This has been in my drafts for like 5 years (adulting 🙄) anyways enjoy if you want, I can't tell you what to do.

Chanyeol felt tears run down his cheeks. As he stared into the black reflection of the TV, he felt a surge of anger. He threw the remote he had been holding across the room, creating a dent in the wall. “I need to figure my life out. But I know that my future doesn’t include you. I need to focus on what’s important.” Baekhyun had said to him as he began gathering the few things he’d kept in Chanyeol’s dresser. 

“What do you need to figure out? We’re graduating this year and we both got accepted to Seoul University. Everything would be perfect; our lives, our stories, everything.” Chanyeol walked over to Baekhyun and took both of his hands, forcing Baekhyun to look up at the giant. 

Baekhyun was crying. How could he not? He loves this giant, stupid, sexy boy. That’s why he had to leave, so he could figure it all out and find out if he was wrong. 

Baekhyun moves close to Chanyeol, standing on his tip-toes and pressing his lips to Chanyeol’s. Chanyeol let go of Baekhyun’s hands to move them down to Baekhyun’s jean waistband. Baekhyun moves his hands up to Chanyeol’s face, cupping it and placing his fingers in the hairs on Chanyeol’s nape. A tear rolls down Baekhyun’s cheek as his lips move in a familiar way with Chanyeol’s. Chanyeol pulls Baekhyun even closer by his jean belt loops.

When Baekhyun pulls away, Chanyeol wipes his tears away with his thumb softly. Baekhyun reaches up and grasps his hand. “Don’t leave me. We both know you’re doing the wrong thing.” Chanyeol’s eyes begin to sting with hot tears. 

“I don’t know that for sure. I’m sorry. I love you. I really do. But you’re everything I am. I need to be my own person for once. When people see me, they only know me as ‘Chanyeol’s boyfriend.’ How is that fair to me? I want to be known as Baekhyun. I want to know people because I meet them, not because you know them. Please, I just need some time.”

“Fine. Just know that you’re making a mistake.” Chanyeol is infuriated, sad and scared. 

Baekhyun finally steps away from Chanyeol and releases his hands, which Chanyeol is hesitant to allow. He feels as if that is the last time he will ever hold Baekhyun again. They say nothing to each other as Baekhyun gets the rest of his belongings. Chanyeol stands up from the bed and slips his shoes on. “I love you.” he says softly before walking out the door and slamming it behind him. 

Baekhyun sobs as he grabs one of Chanyeol’s jackets and puts it into his back pack. Finally, he is out of the apartment and an empty feeling rises in his stomach. Wiping his tears, he walks away slowly, taking one last look at apartment number 65. 

Chanyeol can’t see or think straight. His mind is a mess, throbbing painfully against his skull. He know’s Baekhyun isn’t coming back. Once Baekhyun made up his mind about something, there was no talking him out of it. This revelation made Chanyeol cry harder. He laid against the headboard he’d taken Baekhyun against just hours ago. 

A picture of sweaty, writhing Baekhyun entered his mind and he tried to push the thought away. “It’s over.” he breathed. 

He looked at the clock and found himself shocked that it was already two in the morning. He shook his head and climbed under the covers, teary eyed, with his jeans and shoes still on.

Chanyeol was resting his head in his arms on his desk. His friends ignored him, knowing he would snap at them. They all knew there was no comforting him, but they didn’t bother keeping their voices down. “Can you believe it? Baekhyun cried and broke it off right after sex. Like who does that? If Luhan did that to me, I’d be worse than Chanyeol.” Xiumin, the oldest of all of them said. 

Chanyeol agreed with him. Who does that? His friends became extremely quiet. Chanyeol lifted his head to see Byun Baekhyun standing next to his desk. “Are you okay?” he asks Chanyeol. 

Chanyeol shook his head. The sight of Chanyeol made Baekhyun’s heart heavy. He felt tears begin to form, and quickly blinked them back. I’m doing the right thing he thought. Chanyeol looks like he’d been up all night, crying, yelling, and playing his drums out of frustration.

It was exactly what Chanyeol had been doing. He had too many nightmares so sleep was not an option. Usually, he would curl up against warm, fragile Baekhyun, who would then play with his hair and entangle their limbs together while Baekhyun kissed Chanyeol’s skin softly. 

“I’m sorry.” was all Baekhyun could manage to say without breaking out in sobs. 

Baekhyun had a similar night, tossing and turning for hours while crying. Their friends were watching the two with disapproval. They all knew this was not something that anyone would benefit from. 

It took everything Baekhyun had to not sit in Chanyeol’s lap, kiss him, and apologize chaotically. 

The bell rang and Baekhyun took his seat at his desk, next to Chanyeol’s. As the teacher began class, Chanyeol and Baekhyun were grateful to have something take their thoughts away from each other.
