Warnings!
Contains both SFW and NSFW. Polyromantic relationship, so please proceed with caution if you're uncomfortable! All characters mentioned are over 18. Mentions of fingering, p in v, poly sex. I have jack shit for knowledge of ftm people, so I referenced off of people that I know.
Tumblr media
Your size was always a factor in your relationship with Jake and Neytiri. At a standing point, your head just barely reached Jake's navel. (What with him being 9 ft and all.) You were tiny compared to the two Na'vi, either of them could just carry you around with one arm. And they did, Neytiri found the modem of travel particularly delightful, especially if she took you with her to pick the fruit from the melon trees. Jake would just carry you around to carry you, finding the way you'd squeal when he spontaneously threw you over his shoulder as absolutely hilarious.
Your size was also a factor in a... Different. Part of your relationship. When Neytiri wasn't available, Jake would set about toying with your body, thumbs rubbing over the faded top surgery scars and commenting things like "such a pretty boy", and "look at how easy it is for me to just toss you around." And he would, he would do so with fervor. He used you like a fleshlight, both hands easily wrapping around your waist, your weight being feather light. When Neytiri was available, he was a whole other beast. He would rail into Neytiri, since she was more... Built for his size, while Neytiri worked you open with her fingers until you were squealing and begging for Jake to fill you up.
If you haven't had top surgery? No matter. Jake was aware of binders. Not particularly well, but he had known women in the military that used a similar apparatus, so there wasn't much to worry about. Neytiri on the other hand, was a little more confused, unsure of what exactly the purpose was, but she was never against it. Na'vi were open to same sex marriage, transgender beings were no different, even if they were slightly less common.
When you became close, Neytiri eventually took your binder (with consent) and set to work on stitching pretty little designs and beads onto the cloth. Depictions of ikran, the flora and fauna of the forest, and various other little things. She allowed you to sit close while she did so, topless and in Jake's lap, his arms crossed securely over your chest to make you feel more comfortable.
Jake did that quite often, particularly when he would force you into taking binder breaks, after Norm explained the negative effects of wearing them too long. He was absolutely not going to allow his little Shark to get hurt. So when he deemed it time for a break, he would shuffle you off into his tent, and sit down with his arms pressed around your chest.
Thats what he called you. "Little shark." Particularly due to your constant attempts to bite at him, even though you almost always had your exomask on. The nickname heavily confused Neytiri, who had never heard of a 'shark' before. Jake did his best to explain, but the attempt was quickly futile.

After an hour or so, Y/n and Lo'ak made their way down the beach, Y/n intent of showing him one of the tide pools. She walked with a bounce in her step, the two of them chattering on about meaningless things, before she paused. She heard the jeering sound of Aonung and his group of friends, which was never a good sign. "Hold on.. Aonung is up to something." She sighed, heading down towards the water, narrowing her eyes when she saw his friend group picking on Kiri.
Lo'ak was quick to act, automatically speeding up, prepared to protect his sister. "Is he always like this?" He asked, causing Y/n to chuckle. "More or less." she nods, her ears tilting back when she saw one of the boys grabbing at Kiri's tail. The two ran over, Lo'ak shoving Aonung away, while Y/n took Kiri's arm to pull her off to the side.
"Back off, fishlips." Lo'ak ordered, his tail flicking around in an aggravated manner. One of the boys squared up against him, Neteyam soon running over, having overheard the commotion. He shoved himself in between Lo'ak and the boy, glaring at Aonung. "He said back off." He reiterates, poking his finger at Aonung's chest. One of the boys hissed, Neteyam not even bothering to return it. "From now on. I need you to respect my sister." Neteyam states, before turning to Kiri. "Come on." He nods, moving to walk away. Y/n moved to follow, gently tugging on Lo'ak's arm. "Lets go." She nods, and Lo'ak reluctantly moved to follow.
"Buh-bye~" One of the boys taunted, Aonung shaking his head as they regrouped. "Look at them. Theyre all freaks, the whole family." He scoffed, though his voice was quiet, it was still audible to the rest of them. Y/n continued to walk, but stopped when Lo'ak pulled his arm away, the boy starting to head towards back towards the group. "Lo'ak.. Lets just go." Y/n sighed, already having the feeling that a fight would occur. "Lo'ak." Neteyam called, his voice stern and sharp. "Don't worry bro. I've got this." Lo'ak nods, heading towards the group of teal skinned teens.
Aonung was quick to turn to face Lo'ak, looking him over with a jeering sort of expression. "Look..." Lo'ak says, holding his hand up, wiggling all five fingers. "I know this hand is funny, but I can do something really cool with it." He nods, Y/n, Neteyam, and Kiri all standing by and watching intensely just in case something would inevitably occur. "First... I ball it up real tight, like this," He sighed, Aonung completely focused on his hand. "And then,"
With that, he drew his fist back, and delivered a heavy punch straight to Aonung's nose, knocking the older boy down onto his butt, blood from his nose dripping down his upper lip, looking up at Lo'ak with a shocked sort of expression. "It's called a punch, bitch." Lo'ak seethed, Aonung remaining deadly still. The sudden attack caused sharp gasps to leave Y/n and Kiri, the two girls held onto each other's arms, while Neteyam gave an exasperated laugh, and started heading towards the group.
Aonung was quick to throw himself at Lo'ak, knocking him down and throwing a heavy punch to his face, Neteyam dragging Aonung off of him. Almost immediately, the rest of the friend group had joined in, causing cries of "Ow! My tail!", " Let go of my ears!", and "Ach- Let go of my hair!" to sound out relatively frequently. One of the boys delivered a slap with the flat of their tails, with made Y/n and Kiri laugh simultaneously. "This is so stupid!" Kiri groans, shaking her head as she giggled.
The fight proceeded for maybe five minutes, before both Jake and Tonowari had arrived, prying their sons off of each other. All of the boys were heavily bruised, some more than others. Ronal quickly hustled over, taking Y/n by the arm. "My sweet girl, are you okay?" She fussed, cupping her daughters face in her hands. "Yes mother, I'm fine. Aonung and his friends were harassing Kiri." She sighed, nodding to Kiri. Ronal looked towards the older girl, her ears tilted back with a slight look of guilt. "I apologize on behalf of my son, he should no better and I will be sure to have him apologize." She huffs, before standing and walking towards her mate, who was speaking sternly to his son. Jake had already drug off his sons, and Y/n couldn't help but hope that they wouldn't be in too much trouble.
She gave a soft sigh, before looking up to Kiri, cocking her head slightly to the left. "Want to come to our hut and make jewelry, while the boys get in trouble?" Y/n suggested, and a smile broke across Kiri's face. "Sure," she nods. Kiri had always been fond of making jewelry, she had learned the craft from her grandmother, and had taught Tuk. "Can we bring Tuk?" Kiri asked, and Y/n gave a happy nod. "Of course"
After the two girls had gathered Tuk, (who had been feeding the Ilu with Tsireya) they headed off through the village and to Y/n's family's hut. It was set in the center of the village, larger than most, but still reasonably sized. There were dividers that were fashioned as rooms, but they had an open wall rather than doors. There were four rooms in total, surrounding the center living area, the canopy currently empty.
Y/n lead the two girls into her room, which was situated in between Tsireya and Aonung's rooms. Her room was neat, the leather-like walls painted with blue, purple, pink, and green paints, much like Tsireya's room that was on the other end. She walked into the room, parting the beaded curtain that covered the open wall to let the girls walk in.
Her bed was a mat, much like the rest of the village, small boxes and trunks lining one wall, her clothes hanging over a makeshift bar above them. The walls held small windows, that had flaps that could be closed for privacy, though they were currently open. She sat on the floor, next to her bed, and took out the boxes of jewelry and the tools to make them.
Kiri and Tuk settled around her, Tuk practically vibrating as she was so excited to try her hand st jewelry making. Y/n set the boxes in a neat circle in the middle of them, taking out plates, needles, threads, beads, jewels, and wire, neatly organizing them, before waving at the girls to start.
