Underrated solangelo hc and dynamic: overprotective Nico.

You cannot look me in my eyeballs and tell me that the boy who has lost nearly everyone he cared about in one way or another would not deliberately protective over the people he has left. And, unlike most other people, Will isn’t much of a fighter. He’s no push over, but compared to say Percy or Hazel he would need it in a way they wouldn’t.

Imagine Nico getting the nickname “shadow” not because of his powers but because he’s literally 2 inches behind Will at any given time. Imagine the first capture the flag game they play he’s not even going after the flag because he’s too busy keeping an eye on Will the entire time (RIP to whoever manages to make a scratch on him, you are now on Nico’s shitlist for Life). Imagine Will going to visit his mother and Nico acting as his personal escort the entire time.

Will finds this mildly annoying until he realizes that campers (especially Ares) are listening to his advice more and arguing less because Nico is right behind him, glaring the fear of God into them every time they get snappy. Then he’s all for it and makes it Nico’s official role in the infirmary. Within two weeks the number of injured campers hits an all time low because people are 1) actually following medical advice and healing before doing more Dumb Camp Shit and 2) actually doing Dumb Camp Shit safer so they don’t have to face Nico in the infirmary again.

To me this is giving Winnie during their separation. I feel like initially he’d be a little lost, even if he didn’t/tried not to show it outwardly. He basically followed Auggie anywhere and everywhere he could so suddenly not having him there would be a shock to his system tbh.

Also them dealing with missing a piece they thought they’d never lose. Kind of like losing a limb in a sense— suddenly something’s missing that you thought would be there forever.

Augustine overthinking, basically creating that unhealthy delusion. Lying awake at night, thinking about how Winnie continues to screw him over again and again, along with building resentment that eventually leads to what we see in the car.

This is so Winnie coded. I think this is pretty self explanatory but he was mostly trying to stick by Augustine’s side, trying to impress his “hero”. Imo the popularity was just an added bonus.

Possibly Auggie when Winnie has gone off to college ?? Or during the divorce. Also this just reminds me of the road after the crash iykyk

Their time’s being cut short by autumn arriving (ergo uni starting for Winnie and him having to move). This is purely just my delusion but I think neither of them were quite ready to not see each other for an extended period of time now that they made up, but life doesn’t always go the way we want it to.
