I will never stop pretending that my thoughts on nbr’s sexual preferences are deep analyses instead of just. Me going “yeah thats hot”. Because i’m based and right. Anyways. Character (sex) analysis below.

I think everyone can agree on brat Rand for obvious reasons, he’s mouthy and rude and definitely needs someone (Rolan) to knock him down a little. However. I also would like people to understand dom Rand and why I think he needs it so fucking bad.

This is a character who has never had any proper control over his life. He’s been living with his parents well into adulthood, he’s probably never been able to hold down a job, most of the people he’s loved have either left him or he’s lost them. He’s powerless and without any kind of proper control over even himself due to his mental state.

However. He could finally have that through sex. Being in charge, being able to tell people what to do and being able to enjoy it and know they’re enjoying it too. Like. Can you imagine the fucking confidence boost? Rand is a character who, at his core, is so fucking insecure. He lashes out because he feels less than, because he feels powerless. So give him a way to not feel like that anymore! Brat Rand is beautiful and 100% works with the canon dynamics of the characters but dom Rand? Rand who’s confident in himself and is able to not just ask for, but demand the things he wants?? Beautiful. Wonderful.

And this goes along with Rolan as well. I think obviously most people make Rolan the dominant one for several reasons (physically the strongest of the three by far, him being the only one who could really match brat Rand’s energy, etc) and I agree and dom Rolan is so hot but consider.

Rolan is a character who fights with his very nature, who tries to suppress the parts of himself that he doesn’t find acceptable. And how fucking delicious would that be with vers Rolan? Trying so hard to be what he’s “supposed” to be, the “man” in the relationship, the one who’s in control, all while trying to hide how desperately he wants to just be submissive sometimes.

And this can work so well with his bug side too! At least working with my personal HCs for the bugs, of him being a worker, craving and needing someone to tell him what to do and how to be, to serve, to obey.

He wouldn’t want to be a sub all the time, though. Just like Rand, he also does need that sense of control especially after finding out what he is. But I think for his healing it would be so important for him to learn that he doesn’t need to suppress parts of himself just because they don’t fit with how he thinks he should be.

And then Kian. Who is so fucking desperate to be loved and accepted, and he’ll mold himself into whatever is needed to be that way. You ask him what he wants in bed, and he winks and says “whatever you want, babe”. He’ll do whatever is asked of him, turns himself into whatever he thinks will make him loved, wanted, even for a short while.

To bring my other autism special interest into this real quick. “Where do you draw the line?” “Wherever they say so.” -a member of my favorite band in an interview. That is. So Kian. He has no boundaries. He’ll take whatever is given. Because he’s too scared of losing everything if he ever says no or asks for too much.

But. That’s not what he wants. Of course he has things he wants and doesn’t want to do, even if he pretends he isn’t, he’s still just a person like everyone else. And I think Kian is a character who above all else just wants to be loved and taken care of without having to “earn” it.

His entire life, he’s had to fend for himself. Drug addicted cultist parents straight to moving on his own in LA, plus the fact that two of the only parental figures he has he is canonically attracted to (Donna is obvious, and he says he was dreaming about Dickman at the hospital). That’s not a fucking coincidence! That two of the only people who might have shown him that care and love he needs would be people he’s attracted to!!

I don’t think it’s about the parental aspect of it, it’s specifically about the care. So basically this is my very long-winded way of saying pillow princess sub Kian. Being allowed to just be there, be taken care of without expectation for him to do something to make himself worthy of it.

And obviously it wouldn’t be this black and white and strict and whatever the fuck. Rand would be a sub sometimes, Kian would want to be in control on some days, sexuality is fluid and flexible and etc etc. but. But do you see my vision. Do you understand it. Do you. Please.
