Don't use your muse(s) to vent your out-of-character frustrations or give yourself an ego boost.

I've seen this happen many times over my 10+ years of role-playing on this site. I've met a lot of muns that tend to use their muses as a means of airing out their grievances, or making themselves feel/seem important.

Example #1: I once met someone who would speak through their muse whenever someone on the dash (a writing partner or just a mutual) angered or frustrated them. They wouldn't directly call the target out, but to those in the know, it was clear who they were talking about.

Example #2: I knew someone that I would plot a thread out in advance with, we both agreed that was how it was going to play out so both of us would be happy, and then when it came down to writing the thread, their muse unexpectedly vilified mine in order to make them seem like they were "special" or "more important" or "the good guy."

This is incredibly frustrating and off-putting. Writing is supposed to be fun for everyone involved. It's not meant to make any one person seem or feel more important than anyone else.

If you're doing either of these things, rest assured that you are the only one having fun.

Vanillahub: Vani is my long running pen name, and I just needed something to indicate this as a RP hub;

Healbellls: 3 Ls bc I needed to make sure it would be available for me to use. Healbell is the name of an attack within the Pokemon franchise, I wanted something different from my last pokemon blogs' urls.

Hxdrostorms: Hxdrostorm was the url for my Richter Belmont blog, wayyyyy back in 2017. And I recovered that url in 2022-23, for a multifandom blog, the last blog before I moved here. This blog was originally meant to be one for muses that I would only use with my friends. Back when I made it, I had full intentions of bringing back some muses............ But ultimately that idea was discarded. And now it's my mostly Saint Seiya multimuse blog (It still has Richter in it but like... He may as well be just there for decoration purposes LOL).

respond to the prompts out of character!

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? Obviously, I'm heavily influenced by a set list of characters I personally love, which means I come up with a take/portrayal as I delve deeper into the lore. I tend to have a preference for side characters, rather than protags or lore heavy ones, bc of the freedom I get... BUT at the same time I've had numerous muses that carry a lot of weight in their respective franchises (see: Seto Kaiba, Captain Rex, rival Barry, Richter Belmont and Sea Dragon Kanon just to name a few).

I mainly write as canon characters, I genuinely have little to no interest in making or RPing as an OC. At most, I have 1 OC in two out of the RPCs I'm currently part of. Which explains this huge disparity.

is there anything you don’t like to write? My hard nos are Incest, Adult/minor types of relationships. Bodily fluids/toilet stuff and fetish focused RPs. One-liners and really short replies aren't fun for me, sure, they can be fun for crack/joke interactions. But they won't last long. I really love working and expanding on the source material, so RPs for me really need to have that good plotting to back it up. While I'm totally open for exploring darker/taboo subjects (e.g.: adultery, toxic relationships, etc.), they MUST carry weight on the characters and be handled accordingly.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? GIMME ALL THE WEIRD COMBOS TO INTERACT WITH!!! Characters that never met or barely interacted with one another in canon but, they can interact in our RPs!!! My jam is doing worldbuilding and expanding on the source material!!! I also enjoy writing comedy, fluff, romance, slice-of-life, over-arching stories that connect/get refferenced in other threads.

how do you come up with headcanons? I look for plotholes or anything that was barely touched upon, in the source material, and I go off from it. I try establishing connections or make them clearer, to serve as future reference for me and my RP partners. I also love taking influence from other medias I'm into.

do you write in silence or do you play music? I used to be able to multitask a lot easier in the past. Now, I mainly prefer writing in silence. Only in very rare cases, I may play some kind of lo-fi beat or lounge music.

do you plan your replies or wing them? It depends on the thread in specific! Most of them have been plotted out, so I go off what we have laid out. Only in a few cases I try to wing it.

do you enjoy shipping? YES YES. GIMME. However, due to some bad experiences in the past, I'm really picky with platonic and familial stuff (popular fanons my beloathed).

OKAY SO an overdue needed update:

where exactly have I been? It's no secret that my general activity in my blogs has declined A LOT, and I don't see that changing in a near future. Which is entirely due to my attention and focus currently being elsewhere.

Overall, I've been having far more enticing/interesting RPs on Discord, and it has definetely become my preferred (if not my primary) RPing platform and style (1x1, no peers).

Does it mean I'll be abandoning my blogs?

