i think the biggest example of neil's rigid worldview is his belief that retaliation for his actions will fall on him and only him. that's how his father operated, if you did something he would go after you, not your family or your friends, you. this is why neil says what he says to riko on kathy's show, he thinks riko will retaliate against him and he is prepared to deal with that. but that's not how the moriyamas work, and it takes neil a long time to understand that, even when he's told and shown repeatedly that they will punish the people around him for his actions. in his mind, they should be going after him whenever he mouths off, and it's bizarre that they don't.

I've been contemplating another neilaaron idea bc ofc I have, but in this one Aaron is a bodyguard/hitman and he's exasperated bc he's hired by Kevin to protect Neil (can you imagine how many times Neil is gonna breach their contract, like Aaron might just die from high blood pressure before anything actually gets him). Anyway, it's still kinda clunky but I can tell you more about it later bc I was supposed to clock in 3 minutes ago lol

@minyard-05 okay so, basically, this is an au where Aaron gave up on contacting/meeting Andrew after the first rejection but the car accident that kills Tilda still happens (it's just an actual accident.....or is it?)

Anyway, Aaron runs away and is eventually found by Wymack who offers him to join his hitman/bodyguard agency (they do both types of jobs, it just depends on what they're hired for). This is how Aaron ends up being hired by Kevin when he transfers to Palmetto, and his job is to protect him from Riko. Lo and behold, guess who's also at Palmetto University..... Andrew.

But all that is actually backstory stuff because the main plot starts about a year after Kevin graduates and Aaron is called to do another job for him, only that he's calling on behalf of Neil because he's literally being hunted by his father.
