So, I have an observation: I feel like a lot of cis lesbians feel like they have should have control over trans men. I see many saying things like “nooo don’t transition you’re such a pretty girl/would have made a great butch” or “detransing transmascs so lesbians can have more girls in the world!!!” And it’s really weird. And THEN they get mad when a trans man calls himself a lesbian. Like,,, isn’t that what you wanted?? Idk maybe I just visit bad circles. Has anyone else noticed this?

I don't really hold my breath for season 9. I have very mixed feelings about buddie going canon because the obvious reason.

But I BEG that they give more screen time for Karen Wilson and her brilliance outside of her children. Yes, yes, Ravi main, but how about Karen main? That woman is an icon.

i've been thinking of a way how to word this for the past hour so here it goes.

fans of an actor/public figure that showed themselves to be a piece of shit shouldn't be immediatly assumed to share the same values as those figures, or that they've just brushed everything they've said and done underneath the rug. i think, in fact, it is your moral obligation NOT to brush everything underneath the rug. in the context of the 911 fandom, if you have complained of lfj before (which i have and i'll continue to do if he posts anything like that superbowl video again) you would be an hypocrite for not holding ryan accountable and dropping him. i am saying this to my mutuals too.

i'm new to the fandom and didn't knew what he's been called out for before, so being show that as well as the fact he still acts the same way obviously hurts me. i'm trans. i'm latine and i take it personally every time someone in my community falls for the white supremacist trick of 'surely they won't throw me to the wolves too!' which is false, and as someone living in la at the present moment ryan guzman clearly fucking knows. i want to believe people can change, especially people whose art mean a lot to me BUT, there's a point that just becomes blind ignorance. if you keep giving ryan the benefit of the doubt you're at best setting yourself up to get hurt and at worst showing minorites you don't care about bigotry if it comes from a guy you like.

it can be easy to let your affection for a character bleed out into an affection for their actor, but now every public person is showing themselves to be a piece of shit it's especially important you don't fall for that. if you like eddie you don't have to defend ryan guzman to your dying breath, because he's not worth it. i like eddie diaz and i like buddie and i'll never stop liking those things -- but i can stop liking ryan, and i hope everyone else does too. HE'S NOT WORTH IT.

said that -- and i can't believe i have to add this!!! the fact ryan is racist doesn't give anyone permission to be racist to him or his character!!! someone doesn't become open season just because they're a bigot, that just makes me think you're a hypocrite and don't actually care about the things you say you do. don't send people suicide messages (especially someone who talked about trying before!!!) you weirdo! that's not activism, that's just being angry online.

Personally I don't really understand why we are so anti-solidarity these days, but I don't like it.

"I relate to your struggle because it sounds similar to my struggle, therefore I want to help you with this the way I would have wanted to be helped myself" is pretty much the baseline of allyship. For whatever reason, though, it's almost become a matter of stolen valor and stealing the spotlight, and frequently I see it rejected outright.

I just don't get it. Personally I am thrilled when someone who Isn't Like Me reaches out to share help or even just an encouragement. I don't really see it as an out group "making it about themselves" if they're just trying to say they've experienced similar and sympathize.

the thing about caring about ableism and fighting for disability rights, is that you can't center it about just your disabilities. i'm not d/Deaf. i still care whether an event has sign interpreters. i don't have photosensitive epilepsy. i still think that strobing lights are 99% of the time totally unnecessary and serve as a needless barrier to photosensitive people. i can transfer to a toilet mostly independently. i still think that public accessible bathrooms should have lifts and adult changing tables in them. you can't stop your disability activism where it stops benefitting you. that's not activism. that's selfishness