Kiri picked up some earth toned beads, while Tuk attempted to grab the most vibrant ones that she could find. "What's your Ilu's name?" Tuk inquired, with her usual cheery tone as she looked up from her plate of beads. "My ilu? Her name is Onzä." Y/n smiles, beginning to work on some waist beads. "I fed her earlier, with Tsierya." Tuk chimed, before leaning a little closer to Y/n "I like you better than her." She whispered, earning a jokingly shocked gasp from Kiri, and a laugh from Y/n. "Tuk. We don't pick favorites." Kiri scolded, though she was clearly joking, which made Tuk roll her eyes with a laugh. "Like you like Spider more than Lo'ak and Neteyam." Tuk teased.
"Spider?" Y/n asked, wondering why a Na'vi would be called that. "He's a human. We grew up with him...well he grew up with us. He's like our brother, only mom doesn't like him because he's one of the sky people." Kiri shrugged, causing Y/n to grow curious. "Why's his name spider?" She asked, and Kiri couldn't help but laugh. "Well... It really started out by my dad and the scientists calling him 'Spider Monkey' when he was really little, but Spider stuck." Kiri explained, seemingly fashioning a necklace, while Tuk worked on... Whatever she was working on.
The girls chatted and made their jewelry, eventually parting ways when the afternoon light began to dim. The day slowly came to an end, Tsireya and Y/n settling in the living area of the canopy to do their hair, eventually roping in Aonung. "Hey Y/n?" Aonung piped up, Y/n having been redoing his braids. "Hm?" She hummed, Tsireya curiously poking her head over Y/n's shoulder to eavesdrop as she worked on finger coiling Y/n's hair. "What do you think of Lo'ak?" He asked, Ronal even popping up from her west st the fireplace, trying to listen for her response. "I think he's nice. And I think that you should apologize to him for beating him up. That wasn't a fair fight." She sighed, continuing to busy herself with his braids.
"Why should I apologize? He threw the first punch." Aonung huffs, causing Y/n to roll her eyes, tightening one of the braids enough for him to audibly wince. "Because it wasn't a fair fight, he only had his brother with him. You had Rotxo and your other two friends. Two versus four is in no way fair." She sighed, loosening the braid before getting back to work. Aonung simply rolled his eyes, grumbling under his breath. "You're too good for that freak." The comment took Y/n aback slightly, staring at the back of his head, before shaking her head. "You don't know what you're talking about, 'nung. We just met. Now hush before I put shells in your hair." She grumbled in response.
Ronal on the other hand, watched the exchange from her seat next to the fire, having been nibbling on a rwap, narrowing her eyes softly. None of them were aware of Lo'ak, who had been standing next to the main opening of the canopy, listening in to the conversation, having only been there to apologize, due to his fathers orders.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Y/n headed out to do her chores. Her task for the day was to harvest the Yovo fruit, and the fruit of the melon tree. It was a relatively easy task, Tsireya helping her so the girls could hoist each other up to reach the melon. They gathered the fruits, carrying them in woven satchels and baskets. When they finished, they set out on delivering the fruit, a certain amount to each family, and any extras would be given to those that requested it. Y/n walked up the pathway, walking up to the Sully's hut. She poked her head into the main opening, smiling when she saw Neytiri and Jake. "Fruit delivery!" She chimed, walking into the hut to hand the fruit to Neytiri, who took it with a smile. "Oh, thank you. What for?" Jake inquired, looking up from the wooden figure that he had been whittling. "Every day we go pick fruit from the grove and hand them out to the village. Aonung and the boys will be out fishing this afternoon, so they'll return with fish tonight. My father invited you and your children to learn to ride the ilu and the tsurak."
She smiled, Neytiri setting the melon and fruit down next to their dishes. "Go without me, Ma'Jake. I'm going to finish unpacking." she smiled, and Jake rose to his feet, walking over to Y/n. She then began to head out of the canopy, Jake following suit. "I want to apologize for my son's behavior." Jake nodded, and Y/n simply rolled her eyes. "It's fine, my brother had it coming." She sighed, walking down the pathways and towards the beach.
She walked down the sand, laughing softly at how Jake walked, the hot sand burning his feet. "You'll grow used to it with time." She nods. The soles of her feet had grown immune to the burning sand, that was just part of being Metkayina. She smiled as Jake skurried off towards the water, panting softly when the warm water cooled his feet. She didn't expect the hot sand to break his warrior-esque physique, but she understood it. She doubted the ground was very hot in the forest. She walked towards Aonung, who had already gathered Lo'ak, Kiri, and Tuk. "You may choose to ride the ilu, or the tsurak." She hums, looking to Jake, who was already staring at the tsurak that settled next to her father, just a few feet away. "That one." He nods.
His answer didn't surprise her, she fully expected him to be drawn towards the large beast. He managed to tame Toruk after all. She gestured towards her father, who Jake proceeded to walk over to. Y/n then walked towards Aonung, giving a soft nod. "We're free to proceed." She nods, Aonung looking over Lo'ak, as Tsireya came and retrieved Kiri and Tuk to go teach in the deeper water. Lo'ak seemed slightly nervous, deep bruises and splits scattering his face, but the deep bruise that sat on Aonung's cheekbone was much more prominent, left from Lo'ak's left hook.
Aonung took a step back, clicking his tongue and whistling, two ilu swimming up to swim around him, Y/n reaching her hand out to stop one. "These are ilu." Aonung spoke, running his hand over the back of his ilu. "If you want to stay here, you must learn to ride." He nods. Y/n cocking her head. "They're similar to Ikran.. But since you're in water, the water will try to push you off of him." She nods, guiding the ilu over to Lo'ak, who was quick to mount him (with a little struggle since he wasn't used to mounting in water). She gently picked up one of the ilu's queues, Lo'ak pulling his own braid around. "Make the bond gently." Y/n breathed, Lo'ak connecting their queues as gently as he could, though the ilu still reacted uneasily, unfamiliar with the new rider. "Hold on here. Tightly." She nods, pointing to the handle that was situated between the ilu's queues. "Feel his heartbeat, his strength. Feel his breath" She instructs, Lo'ak closing his eyes and took a breath, feeling the ilu's breath beneath him.
Lo'ak internally told the ilu to swim forward, the ilu heeding the command and lurching forward. He immediately went under, knocking Lo'ak off of the beast in record time. When he bobbed back up to the surface, the ilu didn't hesitate in splashing the boy with his fin, before swimming back to Aonung, who was laughing so hard that his ribs hurt, Y/n even trying not to giggle softly.
Tumblr media
The rest of the morning was spent in the water, everyone doing their best to get the Sully's acquainted with their water mounts. When the afternoon sun began to rise, Y/n parted ways while Aonung left to go fishing, leaving her unaware that he had decided to coax Lo'ak into going with him. Y/n had gone to go help teach the children of the village some of their traditional dances. The group of children who were no older than six, were very eager to learn. This was her favorite thing to do, teaching the little ones their tradition while Ronal watched from the side with a soft smile, she couldn't be any more proud of her daughter.
She walked the children through the steps, how to move their hips properly and where to place their feet, all the while singing the soft song that accompanied the dance, her voice flowing out across the beach, catching the attention of Neytiri. It was clear that Neytiri didn't feel at home, she missed the forest and her people, but the sudden show of tradition made her smile. She quietly walked up to stand next to Ronal, giving a soft smile.
Before Y/n knew it, a small crowd had gathered, too focused on the kids to pay attention. Neytiri, Neteyam, and a group of Metkayina parents stood nearby to watch, some of the older kids joining in on the dance lesson. Soon Neytiri even pushed Neyetam into the lesson, Y/n smiling when she saw him. The lesson lasted until eclipse had begun, the group soon scattering. Neytiri headed on back to her hut, while Neyetam walked down the beach.
All was right with the world, at least that's what Y/n thought as she began to walk back to her families hut, pausing when she saw Aonung, settled in front of the fire pit that sat in the middle of the living area. She could already tell that he had done something. "How did fishing go, Aonung?" She asked, walking behind him, moving to stand next to him, her ears twitching slightly at the crackling fire.
