He was skittish and traumatised when first Zhongli rescued him from his original master, but as he healed, he grew to be happy and bubbly. Joyful. He took up the mantle of Yaksha because he wanted to help.

And Zhongli was then forced to watch as the karma from his duty started to weigh on him and the merry light in his eyes faded. Slowly, as his comrades are killed one by one, that light fully extinguishes.

Zhongli who now sees only flickers of it, from time to time, while he watches Xiao watch birds from a distance or listens to the whistle of the wind on the mountaintops.

Recently saw @vanillylamine 's gorgeous art of a Howl's Moving Castle AU for Eimiko and couldn't resist. It works so SO well and I'm CRYING at the thought of Miko Pendragon and Ei Hatter living their happy lil lives up in the skies. (Bonus: Kunikuzushi as Markl)

This is a diary of my impressions as I am reading the original version of Bartimaeus. I am reading it little by little with a friend, setting target sections, but it is very time-consuming if my English is not good! But it is difficult but so interesting because there are new discoveries to be made. In the Japanese version, Bart speaks lines that are not in the original book, which makes it more comical and lively. Nat's language is a bit childish, which is cute. In the original, Bart is more cynical and cool. Nat seems smarter than that. Love it. I can't for the life of me understand the detailed nuances, so I am only trying to depict the differences from the Japanese version that I felt when I translated it directly.
