the absolute worst argument around is “well 100 coorperations are causing 90% of climate change so I’m just going to absolutely nothing to change my detrimental behaviors, including continuing to support those coorperations”

Why Veganism destroys the planet
Your new-found love for quinoa means higher prices for South America’s staple food. Locals can no longer afford the quinoa you’re tossing into your rainbow salad.
Haven’t you heard of Mexico’s ‘Blood Avocados’? The 200 million avocados shipped to America every year. That’s right, to fuel your morning smoothie. Besides, what’s movie night without guacamole?
While avocados help your diet, it doesn’t help Mexican farmers who pay extortion money to drug cartels cashing in on the craze.
Your love for palm oil over butter to save cows costs us our forests. And over-harvesting destroys the very habitat that keeps animals, insects and the entire ecosystem ticking.
It’s for the same reason, soy and maize fields are criticized the world over. Over-farming strips the soil of nutrients. How do you correct that? Add fertilizers which then flood our lakes, rivers, and oceans killing the fish you’re trying to save.
How are factory-farmed meat and dairy any different from over-farmed fields of soy and maize? It’s the same thing.
What we should do is eat far less meat, way less than we currently consume. The human body does not need 222 pounds of meat a year. And yes, we should put a stop to industrialized grain-fed meat production.
Abstinence is not the answer. In fact, the odd grass-fed steak may help save the planet, after all.

It makes me so mad when people who have absolutely no fucking clue what socialism is talk about it. Obviously there’s a lot of debate over what socialism actually constitutes, but it does not mean regulation of business, taxes, with government provided welfare. Ultimately, the way I see it, the core of socialism is to work toward building a communist society, but that’s not really what I want to talk about.
Any actual, genuine socialist would decry all attempts at American imperialism, and would stand with nations that are under threat of destruction by the US war machine. Like the DPRK, Venezuela, Syria, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Laos, Yemen, whoever we are going to target next. Regardless of your stance on the individuals who run these countries, any socialist should oppose all attempts by the United States to meddle in the affairs of other countries. Does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have any ambitions to bring an end to the unfair trade deals in the IMF, which forces poor countries to completely change the structure of their economy in exchange for loans? Does Bernie? Bernie definitely doesn’t, because at the core, these people are not socialists. What they want is to give the people of the US access to a bigger slice of the pie from the US’s economic imperialism. That is not what a socialist wants at all. So no, there are no socialists in the democratic party, and there won’t be, because the democratic party only exists to serve the interests of the liberally minded rich people, not the poor, not the working class, not the international working class, just the liberal rich people.
And even then, when you’re rich enough, political distinctions don’t matter, you donate to both, you get benefits either way.

if were being honest like….. a majority of anti vegans dont actually care peta is misogynistic. no one boycotts axe or beer companys for sexually objectifying women.
they dont care about immigrants picking vegetables. they eat the same crops as us AND eat meat that was killed by immigrants in slaughter houses.
they dont care about people in food deserts that have such limited options they have no choice but to eat unhealthy foods that will give them horrible health problems. they ONLY bring them up if its to justify needless animal slaughter
they just want to feel like they have the upper ground and they want to win the battle against animal rights. its all so transparent i cant believe those posts get 100k+ notes and people eat it up without seeing it

i feel like people are missing the point of this whole notre dame debate: no one is saying that we shouldn’t try to fix the church or that it’s not worth fixing.
it’s just funny that there is such near-universal outrage over its destruction when churches in black neighborhoods are burned down by white supremacists in the US and that gets no coverage. centuries old churches in puerto rico were battered by the hurricane and the white house didn’t rush to help restore those.
it’s also funny that millionaires can pull together hundreds of millions of dollars in a couple of days to renovate a building meanwhile millions of people worldwide are sick, starving, and dying.
it’s worth paying attention to the selective empathy that the rich and privileged hold and whose suffering successfully prompts them to part with their wealth. because it certainly isn’t the suffering of people of color and i feel like that should at least be something we take note of amidst all this.

vegan dinner at By Chloe 😋
mac and cheese would def recommend - not that strong of a flavour but better than other vegan mac and cheeses i’ve had! meatball marinara sub 10/10 would have any and every day of the week.
real winner was their house chipotle mayo - still dreaming about it 🤤

For a bunch of people who pass around pictures of animals in flower crowns all day long you guys sure get upset when someone suggests that those animals should have some fundamental rights.

White westerner who lives in a carnist culture which bleeds impoverished nations dry in its demand for animal feed, while poisoning its own communities of color by spraying pig waste into the air that poor people breathe because that’s the easiest way to deal with the massive amounts of waste animal agriculture creates, creates food deserts by way of severely warped subsidies in favor of meat causing wide swathes of people in this nation to have no access to adequate food again primarily affecting people of color, and established itself by wiping out peoples who subsisted primarily (though not exclusively) on plant agriculture and foraging while forcing the survivors to adopt a steeply carnist lifestyle compared to their own: “Veganism is peak settler-colonialism”
Tumblr: “Finally some sense on this matter!!”