"Fine..." He murmurs, staring at the slow burning fire. She knew his expression well, he had done something drastic with the intent of it being a joke, and finally realized that it was a bad idea. "What did you do? Did you get in another fight?" She sighed, kneeling down next to him in an attempt to read his expression. He was her older brother, he had a soft spot for her and Tsireya, so she was sure he'd tell her. "No.. We decided to take Lo'ak fishing with us... Beyond the reef."
Her heart dropped into her stomach as soon as he spoke Lo'ak's name, her eyes widening slightly. "You know your not supposed to take them beyond the reef Aonung. What happened. Do his parents know?" She inquired, her voice low and terrifyingly steady. "I know.. He went to catch a fish, and we left him. No.. I don't think so... It was supposed to be a joke" He sighed, his ears pinned back against his head, causing her eyes to widen.
"Aonung." She seethed, her voice harsh as she pushed him over onto his side. "You left him?! Where?" She ordered, immediately rising to her feet. They had left at least six hours prior, that's six hours in the middle of the ocean with no food or clean water, surrounded by beasts that could eat anyone in one bite. "Three brothers..." He mumbles, slowly attempting to stand back up, but it only resulted in her pushing him back down. "Aonung. What are the rocks notable for? " She asked, with a horrified expression. That was clearly not something he had thought about, Aonung's eyes widening as realization hit, and equally terrified expression crossing his face. "Akula." He mutters, quickly scrambling to his feet, fully prepared to run in case his sister decided to throw a blow, which she did.
She delivered a heavy smack to the back of his head, causing him to hiss in pain. "Go tell his family. Now. Get a search party together. Skxawng." She seethed, walking around him and out onto the pathway, calling for her ilu, who was quick to swim up. "What are you doing?" He asked, pausing to watch her. "I'm going to go look for him, someone has to." She huffs, causing his fear stricken expression to grow more severe. "Just wait until we get a search party, or take Rotxo." He spoke, moving in an attempt to grab her arm and stop her from diving into the water, but he was too late. "Go tell his family." She hissed, diving into the water and mounting her ilu, before the two swam off.
It was a long swim, her ilu clicking in protest when they finally reached the rocks, calling out for Lo'ak, her heart pounding against her ribcage. She called for him for about ten minutes, her sense of dread growing more and more with each passing second, unable to stop the small tears that dribbled over her eyelashes, totally unaware of the sudden grow in bioluminescence underneath her. Suddenly, both her and her ilu had been thrown into the air, the unmistakable groan of the nalutsa beneath her, causing her to panic.
She came crashing back down into the water as her ilu attempted to swim away, but ended up getting caught in the jaws of the giant beast, her blood soaking into the water, turning it a deep blooming shade of crimson. She swallowed a good bit of water as she screamed, bobbing back up to the surface as she coughed, her scream drawing attention to her.
She dipped back underneath the water, her eyes widening as the creature charged at her, swimming as fast as she could towards the rocks, hoping to get to some sort of high ground. She could tell that the nalutsa was only moments behind her, she could feel the water change as he snapped his jaws.
She finally managed to get to the rock, climbing it as fast as she could, the sharp stones slicing up her legs and torso, her fingertips becoming bloody as she pulled herself up, choking on the sobs that wracked their way through her body, crying even harder as the monster began repeatedly ramming it's head into the rock, only becoming more and more agitated as he blood spilled down the rock and into the water. She couldn't stop the terrified cries that left her mouth, clinging to the base of the stone.
After what felt like hours, the beast grew tired of his attempts, slowly swimming off in an aggravated manner, leaving her alone on the stone, scared, cold, and bleeding.
Tumblr media
Lo'ak had heard her distant screams, having been sitting on Payakan's back waiting for rescue. His ears perked up, and his head snapped up, immediately sliding down to stand on one of Payakan's fins. "Bro, go to the rocks, someone needs help." He spoke, making an attempt to sign it as Payakan gave a reassuring call, waiting for Lo'ak to get a good enough hold on him before swimming towards the rocks.
There she was, clinging to the rock as the nalutsa repeatedly slammed it's head into the stone, trying to knock her loose so she would fall into the water. Rocks and debris fell around her, her chest heaving as she tried to breathe, coughing up the water that had fallen into her lungs. That was when Lo'ak realized just how much she was bleeding, the rock beneath her staining crimson. Right as he was about to tell Payakan to attack the beast, it grew agitated and swam off, watching as Y/n slumped against the stone. He immediately shooed Payakan off, with the promise of returning at some later point, swimming off towards the rocks as Payakan swam down, but lingered close just in case.
"Hey, hey hey." Lo'ak called, pulling himself up onto the rocks, doing so a little more successfully, only resulting in a few light scratches. She was audibly sobbing, her eyelashes all clumped together with saltwater and tears, her body smeared with blood, and her jewelry ruined. She opened her eyes and looked towards him, Lo'ak moving over to her so he could lift her up off of the rock. "That's a lot of blood..." He murmurs, looking over her pale face, Y/n only seeming to cry harder. "No, no! Don't cry it's okay. You're okay." He nods, worried tears beginning to prick at his own eyes, pulling her across his body, doing everything he could to both keep her off of the rock and out of the water, the sharp stone stabbing into his feet.
Lo'ak tried to keep himself calm, but he was the exact opposite, his breath trembled and his hands shook. He didn't know what to do, neither of them did. They were just scared kids.
Tumblr media
Lo'ak held her for what felt like hours, screaming for help until his voice was broken. Y/n had long since passed out, the dead weight growing more and more difficult for him to hold onto. She was still breathing, but not at a normal rate, her breaths were shallow and quiet. Soon the weight became too much to handle, already exhausted from overexerting himself previously, so he slowly had to allow her to slip into the water, wrapping her arms around his neck as he held her head up, his body bobbing as he tried to keep his own head above water. They sat like that for a few long moments, their movements disturbing the water, causing bioluminescence to bloom, Y/n's blood staining the water.
Finally, he heard the sounds of a search party calling for them. The sound was so shocking that they both ended up going under, Lo'ak frantically pulling them up. "Hey! Hey over here! We need help!" He shouts, bobbing under once more, spitting out the water that had flooded his mouth.
Soon enough, the group made their way towards them, pulling Y/n up onto one of the rider's tsurak first, since she was in a far worse state, before pulling Lo'ak up onto another. The tsurak skimmed over the water as fast as they could, by the order of their riders. Y/n's eyes slipped open once every so often, just long enough to see the stars and the sky above them, before slipping back into unconsciousness.
When they group finally arrived to the village, the villagers were quick to alert everyone to their return. Jake and Neytiri ran down to the dock, Neytiri immediately fussing over her son, and Jake checking for any severe damage. He stopped however, when his eyes fell on Y/n. Ronal was quick to arrive, Tonowari close behind, and Aonung being drug along by his arm.
Ronal gave a wail when the villager hauled Y/n's limp unconscious body up onto the dock, Tonowari immediately taking his daughter from the man. Tsireya stood next to Aonung, all dewey eyed at the sight of her sister. Jake immediately bowed his head. "I apologize for my son, he knows better." Jake nods, his expression slightly frantic at the sight of their daughter.
"No. Aonung is to blame, he knows not to take them beyond the reef." Tonowari hissed, pushing his son down to bow on his knees. Lo'ak shook his head, taking a step forward. "It was my fault, I wanted to go." He nods. Tonowari didn't say anything after that, too busy ensuring that his daughter would make it back to their hut, Lo'ak grimacing at the trail of blood droplets that followed them.
Lo'ak moved to follow after them, though Jake tried to grab his arm to stop him, Lo'ak only pulling his arm away. "I'm going. I have to tell them what happened." He murmurs, before walking after them.
Tumblr media
Tonowari laid Y/n down on the mat that Ronal had put in the living area, Aonung hovering next to the canopy opening while Tsireya moved to hold onto her sister's hand. Lo'ak quickly walked in, but paused by the opening. "Excuse me?" He murmurs, Tonowari looking towards him with a less than gentle look. His main priority right now was his daughter, who was still steadily bleeding. Not the scrawny little forest boy that was the whole reason she was even hurt.
