i love it when characters are codependent. i love it when losing someone feels like losing a limb. i love it when two people "complete" each other so wholly and terribly that one can barely function without the other. i love it when the fear of losing the only person who understands them is so all-consuming they'll destroy anything to stay together, including themselves.

hey so we put your morally grey character in a fandom. yeah half the fanbase makes them into a perfect angel who did nothing wrong and the other half depicts them as a cartoonishly evil villain who hurts people for fun. no we dont know how to explain that people can do bad things for good reasons or good things for bad reasons. sorry man

generational difference between people who learnt the word kin on tiktok and think it is a fun way of saying u identify somewhat with a character VS people who learnt the word kin on tumblr where people would threaten each other about kin lists because they genuinely believed they were a manifested reincarnation of karkat homestuck

I don't even know if this is crazy or not at this point, but I guess my c!Quackity take is that he's not, like… evil?

Don't get me wrong, there's a clear difference between actions and intentions, and c!Quackity's actions are by far the most abhorrent of anyone's on that server. But especially in the earlier days, I'm just not convinced by the idea that he only ever wanted Power™. I think there was a long period of his life where he genuinely cared about people and wanted the best for the world he'd come into, especially for his friends.

I think that c!Quackity is good at feeling for other people, but not great at knowing what to do with those feelings. Like, I think that on some level, El Rapids WAS partly about him trying to defend c!George's honor (even if c!George didn't particularly care). There's a level of empathy there. Sure, it was also about power, but not JUST about power. c!Quackity is deeply emotional but lacks emotional intelligence or impulse control. Even later on, it's clear that he still has compassion, it's just all become twisted into something messy that he doesn't act upon in a productive way.

Again, I'm not saying that everything he does is "for the good of the people," it clearly isn't, but I think that particular motivation is something that tends to get overlooked as a factor. In my opinion, c!Quackity is inherently kind, and trying to silence that kindness like he did for so much of his arc is the worst thing he could've done for himself.

one scene hes like "i have to go to football practice"

later hes like "we need to defeat garmadon before tennis practice later"

it just gets more and more obscure.
