Me: Gosh, I could use a 0.1 or 0.2 right about now, hell, a 0.5 could work too.

After having done ch4 weird route, I have no doubt that it's 100 times more mentally difficult to willingly play through than undertale's genocide route. Toby's really fucking good at making us feel like a monster when we play the role.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH watching Kris flee out of the room when they find out we're with them KILLS ME every damn time, and perhaps the detail that hurts the most is how their expression changes and how that adds a new understanding to how Kris sees us.
The moment they realize they and Noelle are in terrible danger, the netrual, reserved expression we're so used to seeing from them changes into one of ABSOLUTE TERROR as they flee out of the room; terror which I firmly believe is rooted in the psychological, emotional, and physical trauma we have caused them and Noelle.
The things we made them do in the Snowgrave/Weird Route made them realize just how much harm we're capable of causing them and the people they care about, and how great our capacity for evil truly is. They already resent us for depriving them of their agency, and now that they've endured us abusing said agency in the worst possible way, their hatred and fear of us has increased a thousandfold.
Deltarune isn't some cute little otherworldly adventure; it's a goddam cosmic horror story, except the twist is we're the eldritch being that brings ruin and madness wherever we go.

cow tools and Pattern recognition
so. I like old newspaper cartoons such as Calvin and Hobbes, or, for today’s rant, The Far Side. But aside from reading them, I also enjoy reading ABOUT them.
now, many already know of the Cow Tools comic, but if you don’t, here it is
Now, this comic, for those who don’t know, once caused mass confusion and panic due to one little detail. One of the Cow Tools happened to resemble a handsaw. This led to thousands of people across the US during the comic’s original printing to decide that this means all the other objects were supposed to be other human tools[ as built by cows].
now, unfortunately, this is not the case. The joke was that if cows made tools, this is what they’d look like.
but the fact so many came to this conclusion and spent months [yes, MONTHS] trying to piece together what the cow tools were “supposed” to be says a lot about the human mind’s pattern recognition and stubbornness. Once we decide a conclusion is the “correct” one, we stubbornly try to prove it with any evidence we can piece together, usually utilizing pattern recognition alone if that’s the only evidence we can find.
now there’s two things this reminds me of, and one is FNAF lore, so I’m not touching that with a forty-three and 7/8ths foot pole.
the other, of course, is pseudoscience and pseudoarchaeology. How many of these theories rely on pattern recognition, like terrace farms actually being staircases for giants, or mountains being pyramids or treestumps?
Cow Tools provides a great microcosm of this phenomenon. The only difference is that Earth doesn’t have a cartoonist in charge who can explain that the joke isn’t that deep.
in conclusion, sometimes a cow tool is just a cow tool, no matter what your eyes are telling you.

I knew this line rang a bell
I am a ridiculous Calvin and Hobbes fanatic, I've read the volumes so many times that I can recite most of the dialogue of certain strips before reading them. If there's a reference to Calvin and Hobbes, I'll probably notice it. That being said, I have snuffed out a reference in Deltarune Ch4!! LIGHT SPOILERS, BUT SPOILERS NONETHELESS

Yay
