Octavia felt rather similarly, though she tended more towards an organized chaos only she understood completely in her workspace than the neat organization the sub-librarian kept to everything. It wasnât often she was taken from her personal sanctuary unwillingly as Dewey just was, but it had certainly happened before and it made her an anxious wreck every time.
It would be best to get him back to his safe place quickly, and hopefully without attracting any more unsavory visitors.
âQuickly enough.â Octavia replied, quickly digging around in her pockets for her car keys. âHavenât really done much driving on cliffs⊠Once or twice to collect some specimens that only grow in rather high places, but itâs been a while. But, seeing as we donât have much of an other option, Iâll see what I can do.â
âThatâs true,â Dewey said, suppressing a sigh. âWhen thereâs few options, the best thing to do is to use what youâve got. I can send a coded message to see if one of our other agents can find their way to us, if you can drive us out of here quickly. Or, if youâre good with codes, you can send the message and I can drive?â He had been hoping that sheâd be at least somewhat skilled in the getaway area, since he wasnât. But it couldnât be helped.
Behind them, plumes of dark smoke signaled that they should be leaving any moment. âOn second thought, maybe we should discuss this in the truck?â The getaway vehicle was run-down and clunky, but Dewey hoped it was at least functional enough to get them away from the area.

Beatrice takes one of his hands and squeezes it with a big smile, considering which books sheâd like to read. âI think I want to read the secret organisation ones, if I can. We should make tea first and get some biscuits so we donât have to get up until weâre finished.â
âOh!â She continues, listing other books she wants to read. âAnd some fiction. Although reality might be stranger than fiction sometimes, I want to read something nice and soothing. Something⊠beautiful.â
âBeautiful,â Dewey agreed. He could name a great many books heâd loved as a child, some which were adventures and some which were mysteries, and others which were little more than fairy tales. âAnd of course, weâll need tea and biscuits for study! Thinking ahead, as usual. Why donât you find what you like in Section 366, and Iâll scout for a few good stories?â

Violet and Beatrice both nodded at his question. âHe was on the lam for some time, but Beatrice was able to find him,â Violet replied. The little girl was very determined. Once she heard the Baudelaires had met a man named Lemony who was Kitâs brother, she decided to research him and find his whereabouts.
âWe meet for root beer floats every Sunday,â Beatrice replied. âI am sure he would be more than happy if you would join us.â She smiled at her father, knowing the difficulty of their situation. âI would love to learn more about you and her. Violet, Klaus and Sunny always said they didnât get to know either of you as well as they would have liked.â
âI would hope so,â Dewey said quietly. This was beginning to be quite a lot to take in all at once - that Kit had died, but his daughter and the Baudelaires had survived - and that Lemony was not only alive and well, but in the area. It seemed in the past decade Dewey had fallen from the forefront of VFD knowledge to almost having none at all.
âI can join you, then? If itâs a family meeting, then I understand... â he trailed off, realizing that he was family to Beatrice, and to Lemony for that matter. The idea was almost overwhelming, heâd been apart for so long. âI understand. And yes, Iâll tell you everything you want to know about your mother.â

I donât like the way Netflix portrayed Kit/Dewey because it just wasnât repressed enough. Like if weâre being honest I canât get behind anything thatâs not covered in like 5 layers of bullshit and deflection no straight people you may NOT talk about your feelings. Not on my show . The X Files did it RIGHT if youâre having a child with the man youâve been best friends with for years and you still canât talk about your feelings for each other⊠thatâs quality
#on one hand YEAH and I loved the book's subtle portrayal#like how they were clearly in love but couldn't come out and say it for one reason or another#so it had to be covert and concealed and that was just... Good#so Good#the downside was that it was so covert that I had to spend like ten years defending the ship cause people were like 'It Didn't Happen'#(it did but people were very adamant it did not)#(I still sometimes see it in regards to book canon but not as much since Netflix)#(so that was the one thing Netflix blessed us with - Confirmation)#(Kit and Dewey were in fact In Love and everyone else can go home goodnight!)#(but even so Book Canon is God Tier and I will be portraying book canon until the ends of the earth)

Thor  {Sentence Starters}
âI mean, youâre safe.â
âI like it⊠ANOTHER!â
âI meant no disrespect.â
âYou dare threaten me?â
âWhy not kill him yourself?â
âAfter all Iâve done for you?â
âYou were an innocent child.â
âWhy do you twist my words?â
âYouâre big. Iâve fought bigger.â
âYou think you can deceive me.â
âYou are an old man and a fool!â
âWhat? He was freaking me out!â
âWell, I guess thatâs worth a look.â
âItâs all right, itâs over. Youâre safe.â
âYou are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!â
âI am not dying for 6 college credits!â
âI only ever wanted to be your equal!â
âTaking their lives will gain you nothing.â
âLook around you, weâre outnumberedâŠâ
âI wanted only to protect you from the truth.â
âI could have done it! For you! For all of us!â
âYes. I was a fool⊠to think you were ready.â
âThatâs pride and vanity talking, not leadership.â
âWhatâs the matter, silver tongue turned to lead?â
âThen give me one of those large enough to ride.â
âWe should be grateful to him. He saved our lives.â
âDescribe exactly what happened to you last night.â
âIâm so sorry! I swear Iâm not doing this on purpose.â
âSo, is this how you normally look? Itâs a good look.â
âYou think me strange? Good strange or bad strange?â
âThis mortal form has grown weak. I need sustenance!â
âDo you realize what youâve done? What youâve started?â
âNo. You took me for a purpose. What was it? âŠTELL ME!â
âI am the monster parents tell their children about at night?â
âI was thinking that you had taken me down here to kill me.â
âYouâre nothing more than a boy trying to prove himself a man!â
âHeâs fine! We drank, we fought - he made his ancestors proud!â
âI never wanted the throne, I only ever wanted to be your equal!â
âTaking their lives will gain you nothing. So take mine and end this.â
âYouâve forgotten everything I taught you about a warriorâs patience.â
âFor the first time in my life, I have no idea what Iâm supposed to do.â
âYou could have told me what I was from the beginning! Why didnât you?â
âListen to me. You must not give up. You must finish what youâve started.â
âDo you want me to take him down, or would you rather send in more guys for him to beat up?â
âAnyone whoâs ever going to find his way in this world, has to start by admitting he doesnât know.â
âItâs not a bad thing finding out that you donât have all the answers. You start asking the right questions.â
