like ten years ago, i made a silly post about my leopard gecko and someone reblogged it and added their very long and graphic undertale incest mpreg oviposition fanfiction to it while saying my pet had inspired it.

when i told them i found that really disturbing, they freaked out and went on a months' long campaign where they kept trying to suicide bait me.

like three years ago, i posted a stupid text exchange my partner and i had shared and someone reblogged it and added their graphic our flag means death first-time-anal fanfiction to it while saying my relationship inspired it.

when i told them i found that really inappropriate and weird they freaked out then sent multiple people to angrily tell me to delete my reply because they couldn't have known that was weird. then they nuked their blog.

there's no moral to this story. it's just weird that it happened twice.

I know goofy silver age Joker is anathema to all the modern Bat stuff and absolutely can't exist in any reality where Jason is killed by him & becomes Red Hood but just imagine how much fun it would be if that was the case?

Like, I'm imagining an AU were somehow it's silver age Joker instead of the fucked up monster we have now but everything else is largely the same.

Jason still died & became Red Hood but it was entirely unrelated to the Joker. Harley is still around but instead of breaking her psychologically he just brought out her inner silly freak and they became unhinged (but healthy) besties. Maybe they dated, maybe they didn't, either way Harley & Ivy are still together but now Harley's goofball best friend tags along.

Just Joker as this silly little guy surrounded by all these serious villains. Because everything else is the same. Everything else is gritty and dark, he's just the one guy thats energetic and brightly colored and honestly kind of fun. He still had Joker Venom to make people laugh, but it's basically just laughing gas that makes you a bit giggly and wears off after a little bit with no serious side effects. People actually are happy when it's Joker that is robbing the bank they're in because, hey they might end up covered in pie at the end of it but at least they weren't worried they were going to actually die and thye got one hell of a good show during the whole thing.

And like, this Joker is *still* Batman's arch nemesis. This certified clown (literally, this guy actually did go to clown college, he got his PhD in clowning around) is the Big Bad Bat's number 1 villain.

Why? Because silver age Joker actually *is* the opposite of modern broody Batman. He's irreverent, he's unpredictable, he's bright and loud. He's always in the spotlight while Batman is lurking in the shadows and it genuinely makes it difficult for Bruce to deal with him. How can you predict what this Joker is going to do when he'll choose his next steps by literally throwing darts at a board?

How do you account for that kind of random chaos? How do you convince your kids to stop calling him "Uncle Joker" when the man always remembers their birthdays and gets them the best gifts and makes them laugh uncontrollably by nailing you in the face with a pie right when you're about to arrest him?

I just really want Silver Age Joker to make a comeback guys. I'm so tired of the Joker we have right now. He's not even a fun villain anymore he's just a fucked up evil cardboard cutout. He shows up and you know he's gonna do fucked up things for no reason other than shock value for readers. Make Joker fun again, make him an actual foil for Batman again.