"Dad..." Tsireya murmurs, placing a hand on her father's arm. "He saved her. Listen to him." She sighs, before moving to help her mother, who was setting to work on patching up and cleaning the cuts and gashes that covered her color drained frame. Lo'ak's ears tilted back at the expression Tonowari wore, his usually gentle demeanor having dissolved as soon as he caught sight of her limp frame.
"I'm sorry sir, I just wanted to tell you what happened." Lo'ak murmurs, and Tonowari waved him over, allowing the teenager to kneel next to him. "I think she came out to look for me, out at the Three Brothers. The nalutsa attacked her sir. Ate her ilu and chased her, I got there and it was ramming it's head into the rock she climbed on, trying to knock her down. The rock cut her up sir." He nods, Ronal and Tsireya listening quietly, each of them making a face of pain when they heard that her ilu hadn't survived the encounter.
Ronal continued cleaning and patching up the wounds, but dropped everything when she saw her hand move, the slight movement being a writhe of pain. Tsireya winced, Y/n constricting her hand to the point that she felt that she might snap her fingers. She wasn't awake yet, but she was clearly coming out of it. Tsireya let go of her hand, rubbing at her fingers to alleviate the ache, so Lo'ak slowly moved to hold her hand, not failing to notice how Ronal tensed up.
A few long and painful moments passed, before Y/n's eyes slowly fluttered open. She was dazed and confused for a few seconds, before the pain and fear set in, causing tears to well up in her eyes and a choked up sob to fall from her mouth. Ronal immediately softened when she saw that her daughter was awake, immediately moving to soothingly rub her shoulder. "Shhhh, my baby. Almost done, stay strong." Ronal murmurs, finishing up with her patching, before moving to grab a cup of some hot fluid. A tea, made of a heavy concoction of ar'lek seeds, and the fluid of a panopyra. She brought the tea to her crying daughters mouth, allowing her to take a few drinks of it.
With that, Ronal stood, looking to her husband and nodding towards the canopy opening, a movement that meant 'we need to talk.' Tonowari was quick to walk out, Ronal following her, Aonung soon being called out to talk with them, likely getting scolded.
Y/n clung to Lo'ak's hand, Tsireya soon walking out to leave the two alone, after whispering something into his ear, which caused his ears to tilt back and his cheeks to flush a shade of purple. He looked down to Y/n, who seemingly relaxed as the medicine kicked in, looking up to Lo'ak, who turned to look back down to her. "Feeling better?" He murmurs, and she gave a soft nod. Lo'ak nods in response, brushing her hair out of her face, tilting his body downwards so he could rest his forehead onto hers. "I thought I lost you." He murmurs, his voice cracking slightly. Nothing like a near death experience to make you realize how much you actually care for someone.
"I thought you were dead..." She murmurs, her voice hoarse and barely a whisper, tilting her forehead to meet his. Her eyes were still wet with tears, her eyelashes clumped together as the tears formed little droplets on her lower eyelids. "I know, but we're okay." He murmurs, giving a soft nod.
"We're okay."

WARNINGS/NOTICES/INFO:
In this fic, Y/N is Tsireya and Aonung's sister. It's a common trope I know, but it's the easiest route instead of just removing Tsireya all together, we need her for drama.
Long movie scene from paragraphs 9-19. Few mentions of Y/N, so skip to paragraph 20 if you don't want to read it all.
After the main meeting scene, the scenes will be a little out of order movie wise, but nothing detrimental. This is freeform writing!

When you are young, they all assume you know nothing. Like a small fish swimming its way through warm waters, blissfully unaware of the predator that's only a blink away from taking the fish into its maw.
That is a lesson that all young Na'vi must learn. Every clan teaches it differently, but the lesson always is structured in the same manner. Respect Eywa, the life around you, and your community; fill your chosen role, use your head, and be careful. It is a simple teaching, yet it is fundamental, and vital to every Na'vi's upbringing, for if you disrespect Eywa, she will show you no mercy.

Y/N sat at the bottom of the deep tide pool with her eyes closed, listening to the surrounding sounds of the waves lapping at the edges of stone, the distant clicking and chirping of the ilu, and the distant bone chilling bellow of the Nalutsa. She did this often, taking comfort in the underwater noises, her hair flowing around her shoulders as the water shifted with the wind. The pool was just deep enough for her to be fully submerged, with maybe a foot of water above her head.
She had been there for maybe ten minutes, taking time to relax after she had finished her chores, but another sound disturbed her peace. She heard the deep call of a horn, muffled by the water. One her people only used for alerts, nothing serious, but it provided a sense of caution. Her eyes opened, blinking a few times so her set of vertical eyelids could keep them comfortable when the cool water hit her pupils.
She slowly stood, rising from the water as she walked out of the pool, smiling softly at the comforting feel of the wet sand underneath her feet. Y/n took a breath when she came in contact with the air, brushing her hair out of her face before wiping the water from underneath her eyes, looking towards the gathering crowd.
Aonung waved over to her, prompting Y/N to walk over to him. He pointed up to the water, her eyes following his hand. "Look" he spoke, and Y/N looked up. She narrowed her eyes as the group of Ikran soared over the tide pools that lined the reef, clearly heading towards the beach. "What are they doing here?" She mumbles, before her eyes widened when she noticed that the Ikran had riders.
"I don't know. We need to gather the ilu, make sure they're away from the pools." Aonung spoke, causing Y/N to roll her eyes internally, but she could agree. This was a little unnerving, outsiders never came to them unless it was serious. She gave a soft nod, walking back towards the water, before pausing. "Where is 'reya?" She queried, looking back towards her brother. "Shes helping Omat with her babies, they're practicing their swimming." Y/N nods in response, before wading into the water, about waist deep. She began clicking her tongue, trilling a few times, Aonung following in a similar fashion. Y/N couldn't help but smile as the ilu began to swim around them, chirping and squealing, while blowing puffs of playful air their way.
The duo sent the group of ilu off towards the village so they could swim and play under the huts, ensuring that they were kept out of harm's way. Y/N gave a soft sigh, before looking up as the Ikran flew overhead, watching them settle nearby just long enough for their riders to slide off their backs.
She and Aonung looked at each other, before walking out of the water and towards their parents, curiously eyeing the strangers. Tsireya was quick to follow behind them, the sisters smiling at each other before making their way towards the group. Aonung couldn't help but circle around the family, Rotxo in his wake, the two boys snickering between themselves when they noticed their thin tails, mocking them out loud. Y/N gave them a quick scolding, the boys falling back into line, not ready to suffer their sister's wrath.
Y/N however, was eyeing one of the boys, her ears twitching slightly at the calls and whistles the Metkayina made as they called their families over. The boy was smaller than the other two, though not by much so she assumed he was the youngest son. He had golden eyes and wore a concerned but lighthearted expression, his hairstyle seemingly a blend of his mother and father's. The boy looked to the girls, and gave a slightly sheepish wave. "Hey" he nods. It was a weak attempt to lighten the thick atmosphere, but it made the sisters giggle, looking to each other with a look that could only mean 'Hes cute'. Their giggling little moment was disturbed by Tonowari clearing his throat, Ronal walking up to stand behind him. They exchanged a quick greeting, as was customary, the entire family participating.
"Why do you come to us, Jakesully?" Tonowari asked, peaking Y/N's interest as she looked back towards the group, smiling and giving a soft wave to the little girl that clutched onto her mother's hand.
"We seek Uturu" Jake spoke, Ronal giving an incredulous scoff. "Uturu?" She exclaimed, as if the mere prospect of the statement was unbelievable. "Yes, sanctuary for my family" He replied, and y/n could only wonder what that implied.
"We are reef people, you are forest people. Your skills would mean nothing here" Tonowari explained, his demeanor calm and reasonable. Ronal on the other hand, walked around the group, her expression one of pure territorialism. "We will learn your ways" Jake nods.
