I’ve taught middle school in Japan for over a year now, and I’ve never heard anyone mention Fruits Basket as a fave anime. I’m at a new school and when a student finally told me her favorite anime is Fruits Basket, my knee jerk reaction was excitement and “me too!”

When I got back to the teacher’s room and processed it, I was like “…Oh she’s traumatized.”
