miniature essay of 346 words. the largest gap between longest and shortest explanation is one again for The Narrator (TSP), with the longest being 158 words, and the shortest reading simply "Oh...you know. 🏳️🌈❓"

quick update that I'm hoping to get the bracket laid out tomorrow, and once that's done and posted I've just got to get the polls themselves all set up. hopefully won't take more than a few days, and then we can really get this thang underway 👍

i want to see the submissions so bad what if somebody said something funny in them. also the acceptance of meursault has made me feel sooo mad with power so true the sun was in his eyes
I've been considering whether I want to include people's entries in the explanation question because i think quite a few of them were interesting to read through, but a lot of them also have heavy spoilers, so I'm conflicted... maybe on the poll under a readmore? also for the ones that didn't get in there were indeed some funny honorable mentions i might dedicate a post to or something

Would it be possible for you to post the 54 you e already picked so we aren't submitting redundant ones? :0
yes but only in the form of an obnoxiously long low quality image which I'll stick under a readmore in case anyone wants to keep it a surprise

sorry for the tone i didnt do it on purpose or mean to be rude but 64 still sounds like a lot considering that unreliable narrators of certain books and novels may not be as popular as others. it would make the tournament unnecessarily long... 32 contestants sounds adequate for the nature of the tournament, and from what ive seen the submissions seem to be pretty consistent so maybe even 16 could work
i get what youre saying but... to give you some numbers here, when i first closed the form, i ended with 148 submissions and 95 unique characters. currently i have 54 characters picked out from those submissions, most of which im pretty sold on, so altogether it seems easier to try to scrounge up 10 more than to cut off 22. also a 64 bracket would run for only one more round than a 32, due to its nature. most of all though im just doing this for fun and because I want to see what kind of unreliable narrators exist in the world!