Not at all! Because I still have RP partners, who prefer doing things on Tumblr. So, I'm truly still around for those ppl, more than anything else.

But I'm truly saying that Discord RP from now on will be my main focus, and I'll still get back to Tumblr RP to reply to my current ongoing threads here. I'll try to send in prompts here and there whenever/if I happen to stumble upon it, and I'll be even more selective/unlikely about following new people.

My blogs are still very valuable to me in the sense of being able to post and save my muses Headcanons. So, they really aren't going anywhere.

If any of my current RP partners would like to move their threads to Discord, I'll be more than glad to oblige!

I'm very much against the use of AI, in any shape or form in RP. I want NOTHING to do with people who use it, or create character bots. As it currently stands, this technology runs off scraping ppl's works, unethically and without any form of compensation for the rightful authors. If I find out you are somehow, feeding my writing/HCs to create bots around them. I will have no qualms in exposing your shit publicly.

I understand that effectively, this will not do anything to stop ppl from doing this shit. But, I still feel the need to show my stance on this matter. Because unfortunately, this is a growing issue in online spaces.

Musings & Aesthetics are A-OK with me, it is just prompts I'm not cool with having them reblogged from me. I already try to avoid that by, constantly deleting old reblogs, but this still happens from time to time. Non-mutuals will immediately get blocked, and I'll DM mutuals to avoid/stop doing that.

Ever since I started running a ship-centric fandom event, I've stumbled upon a weird trend amongst other similar events: Which is just basically allowing unrelated ship content, into the submissions.

I'm sorry for assuming these events were meant to celebrate, a specific ship, without others butting in?

There are a few things that makes me think, it drove ppl to begin:

Ppl likely wanting to try include platonic stuff into the mix. Which isn't a problem at all on its own, but surely they should have expected that ppl would try to abuse the loophole. This is why it is important to highlight the fact it isn't allowed to bring up, unrelated things to it (it's 2024 and you have to specify this, so ppl don't try to be sneaky about that shit). It sucks bc, I'm also a firm believer that platonic stuff deserves its space and be cultivated, just as valid as romantic ones. But then bad apples, give these ppl such a bad rep all around;

Fear that no one would participate in the event to begin with, thus they allow ppl to basically do whatever they want. This sucks, but I can imagine it being a reality for small/rarepairs. But at the same time, if it got to this point, I would have called off the event altogether.

Still in general fandom territory:

While Gen 9 came with some genuinely cool pokemon designs.

In the human/trainers department, I feel like they fumbled so hard this time around. Not a single CHARACTER looked interesting in my eyes. And somehow, it got worse with the DLC.

Ppl may try to defend it and claim how "oh but it makes sense in the non-existent story". And like first impressions/presentation are EVERYTHING, this includes cool/interesting character designs to onlookers. For me... They dropped the ball really hard here as well.

And for me, the worst human design for this generation goes to...

this thing. I call him the "Tumblr bait".

Fandom centric bc I've been taking a break from the rpc:

Easy guide on how to make TBB/Rebels girlies have a public meltdown: Remind them of the official rating, which is just a kid's show. It's not a hidden fact. The rating isn't wrong either.

I really wished these people could face the fact that: they found enjoyment out of a show meant for a much younger target, and that's okay. There's no problem with it, at all. Instead of them trying to bootlick and make it into something, that it really isn't.

"This is the most serious & deep thing within SW series!!!" Not counting Legends, bc let's face it, those girlies would never touch anything from the old material. But literally TCW's early seasons were a whole lot more graphic, in their depictions of violence as well as the range of topics it brought up during it (I'm not here to argue the quality, just the fact that TCW managed to bring up a lot of things that nowadays gets heavily censored). HELL even 2003's TCW had a lot more impact, with what it showed us.

"This series shouldn't be a kids show!!!" These are the same ppl who'd see anything from Saint Seiya, and claim the show rightfully deserves to be aired on Adult swim.

"Oh nooo x thing that happened in TBB was TRAUMATIC to me!! In MY version of--" Can you really call yourself a fan of something, if you have to change everything about it, to the extent it is not even close to the original thing? IDK I feel like this new crowd of ppl, would probably be a lot happier in any other franchise's fandom (Unless they are joking around. The word trauma carries a very HEAVY meaning and weight to it, which shouldn't be watered down like that. It's concerning the way they use that term, and think that's okay.).