Ronal grabbed at the mothers tail, observing it's thin nature, before walking around her and grabbing the little girl's arm, pulling it out to it's full extension. "Their arms are thin, their tails are weak." She spoke, yanking on the oldest daughter's tail. "You will be slow in the water." She scrutinized, before looking down to the girl's hand, counting her fingers before holding her hands up for the clan to see. "These children are not even true Na'Vi!" She exclaimed, producing gasps and concerned sounds from the crowd.
"Yes we are!" The girl exclaimed as Ronal walked away from her, and back around the group, grabbing the younger boy's hand, spreading out his hand to display the extra finger. "They have demon blood!" She announced, the crowd quickly growing more agitated. Y/N tightened her grip on Tsireya's hand, her sister seemingly equally as anxious.
"Look! Look." Jake exclaimed, holding out his hands, the extra digit equally as prominent. "I was born of the sky people but now I am Na'Vi. A'right? We can adapt" He tried to reason. Tonowari would have accepted them by now, but Ronal was protective of her family, of her people. Y/n loved her mother but sometimes she could be a little overbearing. She found this situation reasonable after all, she was pregnant.
The mother walked around Jake, an expression of equal territorialism on her face. "My husband was Toruk Makto" she spoke, and y/n couldn't help but notice the slight grimace that came across Jake's face. "He lead the clans to victory against the sky people. " Neytiri nodded, looking to Tonowari who quickly looked away; this wasn't his place. "You call this victory? Hiding among strangers?" Ronal snarled. "It seems Eywa has turned her back on you. Chosen one." She challenged, looking to Jake as Neytiri stepped forward, giving a low hiss that Ronal returned. Both of the men seemed offput by the situation, looking at each other as if they were playing a mental game of rock paper scissors, trying to decide on who would step in.
Jake decided to step in first, stepping in between his wife and putting up a surrendering hand. "I apologize for my mate-" Neytiri interrupts him with an annoyed expression. "Do not apologize for me." She seethes, and Jake simply steps further in between the two women. "She has flown a long way, and she is exhausted." He reasons, Neytiri tried to interrupt him once more, but he gave her a stern look instead, so she backed off.
Tonowari took that as his sign to step in, taking a step forward and placing a hand on Jake's upper back. "Toruk Makto is a great war leader, all Na'Vi people know his story. But Metkayina are... Not at war." he nods. Y/n couldn't help but smile when the little girl asked to be picked up, her dad complying and holding her close to his chest. "We cannot let you bring your war here." Tonowari sighed, looking back down to Jake.
Jake shook his head, his hand firmly placed on the little girl's back. "I'm done with war. Okay? I just want to keep my family safe." he nods, causing Tonowari to sigh. He looked to Ronal, the two looking between each other as if they were having an unspoken conversation. After a few painfully long moments, Ronal gave a small nod.
Tonowari nodded in return, and looked up to address the clan. "Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea... So they will be like babies, taking their first breath. Teach them our ways, so they do not suffer the shame of being useless." He spoke, clearly so the crowd could hear.
Jake gave a greatful nod, each member of the family giving their thanks. "My son Aonung, and my daughters Tsireya and Y/n, will teach your children. " Tonowari nods, and Aonung immediately rose to object. "Father why do i-" Tonowari cut him off with a scolding look. "It is decided." He ordered, causing Aonung to roll his eyes in a defeated manner.
Y/n and Tsireya looked between each other, giving wide smiles and soft giggles before stepping forward, towards the family. "Come! We will show you our village." Y/n beams, Tsireya next to her with an equally happy smile. The girls were twins, but they definitely weren't identical. Y/N was slightly taller than Tsireya, her clothes adorned with jewels and a spattering of shells and beads, she also seemed to have a little bit more of an attitude than Tsireya, who was more gentle.
Once the family had gathered, and Y/n and Tsireya had gathered the necessities the family needed like sleep mats and bowls and such, they made their way to one of the empty huts, making sure it was large enough to fit the whole family. Y/n followed after Tsireya, laughing softly at the little girl, who seemed very interested in the ilu, while simultaneously pretending that the woven floors were trampolines, bouncing along while exclaiming "Yup, yup, yup!" as she went.
Y/n didn't fail to notice the set of eyes that were boring into the back of her head, causing her to smile. When they made it to the hut, Jake seemed comfortable with the place, Neytiri on the other hand unenthusiastically dropped the mat to the ground which caused Y/n's ears to tilt back, worried that she didn't like the hut.
She knew better than to ask however, setting the bag that she was carrying down against one of the columns. She then cleared her throat, running her thumb over the heads on her necklace. "Alright, if it's okay with you Mrs. Sully, I can take everyone to the water when you finish unpacking" She nods with a smile, looking towards the forlorn looking woman, who gave a simple nod.
Y/n gave a smile, and promised that she would return soon, before walking out onto the pathway. She looked down at the water, clicking her tongue and trilling a few times as her ilu swam in front of her. Y/n smiled once more, gracefully diving into the water, running her hands over her ilu's neck, before grabbing into the handle that was bound between her queues. She spoke a few quiet words, before bonding their queues, smiling as she felt the gentle thump of the ilu's heartbeat, and the happy emotions she was feeling. After a few brief moments, the two swam off, completely unaware of Lo'ak's eyes that seemed to be focused on her.
Tumblr media
Lo'ak never really thought of himself as a romantic. He thought the prospect of settling down was boring, he would much rather be flying or hunting.
Neteyam was much more suited for the family life, at least that's what Lo'ak thought. His older brother was perfect, the perfect soldier, born without the extra fingers and toes, it was plain to see why their dad favored the older boy.
Lo'ak was adventurous, rebellious, and problematic, everything Neteyam wasn't. He despised that, Lo'ak got all of his dads qualities while Neteyam got the good of both parents. That thought always made him turn sour, Neytiri blamed it on being fourteen, but Lo'ak didn't think so. He had always been the trouble maker.
Tumblr media
Lo'ak had no qualms with helping his mother unpack, eager to get out and see the water, and even more so, to see the twins. He didn't know why he was so drawn to them, and he couldn't decide who he liked more. He could tell that Neteyam was catching on, grinning as he watched Lo'ak practically run around the hut, trying to get everything put up in record time.
Jake didn't fail to notice either, stopping Lo'ak by placing an arm in front of his chest while he was running, nearly clotheslining the poor kid. "Hold on, boy. Why are you so eager? You hate cleaning." Jake chuckles, looking down at his youngest son, who stared up at him like a deer caught in headlights. "I just uh... I want to go swim." Lo'ak responds, the lie as obvious as can be.
Tuk, being the mischievous little girl that she is, idly walked by, on her way to go look out of the canopy. "He wants to go see the twins~" She chimed, her teasing tone heavy and obvious, causing Lo'ak's ears to tilt back, and an embarrassed purple flush appeared on his cheeks, causing Jake to grin. He pat his son on the shoulder, a proud look on his face. "Go get em, boy." He nods. Who would have thought that this is what it took for Jake to be proud.
Lo'ak gave a nod, and a sheepish smile, taking a step towards the doorway of the canopy. "Thank you, sir." He nods, before walking out onto the pathway. The rest of the kids quickly dropped everything, eager to follow, but Jake stopped them. "Hold on! There's still more to do." he reasoned, but Kiri shook her head. "Sorry dad, we're definitely not missing this." She laughs, and in a blink all the kids were gone, leaving Neytiri and Jake alone in the hut.
Tumblr media
Not long after the kids left, they made their way to one of the pathways that branched off from the main village, and turned into a dock for some of the larger canoes. They called for Y/n, even little Tuk getting involved as they shouted, probably disturbing quite a few people in the process.
A few moments passed, before Y/n swam up, her ilu tailing behind her. She poked her head up out of the water, smiling as she pulled herself up onto the pathway, rising to her feet. "Hello, you finished faster than I thought." She smiles, her tail swaying in a gentle manner.
"Early release." Lo'ak nods, causing Y/n to pause. "I'm sorry, I never actually introduced myself. I'm Y/n, you all are?" She asked, looking over the small group. Each sibling mentioned their names, some (Lo'ak and Tuk) with more enthusiasm than others. Their exchange was interrupted by the soft sounds of padding footsteps, each person turning to look.
