I’m gonna bc dump again!

-Front roe Ichiya is a bit distant from the other members

-Even though squid squad were his close friends they didn’t actually know much about him.

-He has a tendency of ignoring his emotions

-His charisma is superficial

-Fans find him out doing random stuff a lot of the time

-He became jaded from being worshipped for so long

-I feel like if he actually stole Now or Never it was because 1) he thought he was doing a favor for Beika by putting his song out there 2) he thought he did it better than him and did it out of spite

-Relationship with band members!!

Murasaki: Saki looked up to Ichiya a lot. Ichiya liked this because the other members knew he had a lot to learn. They would always be doing mischievous things together. Pranks and stuff. Ichiya motivated saki when he was down. He was also the first person to not treat him weird since he was an urchin(still kinda confused why the band was named squid squad maybe they had a different drummer who was a squid who left?).

Namida: He literally convinced himself that he was better music wise than her (he knew she was way more musically advanced but didn’t want to admit she was), she didn’t appreciate that…but she was scared to call his behavior out. This being because she didn’t want to start any arguments with him. When Ichiya got mad he would become a completely different person(he would probably flip the blame onto nami bc he his a pussyyy). Other than that Ichiya unconsciously found himself with a Beika replacement, sooo she basically was the person to back him up no matter what. Him and her are the closest out of the others.

Ikkan: At first they got along really well. Ichiya and him had deep conversation (mainly just ichiya talking) about music and other stuff. Ikkan saw a lot in Ichiya and wanted the best from him, but Ichiya had an ego and thought he was the shit and didn’t need to improve. Ikkan would nitpick at and Ichiya would get frustrated. Eventually it led to their big argument. Ikkan would also try to start arguments between the other members to try to get them to talk about there how they fell flat musically.

Hc? Rambling?!! Beika and Ichiya!

The whole Beika and Ichiya situation is really confusing. I wish Nintendo gave more insight on it, and especially on Ichiya’s part. We don’t get to see how things played out from his pov.

I wonder if Beika is exaggerating on his part…

The way he described him makes me wonder if Ichiya was always selfish.

I think he always was to an extent. I feel like the way Beika described how he left gave off a “I don’t really care about you”. With him also seemingly not contacting Beika after he left is messed up. Let not even talk about how he apparently stole Now or Never!

Beika most likely didn’t have any other friends besides Ichiya. Ichiya was friends with basically everyone because of his charisma.

Ichiya would make promises with beika but they were all shallow. Ichiya would hanged around Beika because he knew that Beika wouldn’t go against anything he said because Beika feared them getting into an argument. When Ichiya said he was leaving Beika finally said spoke up *big mistake*. He promised to stick by Beika’s side all this time until he knew he could get a way out.

Ichiya either got too much love as a kid or barely any. No in between. If it was the latter he must have been selfish because he feared not being loved by others. Or maybe he felt like he deserved love from others? I think he cut everyone off after he moved. Including family. He was must have been ashamed from being from the Splatlands because he hides it from the public. Something also causes him to avoid all of his issues. Instead of confronting them head on he simply ignores them. Must be afraid of criticism?

Beika was a quiet kid? Had trouble making friends. He looked up to Ichiya, but was also a bit jealous of how easily everything came to him. When Ichiya told him he was leaving he didn’t give him prior notice and just left. When Ichiya left Beika lost all hope. He always tries to act like it never bothered him even in front of Kikura and Urotora. He probably blamed himself for him leaving for a long time until his bandmates told him it wasn’t his fault.

Lmaoo went on a rant. I could talk about their friendship all day! Sorry if there are grammar errors..

• I hc Jesika as Yoko’s sister I think it would be cute she brought her sister on her journey to the splatlands!

• Yoko frequently plays with her tentacles when she is stressed or angry.

• going off of the last bullet Yoko’s tentacles are wrapped up because they get achy a lot similar situation with her fingers and how they are wrapped it that one valentines art.

• She gets jealous a lot, I can see her being silently jealous. She will have an eye on you if she’s envious of you! • When she isn’t feeling good her bandmates make her little gift packages to cheer her up! I can see them staying over and chill with her afterwards.

• Even though Karen is the emotional support of the group I feel like Yoko doesn’t want to dump all of her issues onto her so she tries to keep them to herself.

• She goes shopping with Bibi sometimes and doesn’t understand where she gets all the money to spend as much as she does.

• She has self esteem issues and feels like she doesn’t add enough to the band, everyone around her was un-knowingly putting her down with their show-off nature.

• She ended up starting to losing herself in the band and felt taking a break and reinventing herself would help her become more secure with herself. (She left the members who had the most accomplishments)

That’s all! I love Yoko I hope she has gained something moving to the splatlands, but we won’t know if that worked until the next artbook is published.

