this is actually such an interesting take… it’s so obvious but i never really thought about it directly like this?? sure, i’ve subconsciously thought ‘man it sucks that these shows are so popular for such a short period of time and then die (potentially for years) before the next season is released (IF - big if - there’s a second season)'.. but really, the effect is obvious. like yeah obviously the like-to-reblog issue is in the fucking toilet bc no one really cares about the content and creators they see on here anymore and everything is taken for granted, but man. nowadays everything is tailored for short ass attention spans that only want to consume a whole season in less than a week (and this is coming from someone who loves binging so don’t come at me lmao) so of course that’s going to reflect heavily on this site that survives off that content. there was nothing - and i mean NOTHING - like the days when shows were released weekly and we would all flood online and see sets and edits and analyses and all kind of just rot here together with our fave shows.

it’s just not the same anymore. even for shows that do release weekly (the first thing that comes to my mind that still often does this is anime), now a lot of this happens over on twitter, which is rife with spoilers, negativity, and unoriginality (and obviously isn’t built for creative content). it’s not a fun place to get together and discuss and speculate, it’s mostly to complain and post spoilers without warning. it’s to the point i’d rather enjoy it on my own without finding fandom online. i miss the tumblr glory days man. anyway good post op i love that brain of yours

no offence but the reason tumblr is “dying” is, well, yes, of course the cursed like/reblog ratio and the change in user behaviour (because of people being used to how instagram and tiktok work) BUT also the lack of weekly shows. i say it with my whole chest, they don't produce captivating and engaging stupid weekly tv shows anymore because streaming killed that so you have spikes of activity here when Something happens in general fandom or up to three days after a new season of whatever drops and then it's a wasteland. this is obviously an old woman yelling at a cloud missing supernatural and the vampire diaries and pretty little liars and all these other shows type of post but honestly give me back weekly tv shows where i have something to watch for 40 minutes almost every day of the week after work so then i can read and reblog it on tumblr give it back for the sake of my sanity