Aonung approach, standing next to Y/n and wrapping his arm around her shoulder, causing Y/n to roll her eyes and Lo'ak's eyes to narrow. "Everyone, this is my brother Aonung," Y/n sighed, her tone conveying a mild hint of annoyance as she shifted on her feet.
Aonung was the pro at crashing into situations that weren't his to be in. He thought that since he was the son of the Olo'eyktan, he deserved to be at the center of it all, along with his partner in crime. Said partner in crime, sauntered up behind Aonung, a wide grin on his face. Rotxo was a troublemaker, but no where near to the extent of Aonung, Rotxo actually was generally well behaved. He was usually respectful, helpful, and did his chores, only acting out when he thought it would be funny. He broke up quite a few fights between Aonung and other young Na'vi while they grew up, until he grew big enough to participate. Rotxo was a peacemaker, unless provoked. "And that is Rotxo." Y/n nods, as Rotxo settled in next to Aonung.
It was clear that the two boys were quite protective over Y/n. Aonung because she was his little sister, and Rotxo because she was one of his closest friends, so it was reasonable when they started narrowing their eyes at Lo'ak when they recognized his smitten expression. "And what is it you were doing with them, Y/n?" Aonung asked, looking down to Y/n, who gave a huff. "I was taking them swimming, you're welcome to join us," She nods, wriggling out of her brother's hold. "if you'd like."
Aonung pretends to think for a moment, though it was clear that he had already made his decision. "I suppose we will. Last one in the water is a teylupil!" He grins, the childish banter causing Y/n to smile, watching Aonung dive into the water. She looked to the group, giving a wide smile as she sprung off of the dock, gracefully slipping into the water.
Her strong arms and tail propelled her forward with ease, spinning around next to Aonung to wait for the group. Rotxo was the first to dive in, swimming over to float next to Aonung with his usual smile. Then followed Neteyam and Lo'ak, who (rather unceremoniously) cannon balled into the water, causing y/n to giggle, little bubbles of air rising from her mouth. The girls followed after, Tuk more so flopping into the water, but they all seemed perfectly happy.
The group swam towards the trio of Metkayina, and Y/n made a beckoning motion with her hand, before beginning to swim. Her body slipped through the water with ease, the skilled swimmers naturally much faster than the forest kids. It only took moments for them to be a ways ahead of them. Y/n turned to show them one of the fish, but stopped when she saw that they were so far behind. Tuk, Lo'ak, and Neteyam we're already headed up to the surface. Kiri was off towards the left, watching the hammerbrow fish swim in schools. 'What are they doing? ' Rotxo signed, and Y/n simply shrugged.
She cocked her head slightly, looking up at the group, who had poked their heads back down into the water to view the group. 'Come, swim with us' Y/n signed, prompting confused faces from the surface kids. The boys looked to each other, exchanging confused looks, before looking back down to Y/n, gesturing up to the surface.
She looked to her brother, then to Rotxo, clicking her tongue a bit to get their attention. 'They want us to go to the surface.' She signed, before swimming back up to the surface. She blinked the water out of her eyes when her head breached the surface, taking a soft breath. "Are you alright?" She asked, Aonung and Rotxo breaching behind her, snickering between themselves.
"You're too fast! Wait for us.." Tuk whines, wiping the water out of her sensitive eyes, causing Y/n to pout softly. "We do not speak all this finger talk." Neteyam spoke, making funny little gestures with his hands, which made Aonung laugh even harder. "I will teach you. Come, I will show you the Txampaysye, they will help you breathe." Y/n nods, before slipping back into the water, only after Aonung and Rotxo had gone underwater.
She was sure to be slower, allowing the inexperienced swimmers to keep up. Once she had found the Gill Mantles, she placed one on each of the kid's backs, her hands unintentionally lingering on Lo'ak's lower back as she watched Rotxo's hands, having been signing to her. She didn't fail to notice how hot his skin had grown underneath her hands, curiously watching the purple hue of embarrassment flush over his shoulders and cheeks, just barely hidden by the water. Aonung hadn't failed to notice, narrowing his eyes at the two with a distasteful expression, in no way happy about the physical contact.
He clicked his tongue a few times, his Ilu swimming directly in between Y/n and Lo'ak, knocking them away from each other. Y/n rolled her eyes, giving Lo'ak a playful shove before swimming a few feet away, initiating a playful game of tag that soon roped in the entire group. Tsireya had joined at some point, Y/n wasn't totally sure when but she knew she had gotten tagged, and had been swimming as fast as she possibly could to evade her sister's repetitive attempts to tag her.
Tumblr media
A few hours passed, spent in the water playing tag, hide and seek, and various other games. Eventually, Tuk had begun to grow tired and particularly fussy, saying that her legs hurt from treading water for so long, and that she was hungry. Regretfully, the other siblings agreed, their bodies not yet adjusted to the constant movements of treading water. With that, the group surfaced and settled in on the warm rocks that sat to the East of the beach to warm up and dry off.
They had gathered snacks on the way, dried Teylu, sliced fruit from the melon tree, and the fruit of the tìhawnuwll tree. They had set up a little picnic, relaxing after the thorough exercise of swimming. They had long since finished their snacks, their bellies full and their muscles much less sore, so they were now lounging on the rocks.
After a few moments, Y/n sat up with a soft hum. "Everyone sit up, I will teach you to breathe" She nods, crossing her legs and sitting up straight, smiling as everyone mimicked her posture. "Start by taking deep slow breaths," She breathed, her hands sitting on her knees as she took slow, deep breaths, looking around the group to ensure that they were practicing. Even Aonung and Rotxo had begun participating, that made her happy. She was glad that they were at least trying to behave.
"You must slow down your heartbeat, imagine a flickering flame. Every breath you take, causes the flame to grow bigger. As long as the flame stays lit, you can hold your breath." Y/n smiles, taking a few more deep, slow breaths, smiling as she felt her heartbeat slow down. She then leaned towards Lo'ak, gently placing her hand over his lower abdomen. "Breathe from down here" She instructs.
She didn't fail to notice how his muscles automatically tensed, or how his eyes widened just the slightest bit. Rotxo, Neteyam, and Aonung didn't fail to notice either. Tsireya gave a happy smile, glad that her sister was getting along with such a cute guy. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling his faint heartbeat, the gentle thrumming quickly quickening under her hand. "Lo'ak focus.. Your heartbeat is fast. Slow it down" She murmured, Neteyam and Rotxo laughing at the flustered expression on Lo'ak's face, and at the obvious attraction the two had. Aonung on the other hand, wanted nothing more than to attack the boy, but he knew he would have to restrain himself.
"Sorry." Lo'ak murmurs, doing everything in his power to calm himself down. Once his heartbeat reached a gentle pace, Y/n removed her hand, (much to the displeasure of Lo'ak) and sat back in her previous place. "Take a final deep breath, and hold it for as long as you can." She nods, watching as the group took a deep breath and began to hold it, holding her own breath. Rotxo took the liberty of counting on his fingers, the visual aid seemingly helping the others.
The Sully kids weren't able to hold their breath for very long, but it was longer than their previous attempts while underwater. Y/n called that progress at least. Eventually they seperated. Tuk with Tsireya, Neteyam off to his father, Kiri off on her own to explore, and Aonung and Rotxo off to go hang out with their friends, leaving Y/n and Lo'ak alone.
"Can you tell me about your home, forest boy?" Y/n purred, having been laying on her back, sunning herself on one of the rocks with her eyes closed. Lo'ak, though he'd never admit it, had been unintentionally staring. He had been watching how her steady breaths caused the iridescent jewels on her top to shimmer as they caught the afternoon light, casting the purple and blue light across her teal skin.
He had been watching how her hair hung around the rock, still partially damp, perfect coils of hair slowly drying with the help of the warm stone. He found everything about her perfect, her hair, her skin, her clothes, her body. He stopped himself from thinking further. He was more gentlemanly than that.
