I would like to specify some things about this now with the benefit of retrospect. During Forsaken the last wish was simply meant to be the curse loop and the 15th wish was just Shaxx VO for the raid that was cut but still had some data left in the API which triggered all the theories. It wasn't until Witch Queen was being written that the whole wish and Truth to Power actually became relevant.

In the Witch Queen collector's edition lore Ikora debates with Arach Jalall over what the point of the Truth to Power was and Ikora comes to the conclusion that its all metaphorical about Savathun's studies to trascend dimensional layers and its why she was in the Dreaming City studying the Distributary so much.

Then Witch Queen comes out and Savathun is trying to steal the Traveler for an undisclosed purpose and also betrayed the Witness and protected the Traveler in the collapse for an unknown purpose. Then in Lightfall the Veil comes into play and we learn that Savathun murdered Nezarec and stole and hid the Veil with Ishtar as they landed on Neptune. Final piece comes into play during Season of the Witch where at the top of Savathun's Spire rests an unhatched Ahamkara egg and we find the secret 15th wish that grants a single entity passage into the Pale Heart. The conclusion is that Savathun was going to seal the Traveler in her throne world and use her newly born Ahamkara and her pre-made 15th wish to enter the Pale Heart herself.

It was all a nice and tidy theory and then Final Shape comes in like a wrecking ball and not only confirms all of this but adds even more depth to Savathun's plan. She laid contingencies everywhere in case at any point her plan failed, she had the Lucent Hive infiltrate the Black Fleet so they could invade the Pale Heart in case the Witness wins and gets inside first and groomed Crow into allying with the Last City so he could use the 15th wish and send the Guardians in too through Mara. And all of these contingencies worked, either she wins in Witch Queen and gets in or Lightfall and Final Shape happens and she gets in.

Only real kicker right now is we barely have the faintest clue from Queen's part 2 about what Savathun's goals are now that she's there...

Yeah, no, the Last Wish being the solution for following the Witness still is an asspull and there had to be something cooler that felt more like it took the setting's rules seriously. The whole thing depends on being able to semi-resurrect Riven. Could other people be similarly semi-brought back? Calus could answer some questions, Oryx, too.

I knew the Veil was so much filler, ugh. You could have skipped the entire Lightfall campaign and just played the first cutscene and then Witness winning and nothing in the plot would have changed...barely anything in the world changed. Neomuna existing means nothing, the City doesn't seem affected despite clawing through alone for so long. Calus being gone means what to the Imperial Cabal? We haven't been told in the last year. Asher is dead in a sidequest, apparently, just having given up despite his thing being not giving up. Our allied kaiju is snoozing; all that info-dumping about the massively destructive enemies on our doorstep really took it out of her. Despite all the fuss about lifting the Dreaming City curse, I guess we just can't, darn, them's the breaks.

It helps to write one's war stories like war campaigns; this front here, that ally entangled there, these resources available for response and attack, this part of the coalition demands this happen for that reason. If we release the curse, for instance, then the bulk of the Awoken forces can come to bear in the fight. Humiliate Salvation and more Eliksni warriors join House Light instead of waffling. Secure a home for the Cabal civilians and they will be better able to fight on the front, both logistically and in terms of morale. Help the distrustful Neomuni and gain access to tech and info that can help stem the tide. The good seasons of Destiny have been written like that, or at least tending toward it, but here at the edge of the end of this epic struggle, it's just some stuff going on.

I'm half-sure Crow is tied to Cayde coming back in some way. It would be nice to have some reflection on lost love in light of the Taranis connection; I know it's a straight couple but one of them is dead (fridged) so Destiny can acknowledge it now. If she isn't permanently dead, maybe then it's still against the rules, though, so there's that.

Let's run down how she's rated politically by some organizations that we vibe with, kay?

ACLU = 93% on civil liberties

AFL-CIO = 100% on trade unions

Human Rights Campaign = 100% on queer rights

League of Conservation Voters = 91% on environmentalism

NARAL = 100% on reproductive rights

NRA Fund = 7% on gun rights (we LIKE a low score on this one)

NEA = 100% on education

Planned Parenthoos = 100% on reproductive rights

In addition, GovTrack (which is a nonpartisan tracker) places her in the MOST politically left-leaning categories of Senators. So we've got a very liberal, woman of color who's spent her career trying to mitigate draconian tough-on-crime laws to benefit the accused and keep black people out of prison and decrease recidivism and that's somehow...just barely tolerable.

So I ask again...what is that you're dissatisfied with? Is it Palestine? as recently as March she was calling for a ceasefire and demanding aid to Gaza. Keep in mind she's pretty constrained as to what's possible to do in this situation.

Is it just that she was a prosecutor? That is an important job that needs to be done and we WANT people doing it who aren't rah-rah tough-on-crime Gestapo types, which she is not. We need prosecutors who are addressing the root causes of crime and looking for ways to help people escape the cycle, which she has done to the point that she was often called SOFT on crime.

So what is your objection here? Is it that her politics aren't 100% aligned with a bunch of Tumblr socialists? I got news for you...we Tumblr socialists DO NOT REPRESENT THE ELECTORATE. If such a candidate existed, they would not win.

Democrats struggle sometimes because our tent is large. Republicans just want you if you're a straight white man and preferably rich. There's room for a lot more types in the lefty side, but sadly that means a lot of room also for dissention among the ranks. This is how they get us. Let's not let them, huh? Just a suggestion.