God Squid Squad really haunts the Splatbands narrative huh?

I don’t know if this is the correct way to word it but they literally raised the bar for turf war music production? Would any of the other bands even be popular without them?

Think about this: Squid Squad was the only band in Splatoon for two months before BOTH Chirpy Chips and Hightide Era were added. In context of in-universe that means both bands saw the success of these four teens and decided to follow in their tracks. Do you know what would happen if Squid Squad didn’t exist? Hightide Era and Chirpy Chips probably wouldn’t gain popularity. And by extension, none of the Splatoon 2 or 3 bands would exist.

Mizole and Beika can hate Ichiya all they want but there is a good chance that their music careers wouldn’t have lifted off the ground like they did if it weren’t for him. And they’re gonna have to admit it at some point.

Squid Sqaud was and still is so important to the music industry and no one appreciates it. Not even the own members of the band.

ok so the signatures on the splatfest teams gave me a theory(I’m up in the middle of the night going crazy)

I kind of find it strange that Ikkan is team past(bottom right corner) He’s always seemed like he’s wanted to look to the future and try new things and experiment.

But I feel like he way miss squid squad(it him late), and wished things hadn’t ended the way they did. He likely didn’t realize how my he cared for the band and the others at the time, and now he feels as if he should have appreciated what he had more. I feel like he kept this to himself because of his whole stoic personality.(He def just stares at photos of squid squad sometimes and warabi asks what’s up with him) on the other hand I front roe seems to moved on ESPECIALLY Ichiya (his signature is his stage number 001). I feel like he really wants to separate himself from his past and stick this secret identity even though everyone already knows that it’s him. I think the rest of squid squad is done with their past and want to stop worrying if things could have been different because that wasn’t going to change now. They are all worried about now because they don’t want to make the same mistakes.

Namida. Naminami. Master Namida. Mida-Chan. The Girl From Planet Namik.

I’m much more of a headcanons guy than an analysis guy, so this will probably be more “headcanons slightly based on analysis” than the other way around, sorry 😵‍💫 (however, a little while ago fishhjuice did a compiling of all the canon namida facts)

Namida likes to present herself as the most orderly and put-together member of Squid Squad, but in actuality she’s probably the strangest one. She can be quiet around strangers, but once you get her talking you’ll never get her to stop. She knows all sorts of seemingly useless facts that somehow always manage to come in handy. She has insane spice tolerance and usually finds herself adding copious amounts of hot sauce to foods she thinks are too mellow. Her lack of a complete eyemask is a mutation that she used to touch up with makeup, but later abandoned it after it started to become integral to her image. She’s willing to sing but is a bit embarrassed to, as she isn’t sure her singing voice is all that good.

Namida grew up fairly wealthy and her parents fostered her love for music at a young age, sending her to a music school where she learned piano and picked up some jazz theory. Later, she began to grow bored with the prim and proper lifestyle, and was the first member to join Squid Squad after becoming fast friends with Ichiya.

Namida is the emotional core of Squid Squad. Shes the best at talking to people and has a way with words that make it impossible to stay mad at her (even if she just did something that definitely warrants it). She’s also the most affectionate member and is responsible for the most group hugs.

Out of all her bandmates, Namida is closest with Ichiya. She was the first person he met after moving to Inkopolis, and he was pretty much the first really close friend she ever had. However, this closeness meant that during the final weeks of Sqdsqd’s lifespan, she tended to brush off how much of an ass Ichiya was being out of fear of damaging the band further. This did not turn out to be the right decision and she went on to feel a little guilty about it, wishing she could have done more. She puts up with a lot of his shit, but is willing to give him another chance come Front Roe. She’s a little worried about it all, but she has hope that it will work out. (go read my fic for more on that 😋😋😋) (shameless plug)

Namida and Murasaki are partners in crime, two chaotic-good bundles of energy. They’re pretty much the only duo who never had any ill will towards one another. The majority of Namida’s nicknames were coined by Murasaki. They lost contact with each other after the breakup but happily reunited later down the line. In Front Roe, Nami wishes that Murasaki wouldn’t be so dismissive of Ichiya nowadays, because that definitely isn’t going to fix anything. Wow, finally a pair that isn’t that complicated!

Namida always respected Ikkan for his musical prowess and considered him the funniest (even though he cracked jokes the least often). They would end up sharing the quietest moments together, making easy small talk and sometimes exchanging personal musings they wouldn’t share with the others. However, even Namida had concerns that some of his criticisms of the band were a bit too harsh, but they were all in good faith, right? So it wasn’t a big deal, right? She misses having someone to talk to where she didn’t feel a need to be the bigger person.
