Why does Patched Plaything use -1/-1 counters? Wouldn't it work just as well as a 2/1 that gets two +1/+1 counters if you DIDN'T cast it from your hand?
The current version allows you to find ways to remove the -1/-1 counters which makes the creature larger.

Will we ever see Skunk as a creature type? What color(s) would Skunks best fit in?
Maybe? : )
In a normal setting, Skunks probably lean green.

Homunculus fact! While Homunculi on Ravnica, Fiora, and Kylem have been shown to have vowelless names, that is not the case on Innistrad, as with Geralf's assistant, Oglor.

Would you complete a mega-mega-cycle even if it was started unintentionally? I'm waiting for the green version of Charming Prince, Callous Bloodmage, Aether Channeler, and Charming Scoundrel.
It depends on how much players believe it's a cycle.

If you make another faction set on Ravnica, would you avoid using surveil on non-Dimir cards since it was a Dimir keyword originally, or would it be available to all guilds since it's evergreen now?
It's available to all as it's evergreen.

Could two Universes Beyond creature types have the same Universes Within equivalent? E.g. could Necron and Dalek be the same creature type?
Could a Universes Beyond creature type be equivalent to an existing Universes Within creature type? E.g. could Necron and Phyrexian be the same creature type?
The is currently uncharted space, so the best I can do is speculate. These answers are not definitive. My best guess is no to the first question and probably no to the second.

If there's one career where you're sure to find a lot of Magic players, it's computer programmers. I think Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer, would have enjoyed playing this Commander deck.

When you're working on a set, how do you decide when you're done? I've been doing some game projects lately and the urge to keep tweaking is strong
We have a schedule. I’m done with vision design when I have to hand it off to set design.