The question took him slightly off guard, but he decided to answer nonetheless, the nickname causing a funny sort of happiness to bubble up inside of him. "My home?" He repeated, thinking for a moment. "It's big, beautiful. Full of trees and wildlife, like there's something new at every turn. No oceans or beaches, just rivers, waterfalls, and lakes. We lived in the floating mountains with some of the sky people, who were loyal to the Na'vi. The rest of the people live in the village that surrounds it." He spoke passionately, looking up at the sky with a soft smile on his lips.
Y/n listened with a soft smile, eventually looking over to him as she rolled over onto her stomach so she could sun her back, her tail swaying in a content manner. "It sounds pretty." She nods, before frowning when she saw an upset frown grace his lips. She sat up, and walked over to him, sitting on the stone next to him. "What's the matter?" She queried, trying to read the complex emotions on his face.
"Nothing... Stomach ache." He lied, looking away from her. He wasn't about to vent to the girl he was undoubtedly crushing on. That would be so not cool. "No, Lo'ak, you are clearly upset. You can talk to me, okay? I swear to Eywa that I won't judge you." The look on Lo'ak's face soured even more at her soft coaxing, his ears tilting back to pin against his head. "I might never be able to go home again." He whispered, unable to hide the shakiness that laced his voice.
The sudden change in emotion made Y/n feel like her heart was about to be ripped into two. He was only fourteen, yet he lost his whole life, and never had the chance to mourn it. "No, Lo'ak. You will be able to go home someday. And even if you don't, you can make a home here... If you'd like." She murmurs, sliding next to him so she could pull him into a gentle embrace, resting his head on her shoulder. He didn't move away, rather relaxing into the tenderness of the moment. No one had ever actually comforted him. Just told him to suck it up and Soldier on at all points in his life. He hadn't realized how much he actually needed this moment.
They sat in silence for a while, Y/n running a gentle hand over the back of his head. "Eywa has a plan for you yet, Lo'ak..." She murmured into the silence, the only sounds surrounding them being the lapping of the waves on the stone, and the distant cries of the ilu.

It would be based on ocs rather than canon x y/n, but I've been thinking about the idea of writing one for quite a while now. I just don't want to start putting effort in it if no one wants to read it 💀

This depiction of Y/N is derived from a poll I made! Y/N has been built as using She/Her pronouns, and is biologically female. There may be a little bit of self deflection here, just for funsies because I love character building. | This current chapter is safe, but a later chapter is planned to contain smut, so keep that in mind if that's not something you're comfortable with! I'll be sure to add a pre-added warning when I post it to let y'all know. | The song that is used in this fic is Black Honey by Thrice (highly recommend giving it a listen, especially while reading) | Language | Mentions of Readers mother being in a hospital

Y/N's head snapped up when she heard the muffled beeping of her alarm, the deafening noise is drowned out by the blasting music on her Bluetooth earbuds. She sighs, taking the earbuds out of her ears, Dustin Kensrue's voice and the beat of the drums still audible from the headphones, dropping them onto her nightstand. As her ears adjusted to the noise that engulfed her surroundings, she roughly smacked the off button on the alarm clock, silencing the ear-splitting repetition.
"What was I dreaming about again?" She mutters, sitting up and slowly dragging herself out of bed, picking up the blue constellation-print blankets off of the floor, and setting them on the bed, before looking down at her pajamas. She huffs, untucking her t-shirt from the band of their bra, and rightening the band of her shorts.
Before her mother went insane, she had said her dreams were a 'gateway into her divination', so Y/N was constantly trying to recall whatever fantasy she had concocted, but she always came up fruitless. Her dreams escaped her as soon as she opened her eyes, so she wore the headphones, trying to drown out whatever possible premonition that would make its way to her.
Y/N yawns, stretching with a soft yawn, and looking towards her backpack, that was propped up against her vanity. "Right... First day of school, better get ready" She sighs to herself, and went about getting dressed, pulling on the standard Nevermore uniform, and put on her array of crystal and protective jewelry. She made sure to keep the necklaces tucked into her shirt, but paused when she looked down to her jewelry holder, eyes trained on the carnelian necklace that sat on the plate.
(Note: Carnelian is used to boost confidence, self esteem, energy, creativity, sexual energy, amongst other things)
"Wouldn't hurt" She shrugs, picking up the necklace and fastening the clasp around her neck, tucking the crystal into her shirt. Once she deemed herself ready, she grabbed her backpack and made her way out of the bedroom, and into the dusty hall, walking down the staircase. Blue and purple light streamed in through the tinted windows as she walked into the kitchen, stepping around the empty wheelchair to grab the loaf of bread, tossing a few slices into the toaster.
She was caught up in her head, relaying over usual first day of school thoughts, absent mindedly picking up the jam and butter from the fridge, setting it on the counter. Once the toast popped up from the toaster, she quickly made her pieces of toast, and looked over to the nearby clock, noting the time... It being 5 minutes after her usual leaving point.
"Shit!-" She shouts, cramming both pieces of toast into her mouth as fast as she could manage without choking, before bolting out the door. Heavy platforms flunked against the concrete as Y/N booked it out of the large, empty house, and towards the academy's bus queue.
This was her first day at Nevermore, she'd been to similar schools, there being one or two for the 'magically gifted' or strange, but as her mother changed hospitals, Y/N had to change schools. Overall, she was okay with that, she never made a lot of friends, and she had never made plans to be 'lifelong besties' with the ones she made.
Luckily, the bus was empty when it pulled up to the stop, her house being the only one on the street. She climbed into the bus, giving a half hearted wave to the old Gorgon bus driver, before going to sit down in the nearest possible seat.
She then pulled out her phone, opening up her messages, and then her mother's contact, staring at the thousands of unanswered messages. Y/N wrote to her mother daily, good mornings, good nights, life updates, when she'd visit next, but they always went unanswered. Her mom could barely even gather her thoughts enough to lift the phone, Y/N just assumed she let her phone die at some point and never plugged it back in, or maybe the orderlies took it.
"You alright back there honeybun? Looking a little forlorn" The old man calls, causing Y/N to look up from her screen, and over to the bus driver. "Oh, yeah I'm fine... Just uh.. Nervous about today" She lied, in reality, she was perfectly fine with starting at the new school, she had done a card reading or two, and established that everything would (hopefully) go fine. "Ah, well. I don't know if things have changed since I last attended Nevermore, since that was a few decades ago, but I'm sure things will be fine" He nods with a smile, which made Y/N give a soft smile in return, at least he was sweet.
◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗ ◖◗
When the bus pulled up to the academy, Y/N hopped off the bus, waving to the bus driver. "Bye Mister Chesnok!" She calls, waving to the old man on the bus, who gave a feeble wave. She then turned towards the school, looking over the crowds of students, already gathering in their cliques as staff loaded up their luggage onto the trolleys.
She gave a soft sigh, putting in her headphones to drown out the surrounding voices, pressing play on the side of the earbuds as she walked to the steps of the school.
"I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest"
Y/N made it about halfway up the stone steps, before she felt someone tap on her shoulder. She gave a soft sigh, and turned down the music, before looking up and turning. There stood six students, of various species, each of them looking at her with hopeful and expecting expressions.
"...Can I help you?" Y/N sighs, her voice clear, speaking with a sort of assertiveness that she portrayed when dealing with peers. "Hi! Uh.. You're the new oracle kid right?" A small gorgon girl squeaked, clutching her backpack. "I'm not reading y'alls fortunes, if that's what you're trying to ask" Y/N rolled her eyes, turning away from them, before a vampire boy cleared his throat. "Well pay you" He chimes, peaking Y/N's interest.
"Do you understand I deserve the best?"
She gave another soft sigh, and turned back to the group. "One reading per person, I charge extra for relationship readings. Schedule with me beforehand, so I can write in breaks." She quips, she usually knew better than this... But the offer of payment was always something that broke her. She was an opportunist after all.
The turned her music back up, and turned back towards the door, walking into the school, leaving the group wonderstruck.

Note
Have you gotten many responses yet?
I haven't gotten a whole lot, and most of the ones I've gotten are usually either all the same, or so off kilter it's mildly terrifying 💀
But I've gotten a few pretty good ones, probably only 5 ish in total though.
