Elsabelle has a problem: she's mourning the recent death of her beloved husband. Not only that, she has a newborn baby to take care of, and since the House Martritz collapsed, she has no means of supporting herself or her baby, so she'll have to marry a noble in a marriage of convenience!

Eugene has a problem: He's a noble who's gotten a little too comfortable murdering his underlings, and has no crested children to inherit his title, so the other nobles are eager to connect him to the murders and kick him out of the Emperor's castle!

Von Vestra has a problem: One of the other nobles is a dangerous loose cannon who has a vendetta against them, and they need to get him out of here as quickly as possible. Not only that, but he and Von Aegir are plotting an insurrection against the Emperor, which could go all the way right or all the way left. And who is this woman who has showed up at the castle, saying something about getting an anonymous note for a marriage of convenience?
