“Centuries ago the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu forged an alliance at Lord Liu Kang’s request. The Shirai Ryu’s founder, Hanzo Hasashi, entered a pact with the original Cryomancer; the Lin Kuei would help keep watch over the Earthrealm’s Jinsei, and in return the Shirai Ryu would guard the Lin Kuei’s most coveted possession: the Dragon Medallion.

For hundreds of years, the medallion sat in stasis, rendered a worthless artifact. When I questioned this, Sifu Bi Han immediately struck me down, demanding that I know my place. I had dedicated my life to the Lin Kuei, to honoring its traditions, but my patience was beginning to wear thin under Sifu’s constant disapproval and abuse. I grew weary of this foolish ploy at diplomacy; with the Dragon Medallion, no one would stand in my way. I murdered Bi Han, and would have dispatched of his brother, Kuai Liang, had he not made his escape. But it doesn’t matter. The medallion belongs to us, to me. With it, I’ll become the Grandmaster the Lin Kuei deserves. From now on, I am no longer Frost.

“Our alliance with the Lin Kuei ushered in an era of peace between our lands, and served to bolster Earthrealm’s defenses. We served our brother clan’s interests out of respect to our founder, Grandmaster Hanzo. But none of us could have anticipated the defection of one of the Lin Kuei’s deadliest assets, the killer Frost. In her blind ambition, she murdered her own sifu. Next came the Shirai Ryu. Kuai Liang beat her to the medallion, but could not stop her onslaught on our people. In her frenzy, she murdered the rest of my clan. I was spared only by the fact that my father Kenshi had retrieved me to investigate the disappearance of my mother.

Devastated and enraged, I used my father’s research into Netherrealm necromancy to seek my revenge against Frost. I journeyed into the heart of the Senkaku Islands to retrieve the clan founder’s body. In his revival, the wraith now known as Oznah aids me in my quest to ensure that the new Sub Zero faces justice for her atrocities against both of our clans. In doing so, I would assume a new identity for myself. From this day on, I will no longer be known as Takeda.