Patiently waiting for requests that branch into other fandoms since I've added a few new ones

✰Time for a much needed update + announcement!✰
Tumblr media
Hello hello lovelies!
Sorry for the inactivity, school and irl stuff has swamped me.
I'm going to take a small break from the Poltergeist series, just because I've been low on motivation for it and want to further plan for it before I push another chapter out.
BUT!
I don't want to starve y'all, so I've decided to take a different approach on a new fic!
*whispers* I think y'all will like it
Base plot:
Y/N is an oracle, their mother being a famous divinier. They love their craft, and their favorite tools are tarot cards, and an occasional crystal ball. (because that's the tool I have the most experience with)
When they start their term at Nevermore, naturally they are automatically flocked by all kinds of outcasts, begging them to "read their futures".
Y/N knows that they can't overuse their craft, if they do it can cause them to fall ill, or like their mother, lose their mind. But, judging by the heft wads of cash being waved in their face, their resolve weakens; they are an opportunist after all.
Here's the fun part!
You guys get to design Y/N!
Using these polls, I'll take the most requested, and make Y/N according to them!
(This also includes the love interest!)

After some quiet bickering between Y/N and Enid, the two made their way down to the quad. They walked down the stone hallways, Enid rambling on and on about how annoying her brothers were and how erratic her mother acted over the summer.
"Hey, Enid?" Y/N queries, her eyebrows knitting together as she thought over the question she wanted to ask.
"Yeah?" Enid hums, looking up from the piece of neon pink saltwater taffy that she was unwrapping, before successfully freeing the sweet from its wax paper prison, and popping it in her mouth.
"You always talk about your mom, and your brothers, but what about your dad?" Y/N asks, unsure if the topic was okay to mention. Y/N had met Enid's dad... Well. More saw him, neither of the girls were very happy to introduce each other to their parents since they were previously exhausted from staying up all night studying, so neither of them ever exchanged any words.
"My dad? He's a cool, down-to-earth sorta guy. He doesn't talk a lot though, mostly out working and stuff" Enid shrugs, wrinkling her nose when the taffy stuck to her molars and her canines, (much like a pitbull that got into a jar of peanut butter) and Y/N couldn't contain her laughter.
Y/N nods with a small hum, and Enid perked up. "What about your mom? I haven't met her yet." She hums, still struggling to free her teeth from the sticky confines of the taffy. Y/N thought for a moment, before giving a soft smile, adjusting her bag on her shoulder.
"My moms cool. It's just me and her, so we do our best to get along." She nods, the warm smile remaining on her lips. Enid nods with a little hum, licking the rest of the taffy off of her teeth before looking up as the two stepped foot into their first class.
Y/N could /feel/ the mischievous grin that spread across Enid's mouth, watching as he friend scurried off to go sit next to a vampire girl that Y/N didn't know well. She looked around, and her heart sunk. There was only one open seat, and it was next to the one person she's been avoiding. Ajax Petropolus.
She took a shaky breath, fighting every instinct she had not to go intangible, but rather settled with semi-tangible, her form flickering. Ajax didn't notice at first, he was too busy staring at his phone, the screen blank. Honestly Y/N just assumed that he was stoned, it wouldn't surprise her.
The teacher walked in, beginning to drawl on about some sort of history lecture, something that Y/N had no interest in, especially not while Ajax was sitting so close to her. She had never even been within 3 feet of the boy, much less sitting directly next to him.
She sat in silence, until she heard him give a soft sigh. "I.. Sorry. I haven't been paying attention, what are we going over again?" He asks, his voice barely over a whisper, a rough ish tone sliding from a smoke burnt throat. Y/N's breath caught slightly in her throat, mustering up whatever little courage she had to answer. "Uh... Normie History I think, World War 3 and whatever misfits fought in it" She nods, glancing over at him, watching as a small snake slowly slipped out from under his beanie, sneaking a curious glance towards the girl.
"Ah, cool. Okay, thanks" he nods, before offering a hand out to her, which Y/N shook, doing her best to make sure she stayed tangible, despite the butterflies in her stomach. "I'm Ajax" he says, with a small smile that made Y/N's heart melt. "Y/N" she smiles.

hello I wanted to say that I have read all your ajax x reader and I just love the way you write!!
if u have time or want to could u maybe do one with reader having basically the same personality as gomez addams? maybe they meeting for the first time or just getting together? u can write whatever u want but I had this in my mind and thought that it could be cool idk. I'm sure whatever u choose to go with it will be awesome!
(u don't have to but maybe some kinda sexual stuff like touches a bit more suggestive and just being all over each other like gomez and morticia?)
thank u for taking time to see this! I hope u have a lovely day!!
I love this idea! Will absolutely write something up for this, so I'll add you to the taglist when I get around to it!

Y/N had always been an outcast, much like a majority of her peers, she was born with... Not so human attributes. She could become intangible, float, turn invisible, and do various other things thanks to her mother. Her mother had raised her alone, her father having left as soon as her mother had gained word of the possible pregnancy, wanting nothing to do with raising the poor girl.
As she got older, her abilities lead to instability. She would become intangible when nervous or accidentally Dream Walk, which lead to worry from kids in her home state. Which, lead to her mother (with her daughter's best interest in mind) enrolling Y/N into Nevermore Academy. Her mother had gone to the school in the past, and had only good things to say about the Academy, so Y/N agreed.
That was a year ago, and Y/N had arrived to the academy for her second year, already partially intangible just out of excitement. "My love" Her mother coos gently, reminding her daughter to maintain awareness of her current state. "Sorry mom"
Y/N apologized, and moved to hug her mother once she was fully tangible. "Have fun Amor, be safe alright?" She smiles, looking down at her daughter with an expression that could only be love and adoration. "Love you mom, I'll be safe" Y/N smiles, before picking up her bags, watching as one of the staff members came to take the heavy trunks up to her dorm.
She was rooming with the same girl from her previous year, a werewolf named Enid who loved everything bright and colorful. They had gotten along immediately, and she was pleased to see the same blonde girl, pink and blue tinting the tips of her short hair.
"Y/N!" Enid squeals, pink shoes clattering on the brick road as she ran over to hug Y/N with a happy looking smile. "You didn't text all summer! I was so worried, I thought you died!" She whines, voice an octave higher than needed, but Y/N didn't mind any. She hugged Enid tightly with a smile, burying her face in her shoulder. Enid was right, she hadn't texted, but that was mostly because her home town had absolutely horrible phone reception. "I know! I'm sorry, I couldn't get my phone to work"
Y/N reasoned, which Enid deemed as an acceptable excuse. After some idle chatting, the girls ran up to their dorm, sneakers thumping on the stone floors as they ran to change into their uniforms.
After a but of running Enid stops, which caused Y/N to stop and look back. Enid was talking to a tall boy, wearing the signature gorgon hat that the school provided, and a looser uniform. Ajax Petropolus, the boy that Y/N had been pining for for a majority of the year before, was a gorgon, a slight stoner with a sort of anti social personality.
Enid looked back over to where she was standing, but was upset to find that Y/N was completely intangible, and thus was totally invisible. Y/N stood in that spot for a moment, before slowly floating off to her dorm.
This was a trick that she had grown used to using, avoiding Ajax and praying that he didn't know she existed. It hurt her, and cut the void within her a little deeper every time she hid, but it made her feel better about her nervousness.
She floats into their room, shifting back to tangible as she sets to work on unpacking, putting in some headphones to listen to music as she worked.
Enid soon ran into the dorm room, crossing her arms when she found her roommate. "Cmon roomie, you can't run away from him for forever! He'll wind up dating someone else if you don't take a chance"
Enid sighs, watching Y/N begrudgingly shuffle around, folding up her clothes as she put them away. "I'll get around to it.... Eventually" she mumbles, but groaned when Enid pulled her away. "No no, you're going to talk to him. No going all ghosty either, you're holding a conversation with him like a real person." she huffs

I know it's short, I've been busy, but I wanted to get y'all something to tide you over! I'll put another part out soon!
