A Rochelle-Centric Coraline AU was what i wanted to see, so i became the change i wanted to see in the world.

My extra thoughts under the cut! :D

I got super fucking invested in the idea of a Rochelle-centric Coraline AU for like, a week straight, aandd made a lot of little sketches and notes on it. I think what made the concept so appealing to me is that it would be such a spooky and intriguing character exploration of my favorite win or lose character.

Seeing how she navigates a lonely new neighborhood. How she takes up so many responsibilities all on her own, and insists upon doing so. The way she interacts and gets attached to the whimsical perfect world behind the little door.

Holding onto it as if it were the only place in her life where she can be a kid who has it easy. who gets what she wants. and who didn't have to be so entrenched in financial burden and emotional unavailability...

Warhrghghh also i just really fucking like coraline and spookiness in general :3

The broad strokes of the plot are pretty much the same as Coraline, only with a few new themes and roles introduced into the mix.

Perhaps i will share those ideas and characters to the world when i've drawn them down. I'll share them along with the Other World Counterparts of the rest of the huge cast! :D Cause boy do i HAVE ideas! i'm ready to cut open just how exactly Rochelle perceives her newfound peers in the real world, and their distorted, "perfected" button-eyed forms The Other Vanessa has sewn up for her!

I love the idea of sweaty being the snake who tempts laurie, and slightly wish that concept had been more present in her final design, so i decided to give her (and MOXIE!!! the fire spirit hallucination from friends or more, please go read it btw) some cute biblical designs of their own :']

I really enjoyed win or lose, and I love Laurie and Kai’s relationship, and the parallels in their anxiety. Also apparently their ship name is Goldilocks which I think is adorable! Anyway I decided to draw them as young adults!

how do you think Silco reacts to Powder and Ekko dating in the au? honest if I was Ekko I’d be TERRIFIED everyday of my life knowing who my gf’s parents are. I also think we need more fanfiction about this

I think Ekko is one of the few people who are safe from the "scary dads" thanks to being Benzo's kid. Also, Ekko knows how soft they really are.
