the revenant queen.
Colour seeped back in a brilliant explosion as the cascade of ice shards resumed their savage storm.
"I'm leaving. When I call you, you will come. Because if you don't I will make you beg to die and I promise you," she leaned in until her lips brushed his ear. " death will be fucking heaven compared to me."
He didn't reply. The nauseating void left by her touch was debilitating. Kadaj trembled and hung his head. Whatever sense of dominance he held had fast dissipated. When the storm subsided, he knew she had disappeared. There was a sudden calm that descended upon the woods. as if mother nature herself dared not stir.

"And yet, you still look too comfortable. Let me fix that." She raised her arms towards the sky, as if grasping for the stars and a luminescent light started to emanate from her body. At first it was a soft glow pulsating until it grew so bright it was blinding.
Time stopped.
The world was doused in muted colours and the slightest of movements felt like swimming through water, easy at first until the current pushed back. She was mesmerized by the way Reality bent around her, like melting glass.  Kadaj was bowed a few feet before her, his body contorted in an effort to deflect the sudden blizzard. She knelt before him until her own face was level with his.
I am Valkyrae. I am the Epitome of Vengeance. Is that not what you seek?
And the hate renewed itself.
The voice that echoed in her head became a surge of electricity and without thought she drove her hand straight through his chest. His soul was a sticky substance, clinging to her fingers like tar. It was a texture she craved to continually experience for a Soul felt like no other. "Mm Darling, you feel so good. Almost better than when you were in bed.." Her laughter drifted into silence as the inexplicable desire to kiss him prompted her to do so. Crimson lips captured an unresponsive pale mouth but fuck did his soul taste divine.
"And now you belong to me." She licked her lips hungrily as black essence, the blood of the soul, dripped down her chin,

Her demeanor was erratic, shifting from sickeningly sweet to vicious in an instant.
"Right, stay speechless. Why should I even care?"  She smiled but her voice was laced with venom.
"Look, Skaija you don't know what happened. I -" He was starting to panic causing his words to come out in a flurry.
"I'm sure it'll be a fascinating tale to recall how you murdered me. But I already know all the details so let's skip that and talk about I'm what I'm going to do to you."
She shoved him hard enough to make him fall and stepped back.
"Maybe I should thank you for this new power you've so graciously given me. It's quite sweet you know, I can feel the world at my finger tips. Don't you want a taste?" Her voice was rapturous as she gazed at him with an eerie hunger.
The cold was vicious. It ripped at his skin and clawed ever inwards with its shards of ice and chunks of snow. Kadaj grasped for breath. The frigid air felt like one thousand needles were puncturing his lungs and the wind buffeted him so strongly he could barely move.
"My, but don't you look like you're freezing." That sweet, mocking voice cut through his agony.

Her words faded as she fixed him with a look of utmost disgust.
The silence was deafening.
The visage of pure hatred fell as Skaija looked into her murderer's eyes. They were like liquid gold with flecks of forest green. He was undeniably attractive with a sharp, straight nose and inky charcoal hair cut jaggedly at his jaw. The scruff of a beard attributed to him an air of ruggedness and coupled with the layers of leather, he seemed a dominant man.
"I used to love you Kadaj." Her soft, silky voice ruptured the still moment. Something dark danced in her grey eyes. The power continued to coil, wrapping tighter and tighter, begging her to snap and unleash it. It was seductive and invasive all at once, urging her to delight in losing control.
So she did.
"I loved you." The snow began to fall faster.
"I gave you everything."
He hadn't even realized she had moved until she was inches from his face. Luscious red lips pouted at his lack of a response.

the revenant queen.
The crystalline beauty of snow was a ceaseless wonder to her. She never knew what caused her fascination. Maybe because it added a layer of personality to whatever it touched and transformed what would be mundane into some kind of cold, untouchable majesty.
The ice-coated trees glowed in the moon-light and those not illuminated glimmered faintly in the dark. For a brief moment the elegance of nature overrode her tragedy but amidst the white wonderland, her spattered blood poisoned the scene.   There was rustling in the bushes somewhere to the left and a tall figure emerged. They froze upon seeing her. "You! How are the fuck are you alive?" The voice was male and he stuttered while trying to believe what he was seeing.
Skaija smirked. She gestured to herself dramatically as if it was comical that the woman standing in tattered pieces of silk could possibly be dead. "Me? Oh darling. You're such a fool."  She sauntered towards him, shrugging off the remains of her dress so that he bore witness to her unblemished body. "That ritual you all performed with heart-felt conviction, touching truly,  failed. You did not harness the power of Gods, no... "

the revenant queen
The pain was an infestation, creeping slowly through her veins, consuming her breath and destroying her mind. What little sanity she could still cling to was rapidly slipping away and when at last her consciousness failed it was sweet bliss. Then the dreams came and though the images were blurred, the unrestrained rage remained constant as if it had taken place of her physical duress.
The world exploded into colour as her eyes suddenly opened. Imminent confusion warped her delicate features while she tried to process what was going on. When it finally dawned on her, a cruel smile shattered her beauty into promises of revenge.
Death had been a blessing. Instead of silencing her existence she had been reborn into something greater. Skaija glanced at the infuriating dagger that had been the finishing touch to her previous life. The repeated stabbings, the touch of its blade.. the memories were insidious.
The night wore on tirelessly despite having witnessed such a horrific event. The wind had not carried on her screams as she lay dying. The world had never even changed, remaining steadfast in its disposition as she plead for her life. And yet something had answered her.
She could almost moan in ecstasy. Power tasted so fucking delicious.
