Desc: An in-game scene of An talking to the robot on the court
Feedback: In the game world of An(the character from Assignment 8), the player's daily activity is communicating with the robot. The robot is everywhere in the game world, which helps the player with any questions. In this scene, the background is on the tennis court. The character is talking with the robot. Also, there will be a dialogue box and an energy bar. The player is able to play tennis if the energy bar on the top right is fulfilled. The art style is to provide the whole scene with a feeling of cyberpunk and comic.

Desc: Key Art of An
Feedback: Since An is a professional tennis player, I think the scene of playing the game can be key art for her. The background is an angle of audience stage from the court. An is smiling and preparing in the middle of the screen(on the court), which looks like she is so ready for the game. Her cyber ball pet is moving around her as well. I add several accelerating tennis balls to show the fast speed and strong sense of intensive competition. To increase the powerful feeling, I add some light effects from her back and highlight An in light blue and green. By using motion blur and gaussian blur, the scene provides a clear theme of competitive sports and An's passion about tennis, which why she is made for.

Desc: More detail of Concept art for a new character, An
Feedback: In this picture, there are three basic full profile of An: the position of standing, playing the game and losing the game. Based on the feedback from last week, I developed her hair first with adding more volume and shades. The tennis racket is redesign with more functionality as well. It will be off when An is resting. It also will be her weapon for later (if battle happen in the world). I removed her right hand machine from pervious design and add a cyber tennis ball pet. The pet helps her training. They are good friends but An thinks it looks silly. In addition, I add a sport jacket and redesign the shoes, which make her looks more professional and sporty. The body shape looks more stronger than pervious one because the last one looks too young to be a 24 years old female character.

Feedback: In this project, I expand the theme of tennis on the character design because tennis is one of my hobbies. Since I always want more energy as I am playing tennis, I endow this character some strong powers. I also want to add some tech elements, so An is actually a bionic human and create for tennis. Drawing hands and facial emotions are always the most challenging part for me. In the picture, I try to make An's face look cooler and robotic.

Assignment Name: A7 Environment Design

Desc: A sketch of the game world at Lantern Festival
Feedback: Based on the feedback I received from last class, instead of making it a government building, it is more fit with a typical residence in the game world. Since the whole world is built on the water, there are lots of houses floating on the water. For achieve this week's object, I transfer the original world into a theme with Lantern Festival. The world is in the night. It is an important festival of having good wishes on friends and families. It is also inspired by Chinese traditions. To improve, the most challenge part is to figure out the color as it is in the night but also with lantern lights. The river is color could be darker and more balanced.

Desc: A detailed sketch for one main scene in the game world, with material, color choice and functionality.
Feedback: As I mentioned last week, the main building represents a government building in the game world. Based on the background of the ancient Chinese world, I added more fantasy elements from last sketch. Instead of offering a strong sense of Chinese traditional culture, the architecture is inspired by some fantasy Chinese dramas. In this scene, I add a bridge and fall to fit more with the environment in the mountain and by the river at the same time. In addition, the boat from sketch assignment will be on the river on the right side. Plants and trees are significant parts of the whole game because the whole environment concept is tied with nature.

Feedback: I choose a main building in my tomb-raider-themed game world. It represents a government building in the game world. Since the whole game world is built on a background of the ancient Chinese world, the location is inspired by some traditional Chinese architecture. This is an open world. I drew two floor plans which show the location by the river in different ways. To improve, I think I can do better in drawing perspectives.

Assignment Name: A6 Procedural Art to Audio
Tools: Unity; Adobe XD
Desc: A visualizer that plays alongside a piece of audio
Feedback: The background audio is named "Merry go around" from Howl's moving castle. I picked the middle part of the whole music because it has a stronger beat and feels more emotional with both piano and violin. The most challenging part is to use different particles to represent different beats. I used mainly shining dots and stars to show the piano rhythm and use longer lines to emphasize the audio of the violin that comes after the piano. Since the tone of the audio is kind of joyful, I used bright colors for the particle systems to show the theme. To improve, I wish the dots for the audio of the piano could be more strong since we can feel the beat is really powerful.

Assignment Name: A5 Patterns from Particles
Tools: Unity; Adobe XD
Desc: Making a magic stick with the Particles system
Feedback: Thinking of particles reminds me of some scenes when I play Hogwarts Legacy. Many shining particles follow up when I use a magical stick in the game. Therefore, I decided to make a scene that looks like I am playing with magic in the particle systems. I designed eight different shapes but did not use all of them in unity. As I implement particles into the scene, the most challenging part is to make it looks not messy with different layers of particles. To improve, I would love to speed up the magic light a bit but also need to balance the visual effects.
